Cathe step vs. Reebok step

I have seen the step Cathe uses in sporting good stores and through the link on this site to order it. I already own the Reebok step but was thinking about getting this other step... I have tile floor and use a yoga mat under my Reebok step so it won't slip, and it seems like the step Cathe uses is more sturdy, slip resistant and maybe easier on the joints? I don't want to waste my money so if the Reebok step is just as good I'll stick with it, but I just wanted to check with the educated Cathe crowd before I made any final decisions. This forum is awesome and you all have helped me with so much! Thanks! Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Hey Sarah! There have been many posts in the past debating this same question, there are also just as many opinions. But since I have both, Ill just add in my humble opinion. I first had the Reebok step and used it for quite a while, when I started doing Cathe after a while I ordered the "Step Co" step and I absolutely LOVE it. Its bigger than Reebok and , to me, seems to be MUCH easier on my knees. It is very sturdy and is just more accomodating to Cathes tapes. Some people still like Reebok better for one reason or another (its easier to transport and store) but I wouldnt go back to using it, I think the STEP blows it away. Judy

Thanks for your advice! I thought the Step Co. step looked more cushioned and bouncy, and it does seem bigger. Does it have skid proof rubber on the bottom? Did you buy it online or at a Sporting Goods store? I think I might go ahead and get one since I plan on adding more of Cathe's step videos to my workout routine. What are some of your favorite videos? I can devote 60 mins at a time to working out and don't like dancy choreography but am an advanced exerciser who wants a high energy workout. I currently have Interval Max, Step Heat (love it!), Circuit Max, Cardio Kicks (love love love it!), and Power Hour (tho I haven't tried it yet). I was thinking about making Step Max my next video, or Mega Step Blast. Which do you suggest? I've had the most votes so far for Step Max, but I'd like more opinions. Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-06-02 AT 11:28PM (Est)[p]I would vote for Power Max. It is an intense workout but easy to learn. I also like Rhythmic Step, though it takes a little time to learn. But worth it -- it is FUN, FUN, FUN! FYI - you can get the Original Step for $65 at www.fitness1st.com - platform w/ 2 sets of risers (or $35 for platform and $20 for 1 set of risers, if you only use 6").

Hey Sara! I just went and took a closer look at my step and see that the bottom of the step and the risers have a rubber ringy type thing in each corner to keep it from moving. I workout on carpet but just for you I took it into my foyer where there is tile and tested it and it didnt BUDGE! I bought mine online and whatever the link Cathe has on this site(directly from the Step Co.) Hmm, now about my favorites... since I have all of them, its so hard to remember which one is which, but off the top of my head, (BTW I too dont like dancy choreography but am advanced and love a high intensity w.o.! so we have a lot in common!) Cardio kicks is my FAV. I like both Step Max and Mega Step but favor Step Max more, I guess only because its a little newer (I think..see, I cant keep them straight!) But if you like intensity and are advanced then Max Intensity Cardio is the way to go (it is, however, about 70 minutes I think though) Its killer!!!!!!Another good one is the Wedding video, its like getting 2 workouts on one tape, one cardio and one strength!Let me know what you choose!!!! Judy

PS sara, I would stay away from Step Works and Rythmic Step for now if you dont like dancy stuff, dont get me wrong they are good workouts (and some peoples Favorites) but the choreography is a much harder to catch on to, just my opinion. Judy

HEY! Oh, thanks for testing your step for me! :0) I went ahead and ordered one from the link on Cathe's site. I can't wait to get it. I also ordered an Ivanko barbell from paragonsports.com, so I'm anxiously waiting for my new equipment. I have Cardio Kicks, Interval Max, Circuit Max, Step Heat, and Power Hour. I haven't tried PH yet, I'm waiting for my new barbell to do it. As for the other vids, I LOVE cardio kicks and Step Heat, Interval Max I haven't done in along time but I know I love it too, same for Circuit Max. I think next I'll order Step Max, since it's gotten so many recomendations on the forum. Thanks for your help!
