Carbon Footprint - SNM

Good Morning -

With all the talk about climate change, Live Earth, and what we can do as individuals to help this ailing planet, I am asking if SNM would consider ending the practice of shipping DVDs in the awful styrofoam peanuts that they use.

Please don't suggest that I pass the peanuts along to another local shipping business, as I don't want to be another part of the problem. The best practice would be to stop using the peanuts altogether.

I'm sure there are lots of other more earth-friendly ways of shipping DVDs than styrofoam peanuts.

Kindest regards and your faithful customer,
Susan L.G.

I agree.

Many companies I order from use biodegradable packing peanuts, made from corn starch, which are a 'green' alternative to styrofoam. They can be composted, scattered on a lawn and watered in, or even put in the sink and 'melted' with water (though keep your pets away, as I used to have a cat who wanted to eat them!).

Kathryn is right. Veganessestials.com uses those packing peanuts and I throw them in my recycling bin. I think they are just as effective as regular peanuts. I'd rather compost them, but I rent an apartment and I don't think I can start a compost pile. I could add them to my neighbor's pile though.:)

Are the peanuts used by your business biodegradable as described by the above poster or just plain styrofoam?

Would SNM consider switching to biodegrable peanuts?

Thanks again!

(Edited for spelling errors.)

Hey,

I actually ate one of those peanuts on a bet from a friend of mine!!!
Nothing happened . . . not even a stomach ache . . . and I'm still here!

Sooooooooo, I guess they are bio-degradable or at least human degradable!
