Cathletes Gettin to Goal Week of August 23

mabdoo

Cathlete
Good morning all. Did Drill Max premix #3 at 5:30. Felt great. I have a busy day ahead of me and really need to get going on it. Will check with all of you later.

Wow, 5:30?? Can you pass along some of that motivation?? So far I love the Cross Train Xpress dvds...my upper body is screaming this morning! Good luck this week to all!

back from Santa Monica, and starting over!

Hi Everyone:J

Guess I am not doing so well on the checkin…
Being out of town kind of messed things up both eating-wise and workout wise.
The main reason, if you recall, that we went to Santa Monica this past week, was to further investigate DH’s sciatica/piriformis pain. Lisa did a good job explaining her problems in last week’s check-in, and DH’s are similar. His only form of relief is laying flat on his back! Anyway, over the past 2 years, the pain has got much worse for him, and, he’s gone through the realm of orthopedic’s, 2 chiros, sports med dr, a few massage therapists, physical therapists, and neurologists, cortisone injections, He’s done various stretching techniques, a couple of forms of Yoga, Egosque, tried to continue his cycling(but had to give it up), started STS(had to give it up), other forms of exercise and had to give them up because of the pain. (I may have missed some things he tried…) As in Lisa’s case, he also has spinal stenosis, but the docs (2 of them) say that has no bearing on his sciatica! Long story short, he found another neurologist in Santa Monica – he uses a technique called MR neurography, to examine the nerves and muscles, which shows any anomalies with a higher degree of granularity. One of the issues(among others) he noticed is that a nerve split DH’s piriformis muscle. DH got a procedure done sort of similar to the cortisone injections in 3 places. Though there is a slight improvement, DH is being cautious at this point. We will have to see how this all turns out….

Anyway, back at home now. I figured the past week is just a lost week as far as the check-in goes!! The hotel we were at didn’t have an exercise facility. Although I brought DVD’s and bands, the hotel room was too small to exercise in, and our schedule with going to see the doctor a few times, plus, site seeing and shopping and eating really messed up my schedule. A couple of days on the “vacation” I did fairly well eating-wise, but, a couple of other days were days I just didn’t want to think about healthy eating in small portions! The last day we went to Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Company. I had a pretty good salad there, and some kind of acai smoothie, and helped my DH eat his ¾ pound of shrimp and fries! That sauce on the shrimp was so good! After I sopped up the sauce with the fries, I was talking to the waitress about the seasonings, and I guess that was BUTTER with the seasonings! YIKES, no wonder it was so good. By that time I just had finished the to–die-for Key Lime Pie(shared with DH J ).

So, I’m going to start this week off with better intentions, and write down my food, since that has helped me in the past. Also, I think I will weigh myself at the end of next week…
Yesterday (Saturday) I started exercising after the week break. I did 4DS HI/Back & Chest. The cardio was tough! I thought I’d have more energy. For dinner, I had a big salad with mostly 0 point items(romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, Persian cukes, shredded carrots), and a few greek olives, a little reduced fat feta cheese, and homemade vinegairette. I had about ½ cup of homemade spaghetti, and a slice of wheat sourdough bread w/garlic butter. This morning I had a smoothie and I’m going to do Kickbox Surge(Amy Bento). So, I think I’m off to a good start J

Good luck to everyone else this week! I see you all are making good progress, and I hope I can do a better job of contributing to this check-in in this coming week. I hope I can get the hang of it(going through the motions of the check-in) at least!!

Hello all!

Yesterday was crazy busy and I didn't have a lot of computer time. I did walk on the TM for about 30 minutes but that's all I got in for exercise. I did a lot of other walking though.. I had intended to do a kickbox w/o but didn't think I could get my legs off the floor. I think I'm going to have Cathe charged with assault! Disc 3 left my legs pretty much useless and it hurt to sit or walk all day. I'm still feeling it today. :p Today's my scheduled rest day and that's a good thing.

