cardio core curcuit/curcuit blast

My two cents...

I think it depends. Every body is different and what's HIIT to one person, might not be another. For instance, HIIT to a beginner might be burpees, or squat thrusts, but to an advanced practitioner, those might be a cake-walk. I would classify these workouts at HIIT and plyometrics since the jumping creates an extra load on the bones to increase bone mass, but your heart rate becomes elevated too. In fact I classify plyometrics as HIIT for most of my clients. Unless you are very seasoned, plyometrics will most definately elevate your heart rate for a short period of time as in HIIT. That said, if you are more athletic and are used to training at high intensity, then it might just be the load bearing benefits of the plyometrics that you classify this exercise at, but if you are just beginning plyometrics, you are getting HIIT too! In either case, always set yourself up for a challenge in work-load and in heart rate work. To see a change in your body, you have a make a change in your workouts. If you do the same ol' thing you've always done, you'll get the same results you've always had.

Jodelle-Thanks so much for your response!

I've been working out with cathe since end of nov 2005 so I considered my self to be in pretty good shape. I recently had a baby almost 6 weeks ago and Im ready to get back into it. I have 17 pounds to lose from the baby weight and Im eager to fit into my clothes again since I've been wearing the same maternity shorts since I came from the hopital LOL!

I'm starting off pretty slow still doing cathe dvds but only for about 45min and I'm eating around 1400-1500 calories a day does this sound right to you?
Thanks again for your response!

Not knowing exact height and weight measurements it's hard to say precisely but yes in general your calories are good for your activity level and for losing 1-2 lbs per week. Aim for more on workout days and less on non workout days:)

For me the cardio core circuit does get me up into my anaerobic zone. But, if I weighed less (ahem, I've got some poundage to lose.) It probably wouldn't really be true HIIT, just an interval workout.

As for the weight loss question. Right now, I'm eating at my bmr and getting my deficit through my workouts. As you bounce back from your pregnancy, give yourself a break, because your body still has fluids/hormones to bring back to normal not just baby weight. Go check out Cathe's posts about her pregnancies and how she lost the weight. Remember, any breast feeding adds caloric requirements to your day. 17 pounds at 1 pound per week would be just 17 weeks. Thats not forever, as matter of fact its just around the corner. I bet you will be there in no time.

I had a room mate who had a blast taking her little one out in the stroller every day for a blisteringly fast/intense walk. She came down from a pre-pregnancy size of 12 to a post pregnancy size of 4. I guess what I'm saying is don't despair, you will get there.
