Here are some drawings my 5-year old did of me exercising. There is also one of him working out with me to a video (using his stool and a little handweight). He didn't do the whole video--just the tricep kickbacks for some reason.

Isaac is so talented! Aren't these drawings the bestest????

Isaac is the same age as my little girl (DOB 7/31/02), Cecily...so I assume he will be starting Kindergarten too? Isn't it hard to believe that 5 years + have passed by somehow?

BTW - I love your blog...you are great at keeping up with it! Keep up the hard work!!! :) :)

Thanks, Denise! Wow, they really are close in age--Isaac's birthday was 8/4. He is starting Kindergarten next Thursday and I'm kind of freaking out about it (my husband laughs that I'm so nervous) but Isaac is very excited.

Yeah, thanks for reading my blog. I actually need to update it tonight, probably. :)

I think it's funny that he likes to "sign" his name on the pictures--though he gets creative with where he puts the letters. He knows how to spell Isaac, but he doesn't always get that it's supposed to go from left to right. ;)

I can totally understand your nerves about school...today was Cecily's first day and I am a disaster! I actually have biten off ALL of my fingernails...GROSS...and am in semi-pain! I should have kept my fake pretty ones on a little longer, but I really thought I would have more self-control that this. I am feeling totally crazy for being soooo nervous. I actually just picked her up from school and I am still anxious!

My husband doesn't really understand either. I think it stems from my being bullied as a child. He thinks school was fun, but all I can see is the sea of torture. I just pray that Cecily is stronger than I was and stands up for herself, and I believe she will because I taught her to be stronger than I was at that age. Her situation is different, but somehow I just have a hard time when I recall those years. :(

Here's to Isaac's first day and I will keep him in my prayers too!

Oh, poor you! You really do sound nervous. I'm nervous that he's going to be freaked out when he gets there, and I'm nervous about my little baby growing up, but I hadn't even worried about bullying (though maybe now I will as Isaac is a very gentle spirit). I was not bullied much in grade school because I had big brothers at the high school (in a building attached to the elementary school--very small town school) who would defend me if it had been necessary. Everyone knew about my brothers, so I think that protected me. I did get picked on sometimes because everyone also knew my stepdad was the high school principal. I do remember not liking my Kindergarten teacher, though, and I hope Isaac doesn't feel that way. I hope his teacher is as great as so many of the other ones I remember!

I will keep you and Cecily in my prayers--I'm sure she'll be really happy at school!

Thanks, Cathe. I knew you would appreciate them as another Mom. Isaac is very patient during my workout time, though he sometimes comes and says "Are you STILL working out, Mommy?" Sometimes he spends the whole time doing his "art." Well, I haven't yet scanned another picture he did of me lifting weights with word bubbles above my head. It looks like I'm yelling "no Isaac" at him while I work out. Probably that's from a day when I could hear him and his brother fighting while I was trying to finish a workout. So there's at least one without the big smile. ;)

What cute drawings -- almost as cute as your little boy himself! He has a wonderful smile, and I love the little "baby definition" on his tiny forearms during those triceps kickbacks! Great form -- must get it from watching his mom, and Cathe! :7

Hi Lainie! Sorry it took me so long to come back to comment. I wanted to tell you that since then my sons have been so impressed with your sons art work that they asked me twice already to look at their art galleries again. My 7 year old would say "how old is that boy mommy?". He just loves all the attention to detail your son puts in the pictures and points out each thing in every picture. Thank you so much for sharing. You have quite the artist in the making there. Tell him we love his work. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Cathe! Isaac is one of those very shy and quiet kids who has a lot of little secret talents like he's musical and artistic (for a 5-year old). I look forward to seeing how he grows up. I'm glad your sons like his stuff. :)

Cathe, I don't know if you'll see this, but I wanted to add that Isaac also likes to use tinkertoys to build barbells and dumbbells; then he and his little brother Ewan walk around the house "exercising" with them.