I didn't do so well with the no whites today. We ate at a Mexican restaurant after church and I did have a few chips with my salsa. I have not had any sugar though so I'm happy with that and sugar is what I have so much trouble with. So it's all good.:D

Hi Linda! It's good to see you again. :) I'm sorry to hear your DH is having such a hard time. Hopefully this new treatment will help. Great attitude for the new week. :D

Glad you're liking CTX, Lacy.:D

5:30 on a Sunday morning, Melissa! Girl, you are good.:)

Rhondalyn:
congrats on losing those pounds!
My plan in October is to do STS again, but the 6 month rotation instead of the 3 month one!

Hi everyone! I tried to check-in the last couple of days but have had spotty internet service. We have satellite internet and anytime we have stormy weather (like this weekend) the internet won't work.

I finished the week off well exercise-wise with 4DS HIS/LIS Double Cardio. I really like the blasts in HIS:) That was the first time in months that I got 6 workouts in. Before it's always been 2 or 3 a week. Today is my rest day. We go to church twice on Sundays so there's not much time for anything else. My eating this weekend has been terrible though.:(

Lisa: Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sorry you've had to go through so much. It helps remind me not to take my health for granted because just like that everything can change. I'm glad you're finding exercises that work for you.

Melissa: Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation.

Lacy: Glad to hear you're enjoying CTX.

Linda: Good to have you back. Sorry to hear about everything you DH is having to go through. Sounds like you're back on track. :)

Rondalynn: My mom and I took my son to eat Mexican food on his birthday. I have to say I had more than a few chips. :( I didn't even think about it, I was just sticking my hand in the bowl. I only ate half my entree though and passed up the fried ice cream so it wasn't a total loss :D
Those STS leg workouts are a killer aren't they? Congratulations on eating no sugar. That's quite an accomplishment.

Nancy: Hope you're enjoying your weekend of cooler weather. I know I am :D Right now I'm doing Fitness Freak's Get in Shape for Summer 2009 (or something like that) rotation. What I like about her rotations is at the end she gives you the generic version. For this particular rotation it is:
Mon: Total Body
Tues: Cardio
Wed: Circuit
Thurs: Cardio
Fri: Lower Body
Sat: Cardio
So if there's a particular workout I don't want to do I can sub in another one of the same type. Like on Friday, I was supposed to do Leaner Legs but because that workout aggravates my lower back I did GS Legs instead. It's working well for me and this is the longest I've ever stuck with a rotation.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies!

Melissa, thanks for getting us started in the new week. I don't do Drill Max very often but when I do I always enjoy it. It does have that dread factor of being so long. I don't think I've ever done any of the premixes, though. Even though I've been using Cathe workouts for a few years now, I'm just starting to explore the premixes.

Lacy, that's great news about CTX. It's always a relief to get something new and find that you like it, and such a disappointment when you don't.

Linda, what an ordeal your husband (and you) has had to endure. Jacque's right. We really shouldn't take anything for granted, including our health. I was planning to start STS again in September, but I have decided to wait. First, I want to wait until Shock Cardio is delivered. It will be a real challenge to see whether I can combine them, since Meso 1 wiped me out the first time. Second, I decided to order CLX yesterday (I've been thinking about it for awhile) and plan now to do that from October through December with an online friend of mine that I got to meet in person right after the RT.

Rhondalynn, I hear you on the useless legs after Meso 1 legs workouts. I was miserable for days. Congratulations on beating that Sugar Monster this past week!

Jacque, thanks for sharing your workout rotation. I've not really delved into Fitness Freak's rotations, but have seen that she is really good about providing those general categories each day. Although I usually don't sub in Cathe's rotations I will be tomorrow. It calls for MIC and I intensely dislike that workout. With so many to choose from I don't see any point in forcing myself to do it. Funny you should mention 4DS Double Cardio because I was thinking of doing that instead of MIC. And about that cooler weather? Not here, I'm afraid. We got a big storm Friday night that brought a lot of wind that broke a palo verde tree in our yard in half and bent our garage door, along with lots of much-needed rain, but it's been just as hot and humid since then with none of the promised additional rain.

