Check-In for Week of Nov. 26

Carola!

You are too funny! I'm glad all your guests survived! How long have you been in America? I'll go check out your profile after I finish here. ...and, YES, lifting a 20 pound turkey counts!! Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Hey there ladies!!
Great week by all of you. Glad to see you made it through the holiday unscathed. And welcome Michelle S. Good to have you aboard.
I had a great week workout-wise. Changed my weight routine and am following one I found in Muscle and Fitness. It consists of 2 separate workouts, one for upper body and one for lower body. I will alternate these so that one week I will do one of the workouts 2 times and the next week I will do that same workout only once while doing the other twice. UPPER BODY WORKOUT: 2 sets/12 reps flat bench dumbbell press; 1 set/12 reps. pec deck flye; 2 sets/12 reps. one arm dumbbell row; 1 set/12 reps.seated row machine; 2 sets/12 reps. seated dumbbell press; 2 sets/12 reps. dumbbell shrugs; 1 set 12 reps dumbbell lat raise; 2 sets/12 reps tri press down; 2 sets/12 reps. standing barbell curls; 2 sets 50 reps ab roller; 2 sets/20 reps back extensions.
LOWER BODY WORKOUT: 3 sets/12 reps. smith squat machine; 2 sets/12 reps leg extensions; 2 sets/12 reps. seated calf raises; 2 sets/12 reps. leg presses; 3 sets/8 reps dumbbell lunges off a step.
Wordy huh? lol!
Here's my week:
Monday: 35 mins on precor heart rate at 150 bpm and upper body workout
Tuesday: nada
Wednesday: 35 mins intervals on bike. Heart rate at 156 bpm. Lower body workout
Thursday: eat turkey and laugh at the Dallas Cowboys humiliating defeat! ha!
Friday: 35 mins. on bike at >100rpm. 160-170 bpm Upper body workout.
Saturday: rollerblading with my son, alot of sprinting as the young whippersnapper thinks he can take his old man.....not quite yet!! :) In the evening.....what the heck, I pulled out Bodymax and did it to completion while dog tried to join in numerous times!
Sunday: nada. Left knee is sore from blading....may be strained.
I will substitute different weight exercises when I feel the need to work the muscles differently.
On the baby front, Michelle has been getting some contractions and I just have this weird feeling the baby will be here before the Jan 3 due date.
Have a safe, healthy, and happy week girls!! :-jumpy

Hi Wendy!

I have found big-boy push-ups too be a bit easier too. I think all that plank work has strengthened my arms to be able to support all this weight! Isn't it a good feeling when all of a sudden you can do them? I could never do them before in the MIS tape. YaHoooo! Glad your electricity is back on. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Yeah Lisa!

8"!!! I love the Wedding vid too. I haven't done it since the newbies came out but I'm sure it will be back in my rotation soon. Good luck with your pregnancy and weight loss. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

I'm jealous!

Wow Daphne, you got lots accomplished this week. I started organizing my pix and sorted them all into envelopes by year. Then, I started my photo albums and got up to 1979!!!! (We got married in '72. I was sooo proud of myself and before you know it, my kids were rooting thru old pix and taking them out of albums for surprise birthday parties, our 25th. anniversary and so forth. Need I say more? They are all in a BIG box all mixed up again! Someday, maybe my grannie days, I'll start again!! :-rollen Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Hi Lorrie!

Actually, it seemed like a fairly easy week. (Well, not when I was doing Meaner Legs both times!!) I didn't have my normal 4 classes of Hi/Lo that I teach. I was inbetween sessions. I'm back at it this week though. So sorry to hear about your job and your boss. Will be thinking of him and hope he does well. Thinking of you too and wishing you a less stressful week this week. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Hey Trevor!

Sorry to hear of your strained knee. Hope you bounce back real quick. Keep us informed on Michele. Great week for you and keep it up. That son of yours will NEVER catch you. ;-)Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Working off DebbieH's Sweet Potato Casserole

DebbieH & HB - I'm convinced it's a conspiracy between the two of you and Cathe - you post high-calorie, really yummy recipes here - we can't resist making these recipes because we want to please our husbands and kids (okay...that's a little much) - but we do eat them then have to work out to Cathe's videos to keep ourselves fit. I hope you're satisified ;-) (I'm not sure which my DH likes better - my new muscles or your recipes - I'm not going to ask.)

