Cathe, I’m in awe that you could still do high impact with a bad knee like that. Both my knees are bad, and I can’t jump like you, or I’d cripple myself. I make do with steroid injections once in a while. You sound great, and I wish you a speedy and full recovery You are amazing!

Yes, I was bone on bone for at least two years but surprisingly still able to do certain levels of high impact. My biggest limitations were lunging, jumping hopping or stepping on the left leg exclusively without any assistance from the right leg.

I was modifying around it for quite a few years already, but the last two years became the most uncomfortable. Once I noticed that my quad muscles started to atrophy from limited range of motion and atrength, as well as when I noticed that I wasn’t going up and down steps properly and fluidly , I wanted to get it fixed. I tried a few steroid injections in the knee, gel injections in the knee etc. it didn’t help enough, and I was basically just putting off the inevitable.
 
My father had one does a little over a year ago and he was in his 70's. He did great. I went up there to help with day to day stuff since my mother rarely drives due to vision issues. His recovery was pretty fast since he stayed with what he was suppose to do and I made him relax when he was suppose to (that was the hardest part). I stopped going up there to help after about 10 days and it took about 3-4 weeks when he was able to back on his walks in the morning, just short walks at first. Now he's doing great and is having no issues at all. Best of luck Cathe and take your time, we'll be here when you get back.

Thank you for being authentic and transparent. Everyone of us goes through some sort of setback, or a series of non-stop setback. We, as a fitness community, should stand united and uplift each other.

I'm sure a lot of us have been through injuries and surgeries and know how difficult it is. But to be a public figure (who we adore!) and for it to be such a part of who you are and your livelihood, I can imagine it is a whole different level of difficulty! However, you have bravely shared with us before concerning your detached retina and your rotator cuff injury, and I have no doubt you will handle your knee replacement and recovery with grace. I admire you for sharing with us all as we may learn from your experience. And to echo everyone, here's to a speedy recovery! And Happy Holidays!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! On 12-11-2024, I had a total abdominal hysterectomy along with removal of both fallopian tubes and my left ovary. I had a 9 cm mucinous cystadenoma that ended up being benign. So thankful for normal pathology.

So I’m shut down from working out for 6 weeks and I can’t wait to carefully ease back into things once cleared by my doctor. While I want to eventually resume heavy weight training, I also want to be mindful of my pelvic floor when resuming workouts. I’m walking around the block twice a day and never needed pain meds.

The day of my surgery, a nurse told my husband that I was the 3rd hysterectomy of that morning and she said I did the best of everyone. At 48 years old, I credit that to being fit and want to thank you for keeping me fit.

I dealt with a lot of anxiety leading up to my surgery, mainly due to the possibility of cancer because although my dr said she didn’t believe cancer was present, a frozen section was done in the OR meaning a pathologist was right there doing their thing in case cancer was found. I did my favorite workout, Cardio Slam 5 days before my surgery and then the Monday and Tuesday before did a heavy upper and lower body workout to go out with a bang!

I am WAY older but am now staring down the same thing. my kneecap is not tracking right and it limits my activity in workouts. still able to hike and ride ok.
informing all of us about your procedure and what led up to it certainly gives me new hope and a better attitude toward what I will be doing soon.

Thanks so much for all the inspiration you provide and for facing the facts and moving forward bravely. when I talk to my surgeon soon I will be thinking of you.

What you have done the past few years as you've dealt with the pain is absolutely remarkable! High impact and leading workouts for us without one complaint or letting on. You are one strong cookie!!! Incredible! So glad you were able to get this done and prayers for a speedy and full recovery. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to learning more about the type of surgery you chose.