Today was GS Chest & Triceps for me. My pecs were quivering at the end of the lying triceps work and it was the weirdest feeling!

<raising water glass> Here's to a good week for everyone!

Morning all.

Lacy: Did you just get the CTX dvd's? Glad to hear you like them. I don't have them. I thought about getting them but now realize that it is one more thing I may have to move. I did a B&G premix and still don't get how you like that workout. I did it but hated it the whole time.

Linda: Sorry to hear about your husband's issues. Hope he soon feels better.

Rhondalynn: Great with the no sugar. You are my hero.

Jacque: I love the Double Cardio. I just discovered it a few weeks ago and it is great. don't worry about the eating. You can't be perfect all the time.

Nancy: I was thinking of you this am when I was working out. When I get up you are only a couple of hours into your sleep.

Ok so I have good news but it makes me nervous at the same time. We just accepted an offer on our house yesterday. Woohoo! We put in an offer on another house last week (not knowing our house was going to sell a few days later) but then the people decided at the last minute to take it off the market. It was only on the market for 4 days. Anyway, the people moving in want to close by oct 1. We don't have a house yet and are not going to rush out to buy one just to buy one. We can rent a house or stay with my in-laws for a short time. They are wonderful and have a huge house so it wouldn't be too bad. Now here are my two dilemmas: 1. where am i going to do my Cathe workouts if we live somewhere temporarily? and 2. how do i get everything packed and out in 5 weeks? I know I can't start actually packing until we are 100% sure that the deal will go through but we don't see anything that would prevent it from happening. Lacy, I know you have experience with moving so how do you handle it? We will probably have to put stuff in storage. Has anyone ever hired movers? The irony in all of this is that I have had all summer off and now I go back to work in 2 weeks and am teaching new courses and we are going to be moving!

Good day all.

Good afternoon everyone!

Today was Disc 4. (Push-up Mania) I'm going to be so sore tomorrow. I have a westie that thinks me in push-up position is an invitation to lick my face. I try to keep him out during my w/os.
laugh.gif

Melissa, isn't that the way it always happens? Try not to stress. I have moved several times and I hate it. I don't ever want to move again but may have to because our house is really too big for just me and DH. I've never used a professional mover but I think it would be a good thing. :D It will be okay and you can certainly be packed and out in 5 weeks. It won't be easy but it's doable. Hang in there.

Nancy, my chest was quivering today when I was doing P/Us on the ball. I thought of you. ;) I did the first 2 months of CLX and liked it. I wasn't crazy about the third and STS came in about that time so I stopped and started STS instead. The w/os are shorter than STS and I often felt like I could probably add some cardio to the end of some of them but rarely did.:p

Jacque, I
heart.gif
the 4DS step w/os and often do the Double Cardio premix. I never eat the fried ice cream though.

Lisa, I meant to look for you on FB. I will tonight if I remember. :D

Monday!

Melissa, what an exciting but stressful time for you. It's great that you have a few options about moving so that you don't have to rush into anything. My sister is in the process of moving and for weeks she has been packing up the things they don't use (decorations, winter bedding, things like that) and putting them into a storage unit so that they're not tripping over the boxes. It seems to be helping things go a bit more smoothly. About your working out and my sleeping, Isn't it funny about the time difference and how much of a contrast it can be between activities in different parts of the country.

Rhondalynn, you're just moving right along with STS again. Nice of your Westie to help you out with those pushups! I have cats that seem to want attention at those times, too. I've heard that a lot about the third phase of CLX and, in fact, my friend who wants to do it with me never did finish that final phase the first time she went through. She's hoping having some company will help. I was also thinking about adding on cardio to the short workouts, but we'll see how that goes.