Welcome Michelle but beware the recipes!

Monday: Kickbox
Tuesday: AllStep
Wednesday: Planned Rest
Tbursday: Power Circuit
Friday: Step & Intervals/Kathy Smith's New Yoga Basics
Saturday: Unplanned Goof Off Day
Sunday: Leaner Legs (when the leg work is complete and Cathe
begins the ab work I am always soooooo thankful this
tape does not include plank work)

Hope you all had a great holiday!

Hee-Hee!

We need to keep our hubbies and kids happy, right? Hey Janet, how is the K.S.New Yoga Basics tape? I saw it at Target (I think) the other day. I almost bought it but talked myself right out of it believe it or not. I am so overwhelmed with all the tapes I have now. I just keep thinking I NEED yoga in my rotation. Just don't know where I'd fit it in. Just curious your thoughts on this. Sorry everyone, I feel like I should have posted this as a separate thread. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Due date?

Aren't you in the home stretch now? Your workouts are amazing for a pregnant lady w/ a sprained ankle. I recently rediscovered the floorwork from GWW. Voight knows how to get to you w/ very little poundage.

Did you help the paperboy?

Just wondering if you helped your son with Thursdays newspaper. I had to drag ours into the house. Maybe that paper route is why he's pressing you on the blading!

gottem done already!!

Hi Debbie!!! Got all of them done already! I made a "Santa Riding a John Deere tractor" stocking for my DH (I truly do not have a dining room, it's simply a showcase for all of his collectibles...as if the ones outside aren't enough!), a Scooby-Doo stocking for my hound, and I have a pink and blue one with a pretty reindeer and snowflake pattern. My mom helped me (she had to, she bought me a new sewing machine for my bridal shower 1.5 years ago and still has it-it's more portable than her's :D) We had material left over from my DH's stocking so we made mini-stockings (booties?!?) for my cousins little guys who LOVE to come over and play tractors with my hubby! it was kinda fun!
Wally world didn't have any cute stockings here otherwise I would've bought em!

RE: Carola!

Hi Debbie:

I've been in America for 4 1/2 years and I really love it here!!! I wouldn't want to go back if someone paid me a million Dollars. There is no Cathe tapes in Germany! Can't beat that, right?
Carola

RE: Due date?

I still have two months to go! Ack! Jan. 27. Thanks for the encouraging words. Maybe I'll get my butt moving tomorrow since I haven't been able to motivate myself since Thanksgiving. I've heard many good things about GWW and got it off the exchange right before I got preg. The floor legwork is the only part I have tried, and hating floorwork it wasn't bad ;-) Had to get in some leg work somehow.

You guys been missin me?

Hey everyone

I have not stepped off the face of the earth but I have been trying to heal my now re-injured (about 4 weeks ago) hamstring, which I might add was never properly healed to begin with. I think the kickboxing may have been my downfall to re-injury being the intensity junkie that I am.

I am not sure why I have been skipping the checkins but as you all know, I have been.

I have now started to work with a physiotherapist to heal things once and for all so that I can feel back to normal and perhaps even run some day again.

Anyway, I have been doing mostly upper body for strength (PS that is) and some low impact step and lots of walking. The physiotherapist now has me doing some no weight squats and lunges and I am getting ultra sound treatment every second day. Things are coming along but the word "patience" is being taught to me all over again.

I will check in again next week.

Have a great week everybody.

Kim

Glad to see you back!

And I wish you well with the patience of waiting for your hamstring to heal. I also love intense workouts and this pregnancy is wearing my patience thin!
Andrea

RE: wow, everyone!

Congradulations, :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy It feels great doesn't it. I just started the toe push-ups a couple of weeks ago. In fact today I was even able to about half of them on the second set. :7
Keep at it,
Dawn

Yes Kim!

We HAVE missed you!! So sorry to hear that darn hamstring is still giving you grief.:-( How frustrating it must be. I hope the physiotherapist can heal you real soon. Glad to hear you can at least do upper body and light workouts. Hang in there and do what the doc says so you can get back to normal soon!! Glad to see you join us again. Don't stay away so long. :D Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)
