Cathe: Form in CardioKicks

Oh, my GOSH! Cathe is breathtaking when doing kickboxing workouts. Her form is perfect. Her jabs, punches, hooks and upper cuts are flawless. My jaws just hit the floor when I see her in those workouts. In Cardiokicks when she asks the guys to come up front for motivation, I'm thinking, "GIRL! You're all the motivation I need". I love that workout. And the music motivates me too.
How did Cathe get so polished in kickboxing? Lots of practice? Did it come naturally?

How does Cathe do her tough workouts and cue too?!?!?! She's amazing and deserves the respect she's given.

I know many of you share my impressions of Cathe, but I am just blown away by all her workouts. Very few others can I do without thinking what a waste of time that was.

You're talking about cardio kicks? I think her form was kind of off, especially in jabs (watch the elbows that flare out a bit). Her form got much better in Boot Camp, so I can't wait to see the new kicboxing workouts!

I think her form is great too especially considering she is branching out into all NEW territory. I love the fact that she just keeps adding to her original talent(step) which gives us so much more variety. Now, when is she going to release that Yoga/Pilates-style tape for us????? We'll wait. It will be worth it.

You know, there's always a bit of controversy about whether or not Cathe should make a yoga-style tape (which I'm all for). Judging from the workouts she does and the incredible chaptering of her DVD's, you might conclude that Cathe is a perfectionist. Therefore, before she made a yoga video, she would make certain sure that it would be up to her usual standards of excellence. I'd buy it for the chaptering alone!

I just bet that Cathe might really consider doing a yoga workout in the future, seeing that, right now, yoga/strength workouts seem to be all the rage (Hard Body Yoga, et. al.)

This is may favorite workout. I love all of the workouts thus far but I consider this one a special treat. I just ordered weighted gloves to wear when I do this workout - I can't wait until they arrive. When I have to go out of town over night I take my laptop and this DVD and kickbox in the motel room.

I know JUST what you mean! If it's not Cathe, I always question whether or not it's going to move me forward in my fitness goals. Very few have made me feel they're worth doing when I could be doing a Cathe vid.

Hi RhiannonW! Wow, thank you so much. What an endearing post. I'm blushing over here:). Do you have Kick, Punch and Crunch? If you like Cario Kicks, I am sure you will enjoy Kick, Punch, and Crunch. I put a little more emphasis on form in Kick, Punch, and Crunch since the workout was more kickbox specific. Cardio Kicks included more hi/lo choreography mixed with kickbox. In any case, both workout styles are very challenging and get the job done ;-)

You asked...."How did Cathe get so polished in kickboxing? Lots of practice? Did it come naturally?"

Actually, just months before Cardio Kicks came out I was pregnant with my first child and attended my Kickbox certification. I had to modify heavily being pregnant but managed to excute the moves at a very careful pace and pass the written exam too. Since we filmed so soon after having the baby I decided to make a kickbox workout that focused more on cardio movement with some light punching and kicking drills. There was less emphasis on the technical aspect of the workout.

Now, three years later and with a little more practice, Kick, Punch, and Crunch includes a little more technical aspect however is is designed to be very user friendly, very challenging, and very "fun":7. I still don't claim to be a martial arts expert by any means, but in the intro I share with you some tid bits to help you get the most out of the workout.

For the sake of comparison, Kick, Punch, and Crunch starts with 25 minutes of kickbox drills that are similar in style to that of the second half of Cardio Kicks. Then it breaks off into low impact, high intensity kicking and punching combinations that are more true to kickboxing.

Thanks again for the inspiring words :)
