Cathletes Gettin' To Goal 11/1-11/7

NancyAZ

Cathlete
Just getting us started for the week. Can you believe it's November already? October seemed like a long month to me for some reason, but no way am I ready for it to be November. Have a great week everyone!

ETA: I just finished TheFIRM Calorie Killer with Nancy. I haven't done this in years and it used to be one of my favorites. I had fun with it and remembered all of the cueing misses. I lost 1.1 for WI this week :)

Rhondalyn, you have a good workout goal this week -- good luck!

Hi Nancy!

Thanks for starting us. Sundays are usually always rest days for me. We had a couple show up after church this afternoon and stayed for several hours so I didn't have a lot of time anyway. ;)

I have to work all this week but plan on getting in a w/o at least 5 out of the 7 days.

I can't believe it's already November and that Christmas is just around the corner.

Monday morning

Good morning ladies! Have you all adjusted to the end of daylight savings time yet? My weekend was horrible (eating wise that is) I had way too much candy and cake. I'm so tempted to just throw it all away but I'm afraid that would upset my kids and DH. So I must be strong and refrain from eating anymore crap. ;)

My scale is up this week but I'm not going to change my ticker until I check my weight again later this week. I'm hoping a few days of clean eating will bring it back down again. I'm wearing my GWF, I've logged my food (breakfast) into my livestrong ap and I'm getting ready to workout in a bit. I just need to be consistant in all of this. I always start off great on Monday but then slack off the rest of the week. Now I just have to decide what workout I want to do. 4DS didn't happen last week. I only got two of the workouts done (my calves are still sore from the calf segment on LIS).

Nancy: Great job on the weight loss! WOO HOO!!!:D I cannot believe it's November already either. The time is just flying by. I'm not ready to even start thinking about Christmas. I read on another thread that you're getting ready to go on a trip. Are you going to visit family?

Rhondalyn: Sunday is a rest day for me too. (Whether I need one or not:rolleyes:) Where do you work? (If you don't mind me asking ) Do you have any idea what workouts you'll be doing this week or are you just playing it by ear? I want to make sure I get at least 5 in this week also (6 is my goal though). Congratulations on your team's win on Thursday! How exciting! I hope it was a great game.

This week's playoff game is against Empire. (A school near Nancy.) I'm glad because it's actually the closest school to travel to. :p No four hour drive this week. Wheww! It's also a team I think we have a chance to beat. ;) Last week half my son's team was out with flu. :( I just hope he doesn't get sick. We've been lucky so far.

Well I'm off to post some Halloween pics on Facebook. TTYL. :D

Hello!

Thanks for starting us out, Nancy! :) Congratulations on your continued weight loss! I'm still inspired by you, sometimes even in practice and not just theory! :p I can't believe it's November either!!
Calorie Killer w/ Nancy Tucker! From BSS2, right? I really liked BSS2. I think Complete Aerobics and Weight Training was my fav from BSS2. Actually, that is the last Firm I ever did! I discovered Cathe in that same time period and that was pretty much it for The Firm!
Yep, I was referring to your Charlene Extreme rotation. It sounds fun...which means I can't do it right now!! :p Have a great week!! :D

Rhondalyn: Sunday's are rest days for me too! Well, unless I really blew it the day before! ;) Good luck with your workout this week! You can do it! I hope you don't have to work too much this week!

Jacque: What workout did you pick? :) I saw your FB pics! Your DD is so cute!! Did she have fun trick or treating? I love Daylight Savings Time! I like getting that hour back and I like that it's not dark when I drive to work. Good idea on giving the scale a few days to catch up to your clean diet! For some reason I decided to get on my scale Saturday morning (I have a pretty strict policy of getting on only once a week, as I tend to let the scale dictate my mood), I nearly screamed! I was UP 6 pounds!!?? Then I remember that I had had soup for lunch AND dinner Thursday and Friday. I think I drank about a gallon of water on Saturday and I didn't let myself have one piece of candy! I peeked Sunday morning and I was back down to where I was last week.
Do you like your GWF?
I hope your son and your family stay healthy this week!! I know it's going around my office (mostly their kids) like wildfire!!

