Cathe/Brazil Butt Lift/Insanity Hybrid

Hi everyone,

I just started a new rotation yesterday. Its a mix-up of Cathe upper body weight workouts, Brazil Butt lift (BBL) lower body workouts and Insanity cardio when I can fit it in. Here's what this week looks like:

Monday - Gym style Chest/Shoulders/Triceps & Brazil Butt Lift Bum Bum

Tuesday - BBL High and Tight & Insanity Pure Cardio

Wednesday - Gym Style - Back, Shoulders & Biceps

Thursday- Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Friday - BBL Bum Bum & Tummy Tuck

Saturday - BBL High and Tight & Insanity Cardio Abs

I just finished 60 days of Les Mills Combat and while I loved it, there was little focus on weight work. My main focus here is on Cathe's upper body weight work and I have a lot of variety - STS, XTrain upper body and Burn Sets, and Gym Style - and the Brazil Butt Lift lower body workouts. I'm throwing in the Insanity cardio when I can just for an extra kick. I've planned each week using the Brazil Butt Lift calendar and omitting the Cardio Axe and Sculpt DVD's. I'm not a dancy person, I tried Cardio Axe and didn't like it and it was hard to do on carpet. Sculpt is OK, but it uses light weights, right now I want to go heavy again.

Meanwhile, I'm making progress on everything for my new job. I took my drug test yesterday, and have an appointment for my landline to be installed tomorrow afternoon. I found my headset/telephone combo package online as well. I'm very excited about this job and what's nice is my training and work schedule will allow me to sleep later and workout after breakfast. I'll be up later for work and training, but to have my mornings free is awesome.

It's funny you post this as I yesterday wrote out a Cathe/Chalean Extreme/Jari Love hybrid rotation. The thing is that today I previewed a workout called Tonique Addicted to Movement and I want to add it at the end of every week so the rotation is not finished yet. I own all those DVDs you are using and I have not done neither of them for awhile. Insanity is tough but I could never get used to the high impact so its gathering dust, GS is amazing, but last year I did it quite a lot and have not done it yet this year, and finally BBL is a hidden gem of a series. Bum Bum and High and Tight are my two favorites, but again I have not used them for awhile. Your rotation looks good, but I would switch Tuesday and Saturday. It seems like you'd be working your core twice in a row with Tummy Tuck on Friday and Cardio Abs on Saturday. Just my two cents. Although seeing that today is Tuesday you probably already worked out and missed that opportunity to switch them. :p

Hi,

The BBL Lift calendar has High & Tight for both Tuesday and Saturday. Also the BBL Lift calendar has Cardio Axe & Tummy Tuck for Thursday and Bum Bum and Tummy Tuck for Friday. I might end up switching the Cardio Abs to Pure Cardio again (a killer!) or even Combat 30. I did High and Tight this morning and just loved it. Pure Cardio just about killed me. It made Cathe's Hiit 40/20 seem like a cakewalk. I'm really trying to first of all, stick with the BBL workouts, except for Cardio Axe and Sculpt, then add in Cathe weight workouts, then add in cardio and finally add in abs as a filler.

Hey, I was just thinking, if you also own GS: Legs you can add the floorwork somewhere in your rotation to shake things up a bit. I believe it's around 24 mins. That floorwork is killer and it has everything: ball work, band work, etc. I add light ankle weights along with the band work to make it harder. As soon as the inner thigh segment with the ball is done I add the ankle weights and keep them on until the end so I can add extra resistance to the inner and outer thigh sections with the band (which I also use in addition to the ankle weights). I also try to focus really hard on the area that I'm working. Just something for you to consider. I add that floorwork segment to a lot of workouts, since it is my favorite from Cathe.

Hi!

That is so funny you mention that, I'm not a huge fan of Gym Style Legs, but I love Lower Body Blast. Right now though I want to totally focus on the Brazil Butt Lift lower body workouts. I've done 4 rotations of STS and want to focus more on shaping and toning rather than going super heavy. I did High & Tight yesterday morning and loved it. Its only 35 minutes, but you use a band like a firewalker loop in one segment and ankle weights in another and I was on fire by the end! I want to focus more on heavy weights for the upper body and I forgot just how good the Gym Style upper body workouts are. I like them because they don't require a ton of equipment. The STS mesocycle 1 upper body workouts move too fast for me, my workout area is very small and I can't get everything done as fast as needed. So I usually have to pause for a bit to change my weights or adjust my bench. This morning I did GS Back Shoulders and Biceps and tomorrow will be Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit.

Yes, High and Tight is pretty awesome. I think the first segment is a waste of time, but segment two with the band and segment three with the ankle weights are really good. I am a lower body workout collector if I may say so, that has always been my trouble zone. GS Legs is not one of my favorite leg workouts either, but the floorwork has done wonders for my lower body and it is only 24 minutes. Oh and yes I agree LBB is good as well. I wasn't saying you should eliminate High and Tight, just maybe give that workout a chance on any day you have 24 extra minutes and don't have High and Tight scheduled, the LBB Barre segment is also short but sweet and can be added to anything you want. Your rotation is really good as is I was just sharing suggestions for those days you have extra time and are up for an extra challenge.

And speaking of lower body workouts I just bought 2 Tonique workouts, I have never heard of Tonique workouts before, but after watching some video clips online, they look really good and I can't wait to try them. The instructor uses a pair of 2 lbs dumbbells and tons of reps.