It was looking like we would get some rain this afternoon and I didn't want to be in my workout room doing a DVD and not being able to look out some windows while it was happening, so I pulled my treadmill into the living room and knocked out Cardio Coach V1 for a really good workout. My endurance is improving again, and I'm really happy about that. No rain, though, yet. :(

Oh, I nearly forgot. I was up .3 this week. It's a girl thing, though, I'm sure.

Cathletes Gettin' to Goal Check-in

Do y’all have room for one more fluffy Road Tripper on this wagon? I am starting STS again this morning and would love to have a check-in home! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Good morning girls!

I did Christi Taylor's Solid Gold Step this morning. :D A recent thread on one of the forums reminded me of her so I pulled this one out. I love stepping with Christi. Her step is more more dancy than Cathe and she has lots of twirling going on. This means I need to be very careful with her w/os as well. It was a lot of fun even if I did need a few breaks.

Welcome, Heather! It's so good to see you here. :D I don't know if it's the STS or just everything in general but my cardio endurance sure seems down since I started. How are you planning on doing it?

Nancy, .3 is not really even considered a gain. ;) To be honest with you, I don't think I even gave Phase 3 a chance because I was anxious to get my hands on STS. I wil probably do CLX again. At least the wt w/os. I get bored with their cardio.

Hello and good morning!! I tried all day to check-in yesterday but wasn't successful at managing my time!!

I had a fairly good weekend. I did my favorite CTX mish-mosh on Saturday and then some extended stretching...2 hours later... Sunday is my DOR but I did take the dog for a brisk, 45 minute walk. My weekend eating was fairly good. There was an incident with an angel food cake...okay 3/4 of the cake. I checked twice with my husband to see if he had eaten some of it; he assured me that he had not....but I did track it in my calorie counter!! :)

Well, I couldn't wait until Thursday to weigh-in so I peeked this morning-- I lost 2 pounds! :) I'll attempt to update my ticker...

Yesterday morning I planned to do BM2 upper body 2x + about 20 min. of the cardio. I was so tired yesterday, I actually slept in a bit, promising to do the workout later. That didn't happen either. Tonight I will be taking a long, brisk walk with a friend. Tomorrow will be upper body and cardio.

Melissa: You're my 5am workout buddy!! :) I love doing Drill Max. What's your favorite drill? I like the one with the ball!! I should pull that one out soon! I vote for you to hire some movers. They pack everything up for you!! As far as a workout room, it is possible for you to create a space in your in-law's house? Maybe even just enough room to do some upper body and lower body and then walk/jog/run for cardio? Good luck!

Lacy: Isn't CTX upper body great!!! It's my favorite weight workout. I just recently upped my weights for triceps and chest and OUCH!! Hope you are having a great week!

Linda: Welcome back! How is your hubby doing? Did those shots provide some much needed relief? He must be frustrated not to be able to do the activities he wants to do. I'm glad he was able to see a specialist. Sounds like you're back in the swing of things this week! In fact, I've been inspired by you and Jacque to pull out my 4D's HIS/LIS!! :D I will try, really try to get the RT pictures sent to "The Chain Gang" this week. ;)

Rhondalyn: Good job on the no sugar!! That is so cute about your Westie! My cat has gotten into a habit of sitting on my chest while I'm doing barbell presses or anytime I lay on my bench to do weights. Though she may think twice next time. Saturday she got bonked on the head with an 8lb weight while I was doing french presses!:D Just confirmed your friend request on FB!! Cool!

Jacque: Great job getting in 6 workouts last week!! The weekends (and after work) are so hard for me with food. I have literally stripped the kitchen of all snack foods. I still find myself "looking for something" though. Luckily, there is nothing to find! I wrote down the Fitness Freak rotation you are doing. Sounds great!! I think I'll try something like that in September. Have a great week!

