Checking in-11/19

Aimee!

Where have you been girl? Good to "see" you here! Did you survive IMax? You are going to love the PS series. They are great! I had just recieved PowerMax shortly before I received my DVD's so I only got to do it two times, but I loved it. It was such a fun step tape and I actually caught on fairly good for these two left feet of mine. I also have been making it thru both sets of crazy 8's. I remember when I started those waaay back when and thought NEVER! The body is an incredible thing, isn't it? Great week for you & have a nice holiday. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

I'm...

...with you! I am going to get my bag ready to stash behind the door. (It's the one I use all week long! Hee-Hee!)I use to have some great crock pot meals. Let me see if I can round them up for you. Have a nice time at the buffet and enjoy your desserts with your relatives. You deserve a BIG pig-out day! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Debbie...

Gosh, even if I weren't slumping I think they would be kicking my butt. I have alwasy been partial to heavier lifting and if I wasn't doing PS, I was in the gym doing the same type of rotation but going a little heavier do to the machines and equipment. So to give up the heavy rotation and go to CTX was a big challenge for me..yikes!....only Cathe could have made me do it;-). I enjoyed the CXT rotation and it was a good change for me but I did miss the heavy stuff. I just like my reps slow and tough.
I certainly noticed a difference going back to PS. There was significant drop down in most of my weights, especially the higher weight ones...especially the squats. I am able to lift heavier with squats...thanks to a squat rack at home so I am not limited to what I can lift over my head. I usually substitute 2 sets of regular squats for the sit and stands so I really get a good squat set out of it and I was surprised to see that I ended up down 30lbs in squats from what I had made my way up to in July. But that's OK...it will give me something to focus on:). This next month probably won't be the best time to gauge how fast I can regain what I lost...but it will be interesting to see how fast the muscles remember.
I am one happy camper to see PS make DVD...and I hope Cathe throws us more heavy stuff in the future!
Thanks for the support Debbie:)

Thanks For the Reply!

I'll be anxious to see how I do when I go back to the PS series also. I am enjoying the CTX series waaay too much now. I would love to get a squat rack. (Just what I need, more equipment in my workout room. :-wow!) I guess my next rotation will be the PS series since Cathe has decided to make us DVD'ers happy again! Thanks again for replying back and focus, focus, focus! Happy Turkey Day! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE:Hi Debbie!!!

I have been going CRAZY!! That's where I've been!! So much to do, so little time!! I'm having Thanksgiving dinner at my house for the very first time!! So I've been researching reciepes and going shopping and changing the menu ten thousand times!! I'm very nervous about it all actually. My mom always did everything perfect, and I can only hope to be as good of a cook as she is!! The body is amazing! Even with IMAX, I've only done it about 4 times, but already there are a couple of intervals that I can make it all the way through on!! And one day, I'll be able to do the second set of pushups in MIS on my toes rather than my knees!! One day..... So how have you been? Get any good walks with HB in lately? Are you enjoying your DVD's? Catch me up on all the good stuff please!! He he he! Hey if you want drop me an email sometime and tell me all that's been going on!! TTYL!

AIMEE

I'm sure...

...your dinner will be great! Don't be nervous. Enjoy your company. I know they'll enjoy yours! I've got a great recipe for a sweet potato casserole w/ walnut topping that people who don't even like sweet potatoes, love! My Dad used to love it even though he wouldn't touch a sweet potato! Let me know if you're interested. HB & I met last week. (Not for a walk, but for a Birthday Sundae!) We both did our workout before we met though. Just ask HB, I moaned and groaned the whole time because I did Meaner Legs & Step & Intervals back to back.:-tired Yes, I am loving my DVD's. They have motivated me sooo much at home. I think after doing them I will be able to do some of those toe push-ups better. That plank work really helps to strengthern the arms too. I have never been able to do toe push-ups but I am up to 12 now!! Enjoy your holiday with your loved ones and I'll talk to you soon. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Thanks Deb!!