I took 2 complete rest days from cardio and weights this weekend. I did a 25 min. stretch each day because it really seems to help. Which, thankfully, it did! I feel pretty good today. :) Tonight is water aerobics and if I'm still feeling good when I get home, I'll do and upper body workout and then stretch. I find that I have to do stretching for at least 20 min. a day so my quads, hamstrings, and calves don't tighten up.
I did pretty good with eating last week and I hope to do better this week. I didn't track my food a couple of days last week, so this week my goal is to track ALL my food EVERY day. I don't think I went over on my points last week, which is good, but I don't know for sure since I didn't track.
For the next 2 weekends my DH will be deer hunting. (poor little deer!) I have to do some baking this week for his outing. I'm hoping I can just add walnuts or pecans to whatever he wants me to bake (I'm allergic!). I really hope he doesn't want anything with frosting!! I have no self control when it comes to frosting.

Here's to a successful week!! :D

Monday!

Hi girls,

I did NYC with KCM tonight. I like this one. It's not too tough but it's fun. :D

Jacque, I'm not sure what I'm going to do this week. I wanted to use my TM and do some CC but I can't find my wireless earbuds. :( I can't remember what I did with them for anything. I have a Nano that I can use and I guess I'll have to but I really like my wireless. I haven't had much time to play on the computer today but I'll check your pics in a bit.

Lisa, you're allergic to nuts? That's awful! I love nuts in most everything. You're right about the poor deer. DS recently took up hunting and got his first deer this year. I could never be a hunter.

Monday

Jacque, sorry that you had a tough weekend, but you sound newly-determined to get things under control. Lucky for me, I don't have to worry about junk in the house. If I don't buy it, my husband doesn't (although he'll be glad to eat it if it's here!), and if I don't have it in the kitchen and my daughter wants something she buys it herself and keeps it stashed in her room. We had a grand total of one trick-or-treater so she got lots of candy and then some family dropped by with the youngest granddaughter so they got all of the rest. We always buy Mounds because none of us like coconut. I'm heading to Connecticut for the annual International Torch Run For Special Olympics conference. I think the thing I'm most excited about is that when I have been buying a few things for the trip (I got rid of all of my clothes about six months ago so didn't have anything for winter) everything is in smaller sizes -- woohoo! (ETA: I meant smaller sizes than the summer clothes I bought -- still not back to goal, of course.) Empire is in Vail, right? I'm glad you have a much shorter drive this week.

Lisa, yes, CK with Nancy Tucker is from BSS2. CAWT was also my first TheFIRM workout and remains a nostalgic favorite. I did TheFIRM workouts for about three years before I discovered Cathe, so I have everything up through the TransFIRMation system (first set of pinks). I was well into Cathe by the time the TF system came out, but was still feeling the tug of old favorites. Once I got those I was done. There are only a couple of those I like and will pull out occasionally for a change. Even aside from the reason you need to do the stretching, in and of itself that is so good for you. I keep promising myself that I'm going to do more of it and I just never do. Which is silly because it's not like I don't usually have the time. <note to self> Thank goodness you were able to redeem that soup gain quickly! Although I know I shouldn't, and have had periods when I was able to resist, I still weigh myself once a day. I don't plan to change that through the holiday season, as I can very easily fall into the "see no evil" trap. There are downfalls, though, of course. This morning my scale was down another half pound from yesterday, but there is every chance it will bounce back up tomorrow so I can't let myself get caught up in worrying about those ups and downs. It's hard, though. Good luck with your baking!

I managed to squeeze in CLX Push Circuit 2 today (it was a busy day for me for some reason) and I may do some treadmill walking later tonight, but we'll see. I'll finish this phase before I go to Connecticut and then I'll be glad for a little break from Chalene while I'm gone. I'm not really tired of her, but I can see where I would be if the rotation were to go much longer. I never feel that way about Cathe. Interesting.

