Cardio Kicks: Joy and PAIN!

Just what I needed to kick me out of my four-day slump!

I was *smart* and modified when I needed to. Space was a problem, but I did the ENTIRE tape the first time! I did the drills and modified on the higher impact moves. I actually got in several of the jumps and kicks that begin the drills!

In terms of intensity, it was tough but not nearly unbearable like some Firm tapes (TBSM and Super Cardio come to mind). It was *steady* and I love that. I like it when I work hard but don't nearly kill myself and need take breaks to catch my breath and let my heart rate come down. Or worse, grab my inhaler :(

I tried adding an ab workout, but I thought, "If Cathe says I don't need one I'M NOT DOING IT!" This one of my FAVORITE tapes. I'm becoming a Cathe junkie :)

The pretty brunette to Cathe's right with the light blue top was NOT playing during those ice breakers! I thought girlfriend was going to hurt herself! LOL!

Of course the following day I could barely raise my arms. I tried a *beginner* tape (Kacy Duke's "Sculpt and Groove") and could barely get through it. I turned it off after 15 minutes!

I'm ready to do Cardio Kicks again, though. TODAY!

Hi Kimba--
Yep, this is a great tape! I've been adding on the power drills to lots of my other tapes--even though I modify it all to low impact, my heart rate gets way up there... I think by taking the impact out, I not only save my knees, but I can concentrate on putting ALL of my energy into the kicks and punches. I LOVE the feeling I have during this tape, and the next day, when I am usually pretty sore. If I am consistent with the drills (adding on to other tapes twice a week), I don't feel it as much, but if I skip a week I really feel it in my shoulders, back, biceps, triceps, EVERYTHING!!!
Have fun with it :)

Wow! I'm shocked to hear that the Firm's Super Cardio is actually harder than a Cathe video. I always hear people comment that the Firm is only good for strength training and not for cardio. In fact, I've got the impression that some people actually make fun of the Firm when it comes to cardio. I would love to hear other people's opinions about "Super Cardio". I have never tried a Firm cardio tape. Only Tough Tape.

I love SuperCardio, and yes, it is as tough as some of Cathe's tapes. I like the 65 minute length, the variety of routines and instructors. I can't remember exactly, but I think there are 5 routines that call for 5-pound weights, and I never bought their 2-pound ball, but use a little 2 pound weight for those routines. It's all cardio, some routines at high intensity and impact, and ends with a very brief abs section.

Super Cardio is UNBEARABLE, not necessarily tougher...

Super Cardio jacks my heart rate so high and so quickly I have to stop to catch my breath, etc. That's not necessarily a good thing, especially if you have asthma like me :(

Cathe's tapes are tough, and although I don't have a heart rate monitor I don't have to take as many -- if any-- breaks to catch my breath. I DO have to take a full rest day after using Cathe's tapes. The only Firm take that does that to me is Tough Tape and the Tortise (which is TT minus a set of leg presses!).

The last thing I would call Firm's strenght training tapes!!!! There cardio....using less weight, moving 50 billion miles an hour with weights.

I am new to Cathe, and hooked, love the workouts-shoot I even have gotten DH into Cathe!!!!! He's doing her PS series!!!!
I've even gotten a few of his co-workers into her too!!!

I love Cardio Kicks-I needed more cardio tapes without weights.

I have a ton of firms, but frankly after getting into Cathe, I'm not buying anymore firms. You can only have so many AWT's.

Hi Kimba!!!!

Cathe is the BOMB isn't she?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-18-01 AT 11:33PM (Est)[p]Hey Suez!

You can take your fitness goals to a higher level with her tapes! I'm smart enough to REALLY pace myself. So far I'm only doing 1 Cathe tape a week. One week I did 2 (MIC and Circuit Max) and went into *serious* overtraining.

I'm not crazy about step aerobics and wish she'd do more another non-step cardio tape. I'm already hooked on Cardio Kicks! LOL!

If I buy another Firm it will be Power Cardio because I really like Dale as an instructor. With more exposure she'd be right up there with Tracy Long in my book.

Super Cardio

I didn't care for Super Cardio and didn't find it very challenging. I kept it for a while because I wanted to like it, but eventually traded it. It was the best Firm cardio that I had tried, but it wasn't for me.

CARDIO KICKS IS THE TAPE YOU LOVE TO HATE. IT IS SO CHALLENGING AND WHEN YOU ARE DONE YOU ARE SO GLAD YOU DID IT. IT'S LIKE CATHE SAYS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE IN STORE FOR SO YOU HAVE TO REALLY GET YOUR MIND SET FOR IT. I HAVE ALL THE FIRM TAPES AND EVEN THOUGH SUPER CARDIO IS CHALLENGING I DON'T THINK THEY CAN COMPARE TO CATHE'S. SHE'S THE QUEEN. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW TAPES TO COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just have to share what my husband said while doing CardioKicks with me the other day. (I'm not trying to offend anyone, but it was funny and it just rolled right off his tongue...) When Cathe says "Just keep on jackin'" Matt said, "But the nuns told me I'd go blind!"
Just a little humor...

Y'all are going to make her blush!

You KNOW Cathe's going to flip when she sees this post -- she is such a good person and obviously tries to be very careful about what she says and how she says it.

I must say, though, that this is pretty funny!!!!

RE: Y'all are going to make her blush!

I agree totally -- but I think she'll be pink-cheeked while she's chuckling!

Loved It

Cardio Kicks is my first (and at present, only) Cathe workout.

I loved it. It kicked my butt RIGHT into the ground...and I consider myself a pretty advanced cardio girl.

In the section where she says, "Are you guys at home taking a break? Or are you still POWER JUMPING?" I laughed myself silly. I actually said out loud, "How did you KNOW???"

Hee hee. I was "jump roping" during the power jumping segment toward the end.

I'm sold. Pain never felt so good, huh?
