Cereal - What kind do you eat?

I enjoy eating cereal some mornings but am curious what kind of cereal is good to eat. What cereal do you eat? I really like granola but heard that should be avoided if I am trying to lose weight.

I try not to eat cereal because I have a hard time controlling cereal portions. I'm good with other food portions, but there is something about cereal for me. I can easily eat a few cups.

However, I recommend Kashi Go Lean - it's high in fiber and protein with a lot less calories than granola.

My favorite is to mix Strawberry yogurt Cheerios with Nature's Promise (Stop and Shop brand). It gives me the sweetness I love with some healthy, high fiber cereal. I'm a big cereal-mixer. Sweet mixed with healthy gives me the best of both worlds!

I have recently discovered Kashi's Autumn Wheat cereal. I have never been big on shredded wheat but I LOVE this one! I love cereal but have been amazed to discover that most cereals have a ton of sodium. Why on earth would they put salt in cereal? Anyway the Kashi Autumn Wheat has no sodium at all so that's a double bonus!

I agree with Deana. Cereal can be very addictive if you're not very careful about what you're eating. The key is low sugar content. I think your best bet is old-fashioned oatmeal. It's great with just salt, and has only 1 gram of sugar per serving. Watch out for the Kashi cereals. Some of them are great, but anything with the word "crunch" in the title usually has too much sugar. Read the label and try to find something with single digit grams of sugar per serving.