Oh, Lisa, I meant to jump in with the fact that I have a GWF, too, and found it very eye-opening as far as the calories I expend (nowhere near what it tells me I should each day) and the calories I take in (also nowhere near what it tells me I could, but since my expenditure isn't up there, it all balances out). It does help me to think about moving more, and tracking my calories/macros with it has been really helpful.

Sounds like we are off to a good week.

Nancy, You are amazing! You are an inspiration. Keep it up.

Jacque, I hope your son's team continues to win. Where I teach our team is undefeated and looking great still. It is so exciting following the kids' sports. It is one of hte things I love about teaching. BTW, how tall is your hubby? I am assuming that is him in your avatar. I don't remember you being short when I met you this summer, but maybe I was wrong.

Speaking of summer, it was 3 months ago that we came home from the RT! Where does the time go?

Rhondalyn, sorry to hear you are working so much. Be strong and get those workouts in anyway.

Lisa, I am sure that you are just holding a lot of water weight from the soup. What else can it be? I can't have a bowl of soup without noticing it the next day. My waist is always bigger.

I worked out 2 days in a row! Yesterday I did PUB biceps, shoulders and triceps. That always make my biceps sore the next day. Today I did chest but all i really did was do the GS drop sets of pushups. I take a little bit longer for a break. I did most of them on my toes! I also did abs and am feeling them already. I don't know what i am going to do tomorrow. I haven't done legs in ages. I really miss my DVDs and Cathe. Hopefully only another month until I move into the new house.

Speaking of which...we spent another day cleaning this weekend. We are up to 36 hours of cleaning and we haven't even touched the kitchen. There is so much grease on the walls that I don't know how to clean it without using a heavy duty cleaner. I just have to ge careful so that I rinse it well I guess so that the paint sticks to the wall. I don't know if I have mentioned this before but we bought our house from a thoracic surgeon. He had 5 kids and his wife NEVER, EVER cleaned. They had the house built 6 years ago and you can see it was never cleaned because we find things that would have been discovered and discarded if you had seen them. One of hte windows still has the paperwork attached to it. The house is gorgeous but dirty. I swear she must have fried everything. But you would think a surgeon would have a clean house or could at least afford to pay someone to clean it if his wife isn't going to. Anyway, we are loooking forward to moving in soon.

Have a good night everyone.

Melissa, that's pretty unbelievable about the state of the house. I guess the up side of it is that it will truly be your own when you get to move in. You'll have put your stamp on it, making it fresh and new. Once you get moved in and settled <-----does that ever really happen?! -- you'll really appreciate being able to get back to your Cathe workouts.

Whew...my dad and step mom left this morning going back to Oklahoma. Having guests in the house really throws me for a loop, I end up eating out and skipping workouts because I don't like doing them in front of people...I know, bad excuse, but it's true....
Koga is an ok workout, I will do it from time to time, but the quality is nowhere near Cathe's stuff. I pre-ordered shock cardio this week, looking forward to getting that.
Now I have to go to Richmond tonight for an all day meeting tomorrow. They are feeding us all day...Lord give me the strength to make good choices! As far as Halloween candy went, I ate a few tootsie rolls, but not much else. Now I'm not sure what to do with it all! I will try to attach a pic of my kids dressed up.

Tuesday morning

It's great to see everybody here! I decided yesterday to do Cathe's October rotation so yesterday's workout was STS M1D1. Lots and lots of pushups. :p

Lisa: Glad to hear you're doing better. Count me in as one who needs to do more stretching. I keep meaning to add it in to my routine but I never do . I feel so much better when I do it though. No, I don't think you could do the CLX rotation with your back. I know I had some trouble with mine when I was doing it. I had to modify some of the moves. If you ever do feel like attempting it though let me know and I'll let you borrow mine. :D
Thanks for the compliments. I think she's cute but then again I am a little biased. ;) She has three or four of those princess dresses so I didn't have to worry about buying a costume. We didn't go trick-or-treating. Our church had a Halloween carnival so we just went to that (and left with way too much candy and cakes we won doing a cake walk).
I hope your water aerobics class went well. When do you start the deep water ones?
I like my GWF. I like to see how many calories I burn in a day and how many steps I've taken.:) I go through periods where I wear it all the time and then weeks when I won't wear it at all.

