Cathe, your opinion on rotations??

Hey, Cathe!!

Do you prefer a set workout rotation, or just wing it??? I have tried a set rotation a couple of times, only to find myself saying things to the effect of..."Do I really have to do this one again??" when I really feel lile popping in Drill Max instead.

I'm smart enough to mix it up where I never strength train on back to back days, and am really enjoying circuit training..Drill Max, Boot Camp are two of my faves, and I like to keep the body guessing, I guess what I'm asking is, is there any harm in not following a rotation, and just doing what feels good and fun on a particular day, just as long as it's not total body weight work on back to back days?

Thanks as always!

Great question. Being new to Cathe, I'm just introducing myself to the idea of rotations and look forward to learning more.

Hi,

I'm not Cathe, but I'm putting in a vote for her rotations. I just starting using the rotations a couple of years ago and always, winged it pretty good before. Since I started following a rotation, I realized that it forced me to do workouts that I probably wouldn't have chosen because I didn't feel like it and that doing something that I didn't feel like doing pushed me to the next level. Plus, I think Cathe is a genius when it comes to developing rotations. At the end of the month, I'm always like, wow! What I mean, is there is definitely a trick to effectively sequencing the workouts. I just finished the June 07 rotation and got excellent results. I would never have put that together on my own.

While I think Cathe's rotations are an excellent option, there is nothing wrong with doing your own thing using Cathe's DVDs. I have never tried a rotation and I am not sure I ever will until the STS because I am an experienced lifter and like to do different things everytime I workout. Sometimes I'll lift heavy, sometimes endurance,l and sometimes circuit. It all depends on the mood I am in or how I want my body to look. Also, by changing things up, your body never knows what to expect...which is a good thing!

Hi again,

I'm not suggesting that you have to do a rotation every month, but I do think that dilligent planning in advance yields the best results. This became very clear to me after completing Cathe's rotations and P90X twice; sequencing of workouts makes a huge difference. If you plan your workouts when you are not fatigued and purely based on what good exercise research says, it probably will look much different than if you choose your workouts based on how you feel, JMO.

I know I've gotten better results by using planned rotations. When DH and I were cross country riding this past week he swears I have more strength per square in in my legs than he does.

Tracy,

Hi, I'm faily new to Cathe's workouts. You said you just finished the June '07 rotation. Does Cathe have rotations that she recommends posted somewhere? I rotate her various workouts on my own, but from your comment, I take it she has has posted recommended rotations somewhere, is that correct?

Well, I have decided to follow the June 08 rotation, which should be forthcoming in a couple of days, and see how that goes.

BTW, Sherri, there is a seperate forum for video rotations where forum members and Cathe alike post a rotation monthly, and some of Cathe's previous rotations are archived there as well.

Awesome! Thanks for telling me about this Jerry. Every day I find a new reason for loving Cathe more and more!
