Cathe, what is a good protein shake?

I have been on the fence for this. I have read different things about protein shakes, but I am looking for one that will BENEFIT you before or after a hard workout. Also, is it better to have the shake before or after your workout. There are so many brands on the market, I am confused as to which one would be beneficial for me.

Thanks.

Hi Linda! Wish I could be of more help to you, but I'm actually not a protein shake/bar connoisseur. I personally don't view shakes as my ultimate before or after workout fuel but rather the best possible food choice for when I can't get to a proper meal. Bars/shakes seem to produce a lot of flatulence in my system therefore making me more uncomfortable than its worth. But, one protein "drink" that works for me is ISOPURE. Not the shake version but the simple fruit flavored juice. Its the texture of water and doesn't cause me a lot of gastric distress. I use this drink as a supplement when I lift a lot and need more protein in my system to help repair my muscles. It works for me when I don't have the opportunity to eat enough times a day to get that protein in me.

Hope this helps!

I am not Cathe, but my favorite protein shake is Whey Best by Scitec. It dissolves completely in water or milk and has a lot less calories than some other shakes (I think only 80 when mixed with water). The best thing about it is that it doesn't clump up and easily mixes with a spoon. Many shakes claim to do this but do not. The chocolate tastes good to me also, even in water. I think each scoop is about 20 grams of protein. I am lactose intolerate but this does not upset my stomach at all. I buy mine online at:

That is a good price and the shipping is fast.

Hope this helps!
