cathe's weight

I'm having a huge argument with my husband about how much you weigh, Cathe. It started when I was telling him about Core Max and how you sit, indian style and lift yourself off of the floor. I can not do it, yet! He says, "heck, she only weighs 80 pounds!". I told him that with all that muscle, there's no way you only weigh 80 pounds.
Can you divulge? Or is that too personal a question?
Thanks!
Deb

Deb- I think Anne is right and Cathe doesn't share many specifics (other than height, which is 5'2" like me... the only physical quality I share with Cathe... LOL!).

As an argument to your DH, isn't it all relative?? If she were to weigh 80 pounds (and I personally think your DH is WAAAY OFF on that one, 5'2" is looking very meager and ill below 100 at least), then she would only have the ARMS of an 80 pound person to support herself. Unlike a big 200 pound muscle man, who has 200 pound muscle man arms to support himself...

In any case, you've got the support of hundreds of Catheites in your "discussion" with your DH... :p

I think it would help people to know! So many women worry about scale weight when, muscles actually may make the scale weight more. If we were to know how much Cahte really weighed, some might quit worrying so much about the scale!

I don't think you will get an answer to this either, but thats not to say that most of the women around here wouldn't like to know the answer.
And we may be shocked...she may just let it out!:)
Lori:)

The main reason I would like to know is that I am the same height as Cathe, and I would like to know what I should strive for. I weigh more than people think because I am very muscular, but I also think that I should be thinner.

I bet cathe is around 120-124lbs pure muscle. I am 5 2 1/2 and weigh 124.5 and felt great around 120lbs. I think she looks awesome!!! most people weigh more than other people think and actually like I read in a magazine somethin kathy kaehler said, you might not actually weigh what you want but you goal could be to look like you weigh that. I have people tell me all the time there is no way I weigh124 pds.they would guess me around 115lbs, so you might not get to that magic number but if people think you are, I say that is great!!

Laura that is a really good point.I weigh around 128-130 lbs and I am 5'3" 1/4..LOL...can't leave out that 1/4 of an inch!:) I have people tell me that same as you. Most people think I weigh 110-115 lbs and they never beleive that I am 130 lbs.
You know, I gues part of it is b/c some people I know weigh 150 lbs (which is only 20 lbs more then me) but take a size 16 while I am into a size 4 or 6. SO when they know my clothing size they assume I weigh less. But its b/c they don't workout so their weight is mostly fat, instead of muscle..am I making sense?;) Those of us who workout may weigh more but we are more compact!
Lori:)

I was doing a plank the other day and clasped my hands together and thought, this person has little hands! And of course they were my own... it's weird to think that other people see me as small, when I look all I see are the things I'd like to improve on!!

I'm 5'2" and at about 134 right now. 125 is my goal, but I'm not super focused on it... yet... :)

With all due respect (hopefully Cathe does not take offense to our guessing)

Being 5'2" myself I am going to guess that Cathe is around 112 when not filming and 120 when on the set filming. She is such a continous inspiration for us 5'2"ers, becuase in our dreams we can look like that buff body!

I am 5'2" and 105 lbs. Of course, not firm as Cathe but I have decent sizes of muscle. I can lift same amount of weigh as Cathe. I would think Cathe is lot less than 120.

As far as the levitation move, cross the leg and hold your abs tight. Lift your buttock slightly up first and the rest. Once you are up balance out evenly.

You might want to practice them without the shoes first until you feel comfortable.
You will get it. :)

Hi Deb! While I don't ever discuss my weight publicly, I can tell you (and your hubby ;-)) that I am happily well, well, well, over 80 pounds.

All you 5'2"ers, I can't imagine. I have not been 5'2" since I was 11 years old. So weird that people come in so many different sizes. I guess that is why we all have so many differing questions.

Hi Deb--I'm no expert (and not Cathe!!), for me at least, the levitation holds involve physics, not just pure muscle. If I put my hands slightly forward--slightly more toward the knees than my butt--I can do them. I think that it balances out the weight of the body better so that I can get my butt off the floor. When I do them, it feels like I'm pushing forward on the floor, not just down. Who knows...is that cheating, Cathe? ! }(

LOL, Tallchick! I have been 5'2" since I was eleven, too. It's just that I stopped a little too early, I guess! :p

I'm holding out hope for the kids (who don't exist and might not exist), as I found a lovely DH who is 6'2" and all tall and skinny. }( :7 It will be quite obvious whose genes they get!!!

It's like the crane pose in yoga -- where you balance your body onto your forearms while you are sort-of in a squatting position with the legs. It LOOKS hard but it's actually not. When I teach this move in yoga, I hear the newbies always chuckle or say "awww..." because they automatically assume they can't do it. I say try it with your feet on tip-toes then lift one off the floor, find your balance, and then the other. Most can do it. The more advanced stay in that balanced pose for a long time. And as Cathe would say...it looks so cool.