I'd love to have the reciepe!! Although I'll be honest and tell you that I just want it for general purposes! I am a sweet potatoe queen!! I have at least 3 a week!! They are terrific. Thank you for the kind words about my dinner! And Happy BeLated Birthday to you and HB!! I'm glad you're enjoying the CTX series. I let a friend of mine borrow them while I'm on this rotation, I hope she's enjoying them as well! LL and SNI? Wow Debbie!! I'm impressed!! That's tough! Those planks are hard. I especially like the ones at the end of the Kickbox/biceps video they're my favorite! Ok, I have to go get the kids ready for school. Thanks in advance for the reciepe!!

Hi Aimee!

I E-mailed the recipe to you. Let me know if you have any questions. It has to be one of the easiest recipes I own!! ENJOY! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

What a guy!

We all need a friendly kick in the backside on occasion!

preggers check-in

Welcome newcomers!

Honeybunch-50 lbs :-wow Amazing!

I sprained my ankle after doing Power Circuit on Sunday :'( so the rest of my week was just the upper body of the CTX series and some abs and kegels (I HATE those, they just feel so weird). If I wasn't preg I probably wouldn't do them at all. My ankle is still swollen and slightly sore this week so I may have it looked at. I am missing my little bit of cardio.

I've already gained 25 lbs and still have 2 mo. to go! Yikes! But, my doc seems happy. At least the holidays will make it go by fast!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm always thankful that I have the opportunity to do videos. I love them so much and I know not everyone is as lucky as we are :)

Welcome Nikki & Lynn!
Trevor, good to have you back. I don't think you have to worry about this group enjoying their holiday. One reason I love this group is you play hard & then indulge (mostly) guilt-free!
Wendy, pushing hard through that cold aren't you? Take care.

Monday: Tough Tape II; run 25 minutes w/ friend & our dogs
Tuesday: Cycle 18 miles (rolling); KV Body Reform Total Body
Wednesday: spin
Thursday: Pilates; Body Max upper body
Friday: Cardio Kicks (put some faces at the end of my punches)
Saturday: Cycle 45 miles (hilly w/ some scary crosswind)
Sunday: nada (my holiday season started last night)

Now that I'm looking at my week, it's got some gaps. Only worked my abs twice & pretty light on strength work. Oh well, this week isn't going to be any better ;-) .

Have you all have a safe and happy holiday! Enjoy!
Debra

Oh, Nanc!

Hope you get out of slumpville soon! :) I actually had a pretty good week. I'm kinda giving up on the morning workout thing (as a regular workout time, that is). I'm able to work out right after work on most Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes I'm able to get myself out of bed for a morning workout on Fridays. Anyway, here's my week:

Monday - CTX Kickbox/Biceps
Tuesday - CTX Step & Intervals/Chest
Wednesday - Nada.
Thursday - CTX Power Circuit (circuits only)
Friday - Strength work on my own - Shoulders, Triceps, Back
Saturday - Power Max
Sunday - Rest (but a lot of walking while shopping for about 6 hours!)

No slumps allowed, Erin!

I plan to be working out with you in about 4 more weeks! I need you to stay motivated and strong to keep me going too -- do we have a deal?

Hi all!!! Welcome Nikki and Lynn :) So many awesome weeks!

Debbie, you did Meaner Legs twice in one week - WTG! :-jumpy I would like your sweet potato recipe too - I've never really cared for them but I know they're good for you so I'd like to taste what you've come up with! BTW, I did BodyMax for the first time Sat. - you were right, it was a challenge but I loved it. I think Circuit Max prepared me for it, plus I think I was expecting it to kill me and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could do it all, although it certainly left me exhausted - but in a good way!;-) Oh, and I thought of you and your new yellow workout room this weekend because we finished painting our yellow guest room and I found the perfect shade of yellow - it's called "Pale Lemon" from Glidden's Fresh Collection. It's sunny, happy & fresh.

O.K., my week

Sun: Circuit Max
Mon: CK
Tues: BBA and MIC hi/lo
Wed: CST and MIC step
Thurs: SLA
Fri: 10-10-10 cardio only
Sat: BodyMax

I'm trying to cram in as much workout time as I can this week since I only have Sun, Mon and Tues to work out. We'll be traveling to in-laws for the holiday and the only work out I'll manage is maybe some brisk walking. It's gonna kill me but I need the rest. My elbow and knee joints have been whining lately.

