Cathe--frequency of cardio?

I am so confused! I keep hearing so many different theories of how often cardio should be done to maximize weight loss--the latest being about twice a week, along w/more weightlifting.

I admit I'm a cardio junkie, but that's more b/c I feel loose & flabby when I don't do it. :eek:

I would love your insight on this--I'm hoping the answer isn't "it's different for everyone." ;)
 
I'd love to hear Cathe's input on this as well, but I'm guessing her answer may be the one you don't want to hear! :( I just completely revamped my workout approach from minimal cardio for 8 months with no weight loss to a minimum of 60-90 minutes 6 days a week and presto! I'm on a consistent 2 pound a week loss!
Can't wait to see what others have experienced.

Right now I am fortunate to be able to workout twice a day.
I just started running about 6 weeks ago, so I run 4 mornings a week for 40 - 80 minutes (3-6.5 miles). (T,TH,F,Saturday) F/S are usually my long run days so I don't usually do any other cardio. M/W/Th I do some sort of morning cardio (usually elliptical for 30-45 minutes) and then cycle for 45 minutes in the evening. Tuesday, I had been doing Zumba at night for an hour, but I think I'm going to switch up to kickbox for summer.And I have a 1 year old golden retriever who I try to walk daily for 45 -60 minutes. I've just started using cardio coach while walking her to try and boost it into an actual cardio exercise.

In between the cardio I work in weights, yoga, abs and pilates.

Yes, I freely admit to being an addict. They actually call me crazy at the Y where I do a lot of my workouts. Right now I'm using Cathe mostly for my lower body. Hoping to get STS in the fall!

Now that I am tracking calories at my fitness pal, the mystery isn't why I haven't lost weight, but why I didn't gain weigh over the past 8 months! I was easily eating over 3000 calories a day! :( But now that I'm tracking things are starting to come together!
I sure wish you could pick either exercise or diet to lose weight :p
But I've finally figured out it is 90% diet.:confused:

Hi Cathe! I saw you might be around so I'm bumping. Still overwhelmed with information.

And, to be more specific, what's confusing me most is the opinion that too much cardio burns muscle. I thought the body used carbs & fat as fuel, not muscle. I don't get it! :p
