Cathe, PS wipes me out

Hi,
I'm on my 4th week of doing the PS series once a week. The last 2 weeks I included the Body Max upper body ( hoping to get the shoulders going ... there's a Tank Top rotation that's very popular on the board that I hope to sometime be able to do but can't manage yet). I love the series! I can see a lot of improvement in my biceps and yesterday saw a slight v in my delts!!!
My only problem is it wipes me out soooo bad that I can't get to my cardio. I'm lucky if I can do 2 in the same week and have to really make myself do one. I need to lose the KEG!( It really is a keg). My weights aren't even incredibly heavy which is so embarrassing. I don't get sore but just feel very tired like after S&H ...and hungry all the time.
Is this just an adjustment period and will I be okay with very little cardio while this happens?

You may not be eating enough

You may not be eating enough. Weight training requires more energy and you may need to eat more on the days you train.
Try adding 200-250 extra calories on weight training days and see if that makes a difference in your energy level. Also, are you getting enough sleep and does the remainder of your diet provide all the essential nutrients? Weight training stresses the muscles (that's how they grow) so you must be sure to fuel yourself properly and get adequate rest while you're doing it.

RE: You may not be eating enough

My apetite has definitely increased! I crave sweets more too. It needs more attention because lately I'm just either working or sleeping. I'm rather proud of myself because I actually got in 2 cardios this week. So I did PS, Super Cardio, Rhythmic step and the upper body of Body Max. It was tough to get that all in because I'm so exhausted lately. Not getting enough cardio makes me feel very guilty.

RE: You may not be eating enough

Hey, Batgirl. When I did a 6 wk S&H rotation, I did the same thing. ATE and SLEPT, ATE and SLEPT.... Gained 5 lbs. My clothes were not tighter, but they weren't loser. I didn't do much cardio. So, for me, I have to do cardio and I'm gonna have to limit my heavy wt work to one week at a time. At least, till I make goal.

Just my experience.

RE: You may not be eating enough

My experience has been that I just don't lose much fat when I'm lifting heavy. I have to use light weights to see fat loss. I'm only one person however, and plenty of people say just the opposite.

Try the lighter weight approach and see if it helps. Another thing, when I get really tired from exercise it is sometimes a sign that I am coming down with something. Respect your body's limitations and give it the rest it needs.