Nancy: Have you had any rain yet? I haven't done GS C&T is a while but that one is tough! It's like you can feel all your muscle fibers working! I have a question about Cardio Coach. How do you get started? This may sound like a silly question but I am very tech-challenged, do you use an iPod for those workouts? Is that the same as an MP3 player? How do you get them on the iPod? See, not so techy.... :)

Heather: Welcome!! I love your avatar!! That was SO much fun stepping with Cathe. Good luck with STS!

Okay, off to try to get my ticker updated...

Happy Tuesday!

Hi everyone! It's late and I'm tired so this is going to be a quick check-in. I have good news and bad news. The good news is I'm still doing good with my workouts (Mon. Push/Pull + Step Blast premix, Tues. KPC) also I weighed myself today and I'm down 2 more pounds (Yay!!!) The bad news is I was tired tonight, I gave into my kid's demands and took them to McDonald's for dinner. I just polished off a double cheeseburger and fries.:(

Welcome Heather:D

Hi Everyone:
Words of encouragement and kudos for all on your efforts!

Jacque: I like that 4DS Double Cardio, too. I’m trying to do the 4 main workouts in 4DS every other day this week, to gradually get myself ready for the 6 Month STS rotation in October. The other days, I do some form of cardio for 60-70 minutes (that has been Amy Bento stuff this week). No rotation for me until October, and I just plan to see what I feel like doing the day before or day of, ‘coz I know it will be structured quite soon! Don't fret too much about McDonald's -- my daughter wants to try their Angus third pounder-- she has been bugging me to buy one and share it with her. Yikes! (I bet I will give in!)

Nancy: Good idea to wait to start STS again and incorporate in with STS Cardio. When did SNM say that was going to ship? A friend(I just reconnected up with her after about 10-12 years of us both being too busy to do aerobics & other fun things together), here in Portland, and had planned a few months ago to do the rotation in October, so, I might stick with that plan. She has just recently got back into Cathe, maybe around 6-9 months ago, because I have really been talking Cathe up! I believe she had done Cathe 12 or so years ago and really liked her, but had no new DVD workouts. I like GS Chest and Triceps! I don’t get that quivering feeling much, but, kind of like itJ. BTW, do you know I am really jealous of your complete Cathe collection??? J Up .3? Yeah, like Rhodalynn said, that doesn’t count, and besides you are down 5.3 – wow!

Melissa: You must kind of feel like you are in limbo. I hope you find a nice place to stay temporarily to do your Cathe workouts. We moved 14.5 years ago after being in a house for 12 years. Boy we had a lot of stuff. We only moved about a mile away J. We did get movers, and they are quick, strong, and friendly. They did a great job, too. Wish we could have offered them more to drink (we only had a little lemonade ‘coz everything was being moved!). If you get movers, the best thing is get a referral from someone you know – that’s what we did and I got tips from that person, so I knew how things were going to work. It was a good decision because then we didn’t have to depend on anyone(like friends or family). We were happy!

Heather: Welcome to our checkin. I haven’t read anything from you lately(guess I am in the wrong forum). Plenty of room here J This will be my longest post EVER, I bet. Not sure that I can compete with you, though. Plus your are so eloquent! Maybe that will rub off on me!

Rhondalyn: I have a set of Christy Taylor’s, and yes she is dancy, and I get really tired doing her workouts! I’ve done only 2 out of the 4 of her DVD’s I have, though. My knees don’t do well with her workouts. Also, I’ve been having some knee issues lately and might want to go on some joint supplements or something. Do you have many DVD’s that you haven’t opened yet?