Rhondalyn: I really need to incorporate my TM more into my routine. I have all the CC's but I've only done a few of them. Don't you hate it when you can't find what you're looking for? Most of the time when that happens to me it's because my kids have taken it. I hope you found your wireless. I've been thinking about buying wireless earbuds myself because the wire really gets in my way when I run.

Nancy: Have fun on your trip. I bet you look great in your new (smaller;)) clothes. It's funny that none of you like coconut. Nobody in my house does either (except me). So I got all the Almond Joy and Mounds bars from the Halloween candy. Yes, Empire is in Vail. I'm glad because it's only a little over an hour away.:) The games are on Saturday now.

Melissa: It's good to hear that you're almost in your house. Sorry they left it in such a mess. I could maybe understan if they lived there a long time but six years isn't very long to have such a mess. I'm a compulsive cleaner so I can't understand it but I do realize that for some people it just doesn't bother them (my mom's one of those people so I don't get it from her :p) You would think with the husband being a surgeon they would of hired some cleaning help. I finally broke down about a year ago and hired some help for myself. I just couldn't stay on top of it all. Our house is about 5600 square feet and seemed like all I did was clean all the time. She comes once a week for a few hours but it does make a big difference.
My husband is 6'8" and I'm around 5'5". My 17 YO is already 6'4". I was just thinking the other day about how it's been 3 months already. It hardly seems possible. Hang in there. I think you'll find just the cleaning and moving burns lots of calories (especially if your house has stairs :))

Lacy: Those pics of your kids are adorable. I love their costumes.:) Sorry to hear you didn't like Koga very much. I have that same problem trying different instructors. It seems like very few measure up to Cathe. I hope you had a fun visit with your folks. I know what you mean about having visitors disrupt your routine. It gets to me too.:) Isn't your dance coming up soon? I'm sure you'll do great with your food choices.

Well I need to get off this computer and clean my house. We have Bible study here tonight.:D

Tuesday!

Hi all!

I got an unexpected day off. :D So I'm playing on the computer all day. LOL Not really but I'm not planning on doing too much. I'm invited to some kind of party tonight. I'm not even sure what it is. It's called Entertaining at Home. Anyone ever been to one of these? I still don't know if I'm going. I guess I should decide.

I did CC V-1 today. I'm going to work my way through these over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it will help build up a little cardio endurance for me. ;) Oh! I found my earbuds. :D Right where I put them last. LOL

Jacque, I'm a RN but haven't worked in the profession for several years now. When I say I'm working it means I'm helping my DH. We own a scrap metal recycling yard and I fill in at the pay window when my DIL isn't able to work. It's not hard work but it takes up time I'm not used to giving up. Are you doing a specific Bible study? I always enjoy home study groups.:)

Nancy, have a great trip! Congrats on the smaller clothes! How exciting is that. I'd kill to buy smaller clothes. LOL If I was there, I'd eat your Mounds. Good thing I'm not.

Lacy, so Koga isn't something I should run out and buy? ;) I always love to have company but I always love it when they leave too. LOL Cute pics! I loved your tatoo arm.

Melissa, I want to see pics of the house when you finally get moved. I hate to clean and wish I could hire someone to come in and do it. I have a big house too and it's a pain. My house will never be spotless and it may be cluttered from time to time but I couldn't stand the built up filth. I'm excited for you to get moved in.

Question

I had a thought today. What would you guys think about forming a closed social group in place of this check-in? I haven't been involved in one, but I'm assuming they're easy to set up. We seem to have settled into the people who are going to join so I don't see a need to keep the thread public. Just a thought.

Lacy, Great pics.

