Cathe The Countdown

Hi Cathe, just wanted to see how you are doing with your pregnancy? Not long now, I remember you posted that your due date was April 24th, well I hope it is on that day because my birthday is April 24th and my daughter's is April 21st. Good luck with everything and hope all goes well and you have a healthy baby. Also, I was wondering I worked out with both my kids, I am 37 and my son is 12 and my daughter is 9, I had them both early and they were tiny, my son was 5lb 9oz and my daughter was 6lb 2oz do you think babies are smaller if you work out. How much did your first baby weigh? Just curious. Again, best wishes to you and your husband.

Hi Elvira! Thanks so much for the well wishes, I just came back from my weekly check up and all is looking great. I tested positive for the strep B test (I did with Eric too) and will have an antibiotic put in my IV on "labor day". The due date was pushed forward to April 23rd, big difference huh;-)!

I have heard that working out while pregnant can produce lower fat babies for some but I am not sure just how accurate this is, especially when it comes to applying that thought to every single person who works out. I'll have to check this out with Sheila. I can't use myself in this statistic because I delivered 3 1/2 weeks early with Eric and that was obviously related to why he was only 5 pounds 15 ounces at birth. Take care:)!

Thats good news Cathe, that is funny because my son, Todd, was 3 weeks and 4 days early and my daughter, Janine, was only 2 weeks 5 days early, so yes, that is why they were small, but I was wondering if they were early because of working out. I don't know, but I would rather have them small, as long as they are healthy, they both put the weight on fast enough, it makes it easier for Mom. Well, again, good luck. - Pam

Hi Cathe,
I'm glad to hear that everything went well at your check-up. I know that the last few weeks can seem like forever.I just wanted to add my opinion on working out and the effect on baby's birth weight. I worked out with your videos (with much modifications)during my second pregnancy and my son weighed 9 lbs. and was right on time.I was also able to give birth naturally (after having a C-section with my first baby) and I believe that was possible because I had been exercising during my pregnancy.I hope you have an easy and fast delivery!

I worked out during baby #2, had him 4 weeks early (induced because of problems) and he was still 6 lbs, 2 oz - at 4 weeks early! Some of us just have big babies. Baby #1 was 9lbs 3 oz.
I don't think you can credit the small babies to working out for every woman.

BTW Cathe, I was born on the 18th, hope you go a little early :)!

Cathe,
I don't post very often but I wanted to wish you all the best with your upcoming labor and delivery.
I love your videos and enjoy reading all the posts.

My experience with exercising and my pregnancies were all different: With baby #1, I never worked out at all and was one week early. She was only 5.5 lbs, (she was very sick which was the reason for the low birthweight). With baby #2 I worked out throughout my whole pregnancy and he was 8.5 lbs and one week late. Baby #3 I worked out, and she was 6.5 lbs and one week late. I definately felt better during the pregnancies that I exercised and I also believe that it helped me to have two successfull VBAC's.

Group B strep

Hi Cathe! I also tested positive for Group B Strep with all three of my kids. When I first asked my doctor to test me, he told me I didn't need the test. After reading up on it and reading about all of the babies that had died because of it, I couldn't understand why ALL pregnant women aren't tested. So if anyone out there is pregnant, make sure you get the test! A dose of antibiotics during labor could save your baby's life!