Lisa: You said you have trouble managing your time? Well, I think you sound pretty busy to me (doing a good job of) doing all you do, working, posting to the Cathe forums, and to FB? How do you do it? I am on sabbatical now, and when I go back to work end of September, I don’t know if I’ll be able to manage! I have all this time off now, and can’t seem to do it! Guess I should have a plan, huh? That is great you lost 2 pounds. I cannot say that for myself – that’s for sure. BM2 – thanks for reminding me about that one. I might do that or Cardio Fusion on my next full Cardio day(2 days from now). Looking forward to the pictures on FB of “Ball and Chain Gang” ! I told my husband about you and your sciatica. Thanks for asking about him. It’s suppose to take up to 2 weeks to see what is going to happen after his injections. First couple of days he was sore at the site where he was poked. He seems to be on his feet more, and last night when we were out to dinner, he could sit at the table the whole time! He does still lay flat on his back a lot, but feels his glute feeling a little more loosened up, but he doesn’t want to say that it is good yet, for fear of jinxing a good thing! He’s been really bummed out about not being able to ride his bike -- he had planned to train for track racing around a velodrome in the Master’s category this year(he use to race in his teens, but, now he is 51). That plan fell through. So, how long do your cortisone shots last to keep out the pain? I forgot to mention his stenosis is between L4 and L5, too…
Good luck on your continued weight lossJ.

Lacy: Wow, I am so impressed with people losing their weight. Hopefully that will happen to me by the end of the week. Good job on the 3 pounds!

Well, I have been both good and bad this week. As far as the exercise goes, it’s been good! So far this is what I have done:
Starting from Saturday:
Sat: 4DS HI+ Chest/Back
Sun: Amy Bento Kickbock Surge + abs (very fun!)
Mon: LIS + Shoulders, Core, Calves also Beginner Kettlebell workout (20 minutes) of Amy Bento’s 3 in 1 Kettlebell
Tues: Amy Bento – In the Ring(kickbox) about 70 minutes.

After kind of a bad eating week and no exercise in Santa Monica, and really pigging out the last day there, my eating is better (most of the time) here at home. I like to stay in a range of 18 to 23 WW points. Today was good: I ate only 19.5 points! That is amazing for me. Yesterday was bad pointwise …it was 32 points, but that was because DH and I went out to eat with friends, but, in my defense (J ), it was pretty healthy food marinated grilled veggies, grilled chicken, tabouli for the main meal and I shared half of a 4” diameter fruit tart with DH. All pretty clean (but maybe not that fruit tart). Then today I made mini blueberry muffins(should have taken a picture and posted it for you guys). mmmmm those were good; luckily my family like them, too!!! We still have a few left because I made a double recipe. Now, why the heck did I make a double recipe????? Guess I thought there would be not enough to eat -à I think I have to get in a different mindset when cooking these things. I guess I should admit to you guys that yesterday I made some biscuits for breakfast (made w/ ½ cup of butter) that were really good. On all my time off, I like to bake!

I must say, though, right now I feel pretty good. Worked out earlier, took a shower, and accomplished a few household tasks, so I can sit here and type away.

Hope you all have a happy week!

Tuesday!

Actually, technically it's Wednesday. Hard to believe Melissa's alarm is about to go off!

Heather! Of course there is room for you. What a delight to have you and any other new members in this check-in. We may be small but I have a feeling we're going to be mighty.

Rhondalynn, what a joy to have fun with a workout. I've never done Christi Taylor, but I have heard that her choreography is trickier than Cathe's. I have all three of Amy Bento's step workouts, but have only done the first one all the way through. I had it learned finally, but then I haven't done it in quite awhile. I've never made it through the second one and haven't cracked the wrapper on the third. I have read that the second is the most difficult to catch up on and I choose to believe that's why I was having so much trouble with it.

Lisa, nice going on your workouts. I'm always amazed at people who put together mish-mosh workouts. I'm a by-the-book kinda girl and not inventive enough to put things together on my own. That's why I like rotations -- no guesswork! We got a very short rain tonight, which was lovely, but not enough to really accomplish anything other than making the sidewalks wet. As far as Cardio Coach, they are MP3 workouts and everything is done online. You pay for them and then Sean sends an e-mail with the links to download the workouts you have bought. He has detailed instructions on how to do it. And I know for a fact that if you have any trouble with it, he's only an e-mail and sometimes a phone call away. You have probably read that he's running another super sale right now. I started with V1 and very soon ended up with them all, although I haven't done all of them yet (big surprise <eye roll>). I also have the Cardio Coach Press Play workout and love to join everyone in Press Play Saturday each month.

