Wow! What a blast! I taught my first fitness class and I just pretended I was you. ;) I've taught lots of fitness and gymnastics for kids and students but this was my first time to teach adults and I was a bit nervous about it, but once the music started, I just remembered everything I had planned and it went without a hitch. I have to say in planning for this, my respect for what you do has quadrupled and I had you up there pretty high to start with! :) You are a great teacher for me and my people were most enthusiastic about it. I told them all about you, of course. The setting was a women's church retreat, so I had a VERY wide range of skills. One lady who came was 88 years old! Isn't that so cute! :)
Have a great day! I know you must be busy planning!!!! :D

Amy,

Congrats on teaching your first fitness class to adults! I bet you did a great job! Here's a quick <<<hug>>> for you all the way from San Diego! :D

Amy!

My goodness, where have you been? It's so good to see a post from you.

Congratulations on your class. I'm sure you were great!:D

I often think of your cousin and continue to pray that she and her family is well.

Amy, how awesome. Where are you teaching? I'd love to take a class of yours. You know we are practically neighbors.:p ;-)

Thanks for the well-wishes, both for me and my family. That class was an offering at our church ladies retreat. We had 700 in attendance at the retreat, so they just wanted to offer several things that would appeal to various groups. Sort of like an elective. :) We had about 60 people choose to get up early for workouts each day. Plans are underway to offer something in the summer on a weekly basis, so Marla, I'd love for you to join us. Bring your Dyna-band. :) It will be toning/kickboxing, for the most part.
As for my family, we/they are still plodding along. My mom is there today to help them with their FEMA visit. Basically, they got electricity restored and are living in their home, but it is sort of hovel-like with only temporary coverings on the roof and one side wall. Their land is very valuable right now, because they are not in a flood plain, so they are leaning toward selling it. However, for now, they are still trying to focus on cleaning up and salvaging whatever they can. I should know more when my mom comes home. I can tell you that they are SOOOOOO thankful for the prayers, for their life, for the generosity of others, and for the opportunity to share what they have been given. Life is not what they expected it to be, but they are finding some unexpected blessings there, too. Waves of depression do set in, but overall, they are hanging in there and learning to be thankful in everything.
Thanks so much for asking!
Love,
Amy

Amy, that is great! You'd make an awesome instructor! How neat that you are planning to continue it in the summer. Let me know if you need any suggestions for Hi/Lo combos, band work, strength work....I'm so glad it went well and that you were at ease. It was so nice of you to donate your special gift of fitness to them.
