Cardio Burn Out

Does anyone get cardio burn out? Even the most fun cardio tapes I have I just don't even want to look at. I may try to go do some outdoor things,ie walking, rollerblading, etc. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what they do if they get this?
Thanks,
Faythe

When this happens to me (and I live in Minnesota so outdoor activities aren't always an option) I usually put in a video I haven't done for years. It gets me moving, and although it isn't as intense as my usual workouts, I get pumped because I am always amazed that I still remember the choreography. This makes me want to keep working out the next day, and so on. But if the sight of your VCR or DVD player has you cringing, then take a walk, put on some rollerblades, give your bike a tune up, etc. Or maybe you need a break from cardio for awhile before you get right back at it. Have fun!

I definately get that. I usually try to find a new type of cardio, like I did with Kickboxing, but there are only so many options. If I'm beyond inspiring myself with something new, I take the day off and do yoga or pilates or something without the impact of cardio. Rollerblading sounds like a good idea if its not something you usually do. Also I recieved a heart rate monitor as a gift a couple of years ago, and find that even when it is hard to get started, once I do, the feedback from the monitor keeps me moving. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I'm glad it's not just me. I plan to buy the intensity series for Christmas, I'll prob. pre-order. It's a bit cold, but not like minisota, so I think I'll try rollerblading and walking a bit.
Thanks,

Swtiching to something lower intensity is a good thing to do. I pulled out Cardio Kicks after not doing it for over 5 months, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it this time. Not that I didn't before, but after 5 months of doing hilo instead of kickboxing, it was really fun.

When I added in more low intensity activities to my schedule, I found I could go longer without taking a week long break. I go 10 weeks or so instead of 6 like I used to.

Just Do It! :)

This morn I pulled out an oldie but goodie. The Firm's lower body split. I was winded, and usually that's an easier one for me. It's easier than leaner legs (ctx).
I will add a lot of low intensity walking before it gets too cold. It's perfect weather to do outdoor things so I can feel like I'm working out in A/C.
Not expecting snow yet, so roller blading is a good thing too. It's been a few wks since I've done that.
I think I'll try that monday, this wkend is too busy. I can only get an hour or so in, each day. So tapes are it for this wkend. Tomorrow I think I'll do Bodymax, but I'll take out the leg section and do upper body after step.
Thanks guys

yes..we've all had cardio burn out. I use Kari Anderson's new Angles, Lines II as an antidote --or Pilates. Sometimes, I take the day off and hug my horse!! :7 Murph

How cool, you have a horse. Today I went interviewing in the city and walked many miles all over the place. Felt that was something, but low intensity. I'll do something with weights later, after dinner. If I get this job that I want (fingers crossed) I will join a gym right near it. Then I can use machines and such. And perhaps interesting classes too. IF it all works out that is.

Its getting cold but hiking trails can give you a great workout. A lot of them have uphill and downhill slopes and you can get a great interval workout without even realising it. Also you end up walking quite a distance, depending on the length of the trail. Plus all the fresh air, peace and quiet etc. is great. I'm normally very sore and totally de-stressed after doing challenging trails. Hope you find some fun activities that you enjoy.

I love hiking. I'm 'bout 45 mintues from this great preserve and love hiking there. I like to pack a lunch and make a day of it. Rain tomorrow, but yeah, that's a good idea. haven't done that in a while. Even the beach is good (yet cold) and I'm only 15 min's from that. great idea.
