Cathe, as you look so so so AMAZING in the new series it would be great if you would tell me (like you did for the intensity series) how you managed to acheive such a buff appearance. And how you got "so fit".

Thank you for you time.

Now that I have previewed most of these workouts, I can make a stab at what Cathe's answer might be!

Imagine conceiving each workout, and as you design it, rehearsing each part to see how it feels. Now imagine doing that for all ten of the workouts. Now imagine that they're all set the way they'll be, and rehearsing them with the cast.

You have to rehearse at least once if not 3 or 4 times with the cast. Each and every workout! This is after doing them on your own. Then, with filming, I'm sure there are some passages that had to be done over.

While you're busy doing all this, you can't have big liesurely meals, because there's not much time and you can't work with a full stomach. So you have to have smaller meals. So, you have to make every calorie count because your work is taking it out of you.

So I bet there isn't very much "extra" preparation Cathe had to do in order to look the way she does in this series.

By the way I think Cathe looks great, but I think she also looks smashing with a nice little layer of fat over everything. Fat (body fat, a reasonable thickness) is like a little airbrush over everything, on a female. Not that I've seen that on Cathe!- except in some shots where she is pregnant maybe.

I know Cathe isn't basing her lifestyle on my preferences, but my own lifestyle allows for a lot more fluff.

I am in awe and extremely grateful for her hard work and dedication. I'm so glad I could afford to buy the series.

I bet Cathe is enjoying some time off and maybe having some butternut squash soup. At least I hope so!

i, too, would like cathe's response to this!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

Hi Icklemoley! Thank you so much, how nice of you. You may notice a big difference if you are comparing my appearance to the last series we just filmed (Basic Step/Body Fusion) because I filmed that series while nursing "tennis elbow" (which I got from a day of bowling) and was not able to train heavy and/or do certain exercises with heavy weight for a few months.

So once hardcore was announced, I was ready and longing to train hard.

With many obligations on my plate, I had to budget my time wisely and be accountable to my workouts. That's when I decided to work with my trainer/friend to keep my focus. I set my goals of wanting to regain the muscle that had atrophied through the tennis elbow ordeal plus gain overall lean muscle mass. I also have been dealing with separated abdominals (diastisis recti) which I developed as a result of my pregnancies (but my cutie pies are so VERY worth it:)) After getting clearance from the doctor that I could train my abs as hard as I wanted without causing further harm, I decided to go for it. Side Note: this separation can be surgically repaired but I have opted not to go that route since it is a very involved procedure.

So I worked out hard and heavy 4 days a week in addition to my classes. I also pushed extra hard on my weaknesses (mostly abs)squeezing in an extra workout for them per week.

4 weeks before filming I was more strict in my diet (no more finishing the kids peanut butter sandwiches;-) and ate super clean. No sauces, low fats, low sodium, low sugar etc. But since we filmed and rehearsed so much, I could occasionally slip in some sinful treats to keep a smile on my face, ha. I also increased my protein quite a bit since I was lifting so heavy. After every lift, I would have an ISOPURE protein supplement.

Thats about it :)

Wow!

You hard worker!

I'm reading your post over and over, Cathe... You have earned a fabulous, enviable physique! I am in awe!

Somehow your post just motivates me to clean up my diet (one of my weakest points)

Thanks!

Connie

Thanks so much for your answer Cathe.I made it through my 40's looking great thanks to you but now I'm feeling like it will become more of a battle against nature.:)

Nancy, Cathe mentioned she got tennis tlbow from Bowling, not from Tennis. The term tennis elbow is just that, a term, refering to many different activities that inflame the elbow joint.

Oh, I have been waiting to hear what you did to prepare for this series. I don't have mine yet, but I am curious about the diastisis recti. I do believe I suffer from this also, although my children are much older than yours, 12 & 15. Actually, in '99 I was small. I had just started working out w/ weights and it changed my body. I was using MIS as a matter of fact. Now, it's not the same. I have to be honest, I'm not as consistent as I use to be w/ my workouts. The way you can determine if you have diastisis recti is if you do a crunch and you can feel an opening, correct?

I am interested in what type of ab routines you did to correct this. I'm not to sure if it is to late for me or not.

Hopefully I will get HC any day now.

Thanks,

Lollie

Hi Cathe! I really enjoy your workouts and I want to get lean as you and the other ladies on the show. I understand I am going to have to eat clean and cut back on the surgary snacks. I have some weight I need to lose but I am well on my way! I just wanted to say THANKS! for the inspiration you give to everyone. I am planning on using your Series to help me develop a leaner body. I also go to the gym and i also a Personal Trainer and will be Certified for Kickboxing. I am using you tapes as my Personal Trainer. I am also trying to take in account what I put in my mouth.:) That's the hard part for me! The workouts are challengeing but my biggest deal is the food. Do the Protein supplements help with hungry and what do you do for craving the sugars? I understand if I elimate sugars the cravings with not be as bad? Thanks for any suggestions you have! You are awesome!!!:) :)
