"Carbonated drinks"
One thing I do know about carbonated drinks: They encourage and complicate UTIs (urinary tract infections). If you've ever had one, you're probably shuddering by now. I'm positive that having caffine shortly before your workout does sap your energy! Don't get me wrong, I love my morning coffee, but let's face it, caffine is really just "faux energy". I've also heard it said that if you're trying to lose weight, caffine only hurts your efforts because your body burns caffine off as a priority before fat or calories. Now, I don't know if that last thing is acurate, but all in all, caffine is the wrong thing to have before a workout. (Oh yeah, caffine also contributes to UTIs). I like to have some kind of low fat bread (english muffin, bagel with preserves instead of cream cheese) a little while before I workout, I know it's not exciting, but I feel the real energy kicking in just when I need it!