Jacque, excellent news about your workouts and your weight loss. Isn't that the best motivation to keep going? And you know what? I hope you enjoyed every single bite of that double cheeseburger and fries. I really think things like that when had only occasionally don't make more than a blip on the scale and then only temporarily. It's when they get to be a habit that they cause trouble.

Linda, I have my fingers crossed that things are truly working for your husband and that it's not just wishful thinking. Your baking sounds well worth making double batches. I'm not sure I know what it is you do that you're on sabbatical from. You probably said and I've just forgotten.

I had a good workout with GS: Legs today. I'm still not up to full strength yet, but I'm getting back and starting to feel like I need to start really challenging myself again and not giving myself excused to lighten up the weights. I'm pretty lazy at heart, so I have to make sure I don't fall into those types of traps.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Hi all!

I kicked butt with Disc 5 (back and triceps) this morning. :D I guess tomorrow will tell who got the last laugh though. I remember having DOMS throughout the entire M-1 last round. I don't expect it to be much different this time.:eek::eek:

Nancy, how late do you stay up? I bought at least one of Amy's step w/os, I know. I don't even know if I still have it or not. It was much more intense than I wanted. WTG on your w/o!

Linda, I hear you on the knee thing. We really do need to take care of them. And BTW, I've had an Angus burger and I don't even like McD's burgers. Actually, I think it was pretty good if I remember correctly. ;) I don't have any dvds that I haven't opened but I do have some that I haven't done. I forgot who said they were an old Firmie? Lisa? Well, I am too. I was one of those who pre-ordered the $50 VHS tapes way back when. I don't have hardly any of their newer stuff but that's what started me on w/o dvds. Anyway, when Stephanie H. put out her latest w/os using the bands, I bought them. I'm still not sure why other than I've always liked her and she is such a sweetheart. :p I'm not sure what I'll do with them at this point either because they don't appeal to me at all right now.

Jacque, 2 more pounds!

I find that I'm always weakest when I'm tired. Just keep at it girl. You're doing good. :D

Lisa, that cake must not have hurt you too much if you still lost 2 lbs. :D Great job!

Okay, confession time.

I ate some of that "S" stuff. I made some chocolate, peanut butter mousse type desserts for the shower Sunday and there were a few left so I brought them home.

That was my mistake. I should have left them there. Anyway, it is what it is. Like Linda, I like to bake. And sometimes I make double batches, too. Okay, I feel better getting that off my chest. I have to weigh in tomorrow.:eek::eek:

Better run for now. Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Cathletes Gettin' to Goal Check-in

Thanks for the welcome! I made a commitment to start STS yesterday morning, and I was faithful even though my air-conditioner decided to go on strike after an extremely hot Texas summer! Yes, it was a challenge! I kept reminding myself that Cathe films these workouts under hot studio lights. We’re in this together in more ways than one! I put my game face on and faithfully finished the workout. It was hot, but I pressed on and persevered and drank plenty of cold water! Meso 1 is so much more fun without the Workout Manager and cards! I decided to listen to my body this round and not focus on all the numbers. I am able to keep moving without pausing my DVD player since I am not stopping to take notes and log my actual weights. I am still using the calendar in the Workout Manager to keep my ticker updated. I am simply not focusing on all the one-rep max tests and precise weights this time. This was my first weight workout since Memorial Day (which was exactly 3 months ago)! I skipped the weight work during the Road Trip. The only time I have touched weights all summer was during the boot camp class when we ran with them! I was feeling all the push-ups! I am feeling my chest and shoulders and biceps today!