Ok all you computer techies. I have never done facebook. Do I just go on and figure out how to set it up? Will I be able to see pics you put up or do I have to request you as a friend first? Also, wireless earbuds? How much easier life would be when I run. do they work with an ipod? One last question, I used to be able to use bold for names and now I can't. How do I do it here? What changed?

Nancy, I do like the idea of a private closed social group.

Ok, we had a workshop today and I did nothing but eat. I had a hot chocolate, a bottle of water, a package of cheese and whole wheat crackers, a banana, macaroni, sausage, salad and 4 baby Italian pastries. I cannot attend workshops where we sit the whole time. I have NOOOO willpower. Will do better tonight.

Happy workouts.

A private group works for me Nancy.

Melissa, FB is easy to get started and set up. You can send us friend requests once you're registered or just let us know and we'll send one to you. You can search our names and should have our real names in your book from the RT. You probably won't see most pics unless you are their friend.

Here's a link to the earbuds I have. They're not cheap but I really do like them. I use them with my iPhone but they work with most mp3 players, I believe.

http://www.jaybirdgear.com/bluetooth-stereo-headphones-features.php

Are you using the regular reply to threads? There is a B at the top left corner to use to make bold print. Quick reply might not show these options. I usually highlight what I want to be in bold print and then click the B.

Tuesday!!

Hello everyone!! What a fun, busy thread today!! :D

This morning I did Cardio Sculpt from SS, most of segment 1 of CM, and my stretching dvd. My calf has been bothering me on and off for past few days and it's driving me crazy! I chose to "work through the pain" this morning. Then I got on the scale... I don't understand, it was up 2.5 pounds!?? How?? How??? Last week and over the weekend I didn't indulge in anything! Of course I'm thinking "I may as well have!" I'm just a tad bit upset and refuse to move my ticker!:eek: lol! It has taken all my resolve -cuz I'm going to show that scale that it's not the boss of me - not to jump head first into my coworkers bowl of Tootsie Rolls today!

Nancy & Jacque, I am convinced that if I had incorported stretching at least twice a week into my routine, I would not be as bad off as I am right now. Thank you for info on the GWF too! Hmmm...do I want a GWF or an iPod Touch or a Nano for Christmas?? I think I'd definitely use the GWF. I wanted the Nano/Touch for Cathe downloads but that can wait...decisions, decisions! :)

Rhondayln: Are you still playing on the computer? :) I'm only allergic to walnuts and pecans. Which I know is weird. I can eat peanuts, cashews, and pistachios. I don't know about other nuts though. That's why I usually bake with walnuts or pecans--keeps me out!!
I've never heard of Entertaining at Home parties. Is it like Southern Living? Let us know what it is! Have fun!
Glad you found your earbuds! :D

Lacy: Having company throws me for a loop too. I'm sure you'll get right back into workout routine with no trouble.
Thanks for letting us know about Koga.
Loved your pictures! Very fun! That tatoo arm is hilarious! I saw one like it on a tv show and was like, "I need one of those!" :D

Melissa: I can't believe people would leave their house like that! Just reading about the condition it's in makes me itchy!
It must feel great to have worked out 2 days in a row!! Yay! I'm glad you could! PUB is a favorite of mine.

Jacque: Good luck on the October Rotation! I was just talking to a friend of mine from the church I used to attend; they have a harvest carnival too. The singles group dresses up, makes up games for the kids to play, and hands out candy. Lots of fun and the kids always look so cute!
Deep water aerobics starts Nov. 17. I'm really looking forward to it.
Thanks! I'll let you know on the CLX but I can hear my chiro screaming "NO"!! Did I ever mention what he said about Cathe the day before I left for the RT? "She's going to undo all my work." LOL!!

