Hi Cathe,

Do you ever get off track w/ your diet? I feel soooo guilty whenever I know I've consumed too many calories. I workout so hard all week, then I feel like I blow it come weekend. I like to kick back and have some wine, maybe even a sangria or margarita. The thing is, people comlpiment me all the time when I'm out in public about my body. I do know that I look ripped, I've always been petite and muscular... I'm a personal trainer and fitness instructor, and had a baby almost a year ago, but I'm so hard on myself sometimes. I feel like if I ate "bad", I can totally tell the next day. I know some of it is just mental. I'd appreciate any insight you could give me. Thanks.

Welcome Amanda! How timely is THIS post......I am sitting here reading this and munching down tootsie roll migdees (dare I even begin to count the empty wax paper wrappers piled up next to me)....so I guess that answers your question right there :7

Congratulations on your baby.....Wow, you are an inspiration to be ripped, muscular, and a new mom. I know that is not easy to do. Yes, as fitness instructors/trainers we tend to be hard on ourselves since we are considered the role models of our trade and it is important to practice what we preach. I do honestly think though that it is just as important that we be real to our students/clients and show them that occasional treats in moderation are not a bad thing, do not throw our fitness goals way off kilter, and are actually normal and part of what makes life enjoyable. The fact that people are complimenting you all the time shows that you have a good handle on knowing how much is too much. No need to feel guilty...you are a normal, healthy trainer who trains hard, looks great, feels great, and obviously knows what it takes to maintain a fit physique while still celebrating some indulgences in life. What better message than that is there to send out to your clients.

Hugs to the little one and high fives to you!

I am SO glad I clicked on this post. Thanks Cathe! I caved on a candy corn craving this weekend and was feeling SO guilty, but now I'm not feeling as bad. "Celebrating some indulgences in life"... I love that!

:) Oh WOW, I'm so excited to get an email from you!! You are my inspiration! Your workouts got me back into shape after the birth of my daughter. I'm now a stay at home mom so she has watched me workout to your DVD's since she was born...(she's 1 tomorrow)! Thank you so much for responding to my question!:)

Loved your answer, Cathe. I love tootsie rolls! It's nice to see such honesty! Life would be pretty boring if we didn't indulge from time to time. Just gotta keep up with the exercise.

So glad i read this post. i really needed to hear that Cathe is not perfect with her diet every minute. I too am a personal trainer/fitness instructor. Sometimes I feel so much pressure to always be "good" with my diet. It's just nice to hear that other people in my line of work are not always perfect!;)

Gosh, you just have to love Cathe...the humor...the honesty. She's the best! I can just see the tootsie roll pile...haha.
