Good afternoon Cathe - Is is common to work out pretty consistently and still fit in the same size clothes? I find it odd that I've not lost dress size, although I've lost some inches around the middle (unfortunately I never took measurements to compare with). I feel i look better in my clothes though. The scale says 3 more pounds ugh!!.

I work out with weights sometimes heavy sometimes total body. I do short cardio sessions at least 4 times per week and one longer on the 5th day. I try to eat 5 small meals but I know I need guidance there. Is clean eating coupled with this workout regimen I've outlined the one thing I need to see a drop in clothing size?

Thank you.

You got it Carmen. Keep at it...you already are on your way. Losing inches is awesome and a better indicator of improvement than weight loss since weight loss can fluctuate from 2 to even 5 pounds per day due to a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with working out. I am a measurer at heart myself. Keep up the great work :)

RE: UPDATE - Cathe is is common to

Hi Cathe - its been about one month since I asked this question. Since then I cleaned up the eating and kept faithful to heavy weights and reduced cardio and guess what has happened.....I have lost 6 pounds!!!! I could not believe the scale this morning. This morning my husband commented that my hips looked slimmer and back side firmer. I'm starting to see more def in the shoulders and biceps too. I cant thank you enough for the wonderful workouts, educational forums and inspirational and motivational words. You are the BEST.

God bless.

RE: UPDATE - Cathe is is common to

Woo-Hoo!! Good for you!

It's weird how this all works. I can't seem to lose inches and pounds simultaneously. Sometimes, I take my measurements (which I do every Wednesday morning) and hardly nothing has changed. But the pounds are going down and my pants are loose at the waist (and often snug in the thighs... go figure - and it depends on which pants we're talking about). Other times, my pants are snug but the pounds are coming off OR the scale isn't budging, pants are loose, and measurements are down. I've been able to (mostly) figure out how what I eat and when I work out effects the number on the scale but this measurements/weight/how my clothes are fitting thing... I can't find any correlation. Sometimes I wonder if everything isn't just shifting around on me. The fat IS coming and I can see definition so I know all the weight training is working. Perhaps I'm getting smaller because I'm losing fat but gaining weight because I'm gaining muscle? But that's not always the case so.... hmm.