Nancy: LOVE the idea of a closed social group! Count me in!
Have fun in CT in your new, smaller clothes!! Are you taking any workouts with you to CT? Too bad Travel Fit isn't ready yet!
I don't like coconut either! I had (another) talk with my DH and expressed, with much more passion, how I don't want candy or ice cream or cake or chips or peanuts in the house. I think he understands now. I handed him the Costco-sized peanuts container to him and asked him to keep it in his car! I am not really tempted by peanuts BUT if they are the only thing in the cupboard, well, I'll eat them!
I gave away most of my Firm tapes and DVD's but I thought I held onto my BSS2 dvd's. However, I can't find them. I really want to pop in CAWT but I can't! I'm sure I can rent it from Blockbuster or Netflix.

Have a great evening everyone!! BL is on tonight!! :D

New Social Group

Okay, I created a group -- Cathletes Gettin' To Goal & Beyond. I made it private. I can't see how to invite people to the group so I think you need to apply and then I have to approve it. Not sure, but please try that and see whether it works.

The way I found to get to the groups is under Quick Links.

ETA: I think I figured out how to invite people, so in some way, shape, or form you should have an invitation waiting for you. If you don't, I still think you can apply.

I'm posting here and then copying and pasting into the new group in case it takes a bit for us to figure out the group thing.

Lacy, I don't like working out in front of people at home, either, so I can understand how you feel. Welcome visitors are great, but it's always nice to have our house back. Great Halloween pictures! Good luck with that meeting.

Jacque, keep us posted on that October rotation -- that's the undulating STS one, right? I'll be thinking about that one in April after I finish up STS. Gosh, that sounds so very far away, but I'm sure it will be here before I know it. Next time I have any Mounds or Almonds Joy bars I need to share, I'll be sure to send them to you and to Rhondalyn! What a house you must have. I think it's great that you are able to have someone in each week to help you out. When you mentioned that you have five bathrooms, I think you said, I had a feeling it wasn't a small place.

Rhondalyn, I'm glad you got the day off. Nice going on finding your ear buds and getting CCV1 in.

Melissa, FB was very overwhelming to me the first time I joined, partly because I started to get so many friends requests from high school people I didn't remember and probably didn't even know since we were a fairly big school. I shut my page down for awhile and then started it up again a few months ago, not being afraid to say "no" to people I didn't want to include. There are probably all kinds of things about it that I don't know, but I'm finding it fun to keep up with people. I don't get involved in any of the apps like Farmville and sending the flairs and hearts and things and, in fact, was quite happy when I learned how to hide all of those updates as they were really clogging up my feeds. Just jump in and take your time with it and I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Lisa, I have been meaning to ask and keep forgetting (and hoping I would figure it out). You said you did Cardio Sculpt from SS. What is SS? That's too bad that you can't find your TheFIRM workouts. I did Nancy Tucker's Cardio Sculpt Blaster today (an add-on for BSS1) and I was thinking about you and how it might work for you right now. It's low impact, has a little bit of step in it (not the fun factor of Cathe, but still would get you stepping a bit), has only a few lunges that you could modify, and only a few shallow squats in the cooldown. I was hoping you had it. That totally stinks about your gain. In another group I belong to we call those WTF gains (hope you know what the letters stand for ). They're just not fair. Hang in there and keep doing what you know is the right thing and it will fall into place. As far as whether to get the GWF or the new iPod for Christmas, if it has to be one or the other I think I would go for the iPod simply because it's a more versatile toy and you don't need a subscription or anything for it. The GWF is great and it has been really helpful to me, but I'm not sure it would be worth using up a Christmas gift! As far as CT, yes I am taking some workouts with me now that I have my laptop. I have Stephanie Huckabee's POWERFit workouts that I bought for travel. And I may download a few of Cathe's just to see how it all works. I don't have an iPod that will play them, but I'm assuming once you download them into your iTunes you can just play them from the computer, right? I'm not up on all of the latest when it comes to that kind of technology. Can't wait for BL! I caught a few minutes of Ellen while I was setting up my workout today and Abbie was on there. She looks fantastic.

Nancy, I found the group. :D I didn't receive an invite but did request to join and was accepted.

I'm guessing you were automatically accepted since I have you listed as having been invited. <shrugs> It's all new to me. Glad you found it, though!