I celebrated my birthday last night with a Zumba cardio party! Fun, fun, fun! My friend Sylvia took a bunch of "before" pictures of me last night. I am ready to kick this fluff to the curb and have faith that I will be fit and free when I celebrate my birthday in 2010. I feel so good after Zumba. It gives me an endorphin high and the intensity I crave without impact. I am amazed that dancy fun can be so intense.

I blessed my body with good food yesterday. I ate an organic banana before STS and steel-cut oatmeal with natural peanut butter and raw honey for breakfast. It was too hot to eat much yesterday afternoon. Watermelon and string cheese satisfied me. I received a birthday e-mail from Jason's Deli with a gift certificate. I was hungry after Zumba and enjoyed fresh strawberries and an organic whole wheat wrap with a slice of Swiss cheese and Italian peppers. I drank a gallon of water too. I went to HEB (my favorite grocery store) twice! It will take me a week or so to get organized and back in the swing of packing meals and snacks. I am making choices that bless my body, so it's all good! I want to be an intuitive eater, so I do not diet or count calories.

As far as goals, I want to break free from this prison of fat and move in freedom. Watching the Road Trip video clips (especially the boot camp class) made me see how much this fat weighs me down and restrains my movement. I am 144 pounds from my goal weight, but I am not focusing on the scale. It is too overwhelming. I will be doing the happy dance when I am light enough on my feet to run and jump for joy and dance around my step! I would like to fit into one of the cute Cathlete tee shirts and not look like 10 pounds of sugar in a 5-pound sack! LOL!

Rhondalyn, I want to enjoy more cardio this time! I planned a rotation with 2 rest days every week and double workouts (morning and evening) on the other days for a total of 10 workouts in 5 days. I need to bless my body with plenty of sleep and good nutrition too.

I am going home to eat lunch and check on my air-conditioner. See y’all later for today’s update and personals.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Happy Wednesday Ladies!

This morning I did my CTX upper body & Power Circuits cardio mish-mosh. I am a creature of habit and I do that one at least once a week. :D

It's been tough to not eat because of stress today. I'm the assistant controller (fancy title for accountant/workhorse of the CFO) at a construction company. We're going to start a project in W. VA and we aren't even licensed to do business there! I have to get is all set up (payroll, contractor's license, business license) by the first part of Sept.!! Anyway, when I'm stressed I want sweet things-candy, cookies, frosting! I settled for a few small pieces of candy from the candy jar but I just hate that out of control feeling! :(

I'll take the dog for a walk when I get home tonight and hopefully that will calm me down.

Jacque: 2 more pounds! Awesome!! You are clickin' right along. That is wonderful.

Nancy: That floor leg/band work gets me everytime in GS Legs! I'm looking forward to STS Cardio too! I just hope there is some low impact stuff or at least very easily modifiable (is that a word) moves.

Heather: So glad you're here! Wow, you are really eating healthy. Very cool! Way to treat your body like a temple! Did your air conditioner get fixed? I can't imagine being in TX without air conditioning. That would be like living in Minnesota without a heater...:eek::eek: That is such a good idea to take before pictures. It's something tangible to look at to see how far you've come!

Linda: I love to bake too!! I did a lot of it this past winter. Since I could really only stand, I stood in the kitchen a baked. :) Only 19.5 points!! I would keel over! ;) Unless all of my points were coming from vegetables ;) Excellent job on tracking your points. That's key in being successful on WW's. Hey when is your 5k walk?

Rhondalyn: I hope your Back and Triceps don't scream at you too loudly tomorrow! :) Where do you get all those great emoticons? Love them!! Yes, I am the old Frimie... "lie supine on the floor" ;) Those old tapes are so good and still a challenging workout, but so cheezy sometimes! I have to make chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting this weekend. I hope I can resist sampling the frosting. That is a huge weakness of mine. I love frosting! In my eyes, cake is just a vehicle for the frosting! :D:eek::p

Melissa: Hope you're have a great day and a great week!

I didn't get my ticker updated yet. I have to do that at home. My work computer doesn't allow me access to that. Weird.

Okay, back to work!