I found that I was able to lift 5 - 10lbs heavier w/ PS after my CTX rotation. Anyone else find that to be true?

I think we'll all have to cut ourselves some slack this time of year if we don't get as much workout time in as we'd like. There's always so much to do around the holidays with cooking, baking, shopping, decorating etc. It's only once a year so we'll just have to really kick butt in January! :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!! :) :) :)

Hi Aimee

Thank you so much for mentioning you can't do the second set of push up in MIS. That makes me feel so much better :D . I have been feeling like a wimp imagining that everyone else posting here can do both sets on their toes.

As a matter of fact it wasn't until the last couple of weeks that I could do the first set on my toes.

Trying to get back in the check-in habit

I finally laid all the cooties to rest and I'm back on a regular workout schedule. The only change is that I'm going to try to cut back on my workouts. For a year, I've usually worked out 6 days per week and now I want to try to do only 5. I'm hoping I'll get caught up with some projects around the house with the spare time. So -- in the interest of trying to maintain some kind of balance in this working mom's life -- I'm going to try 5 days per week for a while and see how it goes.

Of course, if I find my butt slapping against the back of my knees when I walk or anything like that, I'm going right back to my old 6-day schedule! :0

I don't have my workout log handy, so I'm guessing a little bit on my schedule last week:

Monday
CTX Step & Intervals, CTX Back, CTX Biceps

Tuesday
CTX Leaner Legs and Abs, Hi/Lo Heaven, stage 1 and c/down

Wednesday
Rest :)

Thursday
3 mile run -- COLD outside, Brrrrrr ... + PS Chest/Shoulders/Triceps (I confess I was squeezed for time and only did the decline pushup sets in the chest section.)

Friday
More rest. This is nice. :D

Saturday
45 minute trail run -- brrrr outside. I felt grreat and finished off my run with a steep run up "Suicide Hill." Was supposed to do abs at home, but had to do grocery shopping, buy the kids some new shoes AND then I went to a DC-area VF get-together and had a great time viewing videos, eating goodies and having fun with my fitness friends.

Sunday
Sports Circuit class at the gym (includes ab work)
This is a toughie. You rotate around 12 stations set up in the room. It's a total body strength workout, alternating with tough, tough cardio (almost all plyo moves.) My calves are still sore from all the plyo moves and my back and shoulders are sore from the push-ups, lat rows and military presses. I won't even talk about the step-ups and walking lunges and flipping FLOOR WORK! (Oops, sorry, getting carried away here.) This class kills me, but I feel so good at the end.

In review, I see that I skimped on the ab work. I usually like to work them a minimum of 3 times per week. Goodie -- that gives me a focus for this week.

Trevor

You got me misty-eyed with the talk of putting together the crib. I can't believe how quickly my own babies are growing up on me. You really have to treasure every moment, don't you?

So is your baby boy going to be a November baby? We November children are pretty special, you know? :D

Your workouts always sound so TOUGH! Now as for me, I fear the climber ...

Hi Lorrie!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-20-00 AT 02:16PM (Est)[p]Great week for you! Have a super time over the holidays and a safe trip. 5-10 lbs. heavier, huh? I am glad to hear that. I am anxious to see what weights I use when I go back to the P.S. series. I am loving the CTX tapes and feel like they are really building me stronger. I told you that you would love BodyMax. It is great. I bet you're happy to have your guest room all done. I am happy with the yellow we have also. It makes working our more Cheery. Of course when I'm doing Leaner Legs back to back with something, the last thing I am looking at is my wall-color! LOL!! I'm almost spitting at those walls. Hee-Hee! :D Have a great Turkey Day! (I will E-mail you the recipe) Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Me too!!!

I just recently tackled the first set of push ups off of my knees!! I think upper body strength is the hardest to build! It's nice to know we're in the same boat huh? Let me know when you make that second set! Good Luck!!
