Cathe - Step Question

Hi Cathe!

I love your workouts, and I am currently doing your November rotation and anxiously awaitng the Body Blast DVDs!

My question - I currently use a wooden step made by my husband that measures the dimensions of the Health Club Step. I am considering asking for the Step and the High Step for Christmas presents. My question is, does the health club step "give" any when stepping, and thus "easier" on the knees? (I've thought about attaching a rubber mat on top of my current step.) I am wondering if the request for the step as a gift would be worth it, or if I am ok using what I'm using, could I ask for something else? ;-)

Thanks for your time, and thanks for your AWESOME work!

Jen,
Although I am not Cathe, I had to respond to your post. My husband had made me a step out of some wood and lightweight building material. It was really nice, considering what it was, and I hated to still want the plastic Club Step.

However, I was able to find (thanks to a tip from someone at Videofitness.com) a real Step Company step right in my neighborhood for only 5 dollars!!

I didn't want to hurt my hubby's feelings, but the step he made was an accident waiting to happen. It did not have the same "give" as the Step, and the corners were not rounded like the Step's were either. That rounded-off shape allows for a lot more freedom of movement when you're in action, you'll see. So if you can get a real step without hurting your husband's feelings, I say, please ask for it.

I am not Cathe either...but when step started in 1990, my husband also made me a step out of plywood...10" by 14"..and about 3 feet long. Can you believe I used that for awhile until I traded services with a client of mine and got a Reebok Step. Which is adjustable at 6", 8" and 10". I am only 5'4" and amazingly my knees are fine..:) . I can use the 14" wood one for the "High Step" though, and it is perfect for the new "Legs and Glutes" video. If you can get a regular Club Step at a good price, it would be worth it. Carole

Hi Jen! Although I can tell you are hoping to be able to save room on your Christmas list for something else besides the health club step, I have to say you won't believe the difference in comfort and convenience with a health club step.........and yes, they are shock absorbent too:7

Hi Jen,
Saw your message and just thought I would pass this along. If you are looking for an inexpensive Step and can't wait until Xmas, you might want to check on Ebay. I have had great success buying things from there. They have a lot of steps.

Jen, you might also want to check walmart.com. Their step is the cheapest I've seen. And anyone who's seen cheaper, please let us know.:)

Thanks for all of the replies! My brother is in charge of getting the High Step w/ one riser, and my mom is getting the Step. :)
