The pre-mixes are a technological advance that helps set Cathe's workouts apart from whatever else is on the market. A reasonable number of pre-mixes allow the flexibility in training and time management that home exercisers need to meet various and individual goals.
Used in isolation, DVD chapters may allow faster access to specific points, but fail to take full advantage of what makes the technology so useful for folks who want to plan and coordinate their own workouts--especially if only one workout is offered on each DVD. It may take longer to fast forward a VHS tape to a particular point, but without pre-mixes and/or some other mix and match capability, there's really no advantage to the more costly DVD format if ONLY chapter points are used.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not advocating a return to VHS tapes, and I've already preordered the entire HardCore series. However, DVDs that feature at least 2 complementary workouts, pre-mixes and/or a mix and match feature really expand the range of options available to customers. Call me crazy, but I love to do business with a company that seeks to creatively expand service and appeal, and makes a committment to stay on the cutting edge of consumer expectation. I thought the IS and BB premixes were a stroke of genius, and I would be disappointed if SNM back-tracked to more primitive, less flexible methods.
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. It's wise to work on the real problem. If techological capacity has created customer service problems, then trouble-shoot, tweak, and/or tone down the technology a teeny bit and revamp the customer service to accommodate the new glitches. For example, you can add a disclaimer statement to your product that specifies minimum player standards. Or, you can include a little technical information to the product description so savvy consumers can better know what to expect. For the most part, however, I'm guessing your customers would rather take a chance on a technologically advanced product instead of playing it safe with a run of the mill one.
Thanks for listening and good luck!
