Cancer infestation!

A month or so a go I found out my father in law was diagnoised with lymphoma, last Friday I just found out my mother in law has adenocarcinoma (lung cancer). My sisters father in law has stage 4 prostate cancer and I just got a phone call from my obgyn telling me I need to come in for additional testing because I may have cervical cancer. You hear about cancer all the time but it seems like everyone knows someone who has been diagnoised with cancer or has cancer themselves. Could our environment or diets been causing this increase in cancer?? This just sorta really sucks. Anyways, I just wanted to encourage all you beautiful women out there to make sure you go in for your girlie check ups and keep healthy!

I am sorry to hear of all your bad news. I will keep you in my prayers as well as your family. Hopefully yours will turn out to be nothing. Keep a positive outlook & keep us posted please.

I will keep you in my prayers. I know what you mean. It seems like every time I turn around some I know has been told they have cancer.

omg, I can totally relate. First, let me say I'm sorry to hear about your sad news. My mom called me last nite to say she had met with her oncologist after a biopsy, and she'll be needing aggressive chemo. They also told her she will lose her hair in about three weeks, and that she'll be very sick from the aggressive treatment.

I don't know if there's more cancer now, or if we're just catching it sooner.

Janie, you're in my thoughts. I had a year like that a few years ago. It seemed like all I did was go to funerals:( Let us know what happens.

Take care,

I'm sorry to hear your bad news. I hope your ob is wrong and you have something less dire, like just changing cells, but not cancer.
I don't know what is going on. It has to be environment, but then again, who knows what real cancer rates were 100 yrs. ago? We didn't have the ability to catch or diagnosis like we do now.
I'm the only one in my family w/out a cancer or pre-cancer diagnosis
dad-colon, mom-uterine, sister-cervical, but all are well and you will be too!!!

Wow, what a supportive bunch you all are. I'm wiping tears from my face as I write this. Thanks everyone. I know that I'm not alone out there. This stuff seems to be everywhere. I keep thinking of that movie Erin Brocovitch (spelling?) and wondering if we've done this to ourselves? I posted mostly to encourage everyone out there to get checked. This thing just sneaks up on people.

Oh, Janie, just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Please keep us posted, OK?

Janie! I'm so sorry to hear about this! Keep us posted! My prayers are with you!

I just posted the other day about this very thing:

http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=252324

It's an epidemic that is becoming scary and hits too many times too close to home!

Part of me is convinced it's environmental, and part of me thinks that because our medical processes and technologies have come so far, we're catching more of it and sooner!

You're in my prayers.

Gayle

Janie,

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.

Janey girl, you and your family are in my thoughts and I am sending all my good energy vibes your way!

I know, this cancer shee-ot is out of control...we can send men to the friggin moon, and create horrid nuclear weapons of mass destruction, so why the hell can't we find a cure for this insidious disease? I am sorry, but cancer pisses me off. It strikes like tornadoes do..randomly and often. I hate it. I have lost many to this disease and am really mad, sad and well, scared.
