can you shrink a bathing suit?

I bought a bathing suit that I love online, and the tops are too big (I bought a bikini top and a tankini top). The bottom is perfect, which pretty much never happens, so I really want to keep it. When I went online to try to order the tops in a smaller size, of course they're sold out. Do you think if I wash them and put them in the dryer I could shrink them a little? They're not horrible, but they definitely look too big; I'd feel funny wearing them (plus I'd be afraid they might stretch out when I went swimming and then I'd really be embarrassed!). Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks!

No, I have never tried this, I hand wash my bathing suits, god forbid if they shrunk!:7

Can you try buying a top that does fit in a different color, but the same material, I know that the "mismatched" look can be cute sometimes?

I purchase my swimwear online at ujena.com because you can order the tops and bottoms as seperates, assuring a perfect fit.

Thanks for the suggestion. This bathing suit is a very distinct pattern with unusual colors. I think when it first came out, there were matching solid separates, but now they don't even list those as an option (the solids must have sold out). I do this to myself all the time; I wait til the end of the season to decide to order something then invariably can't get the size/color that I wantx( !

Newport News (newport_news.com) sells bathing suit separates for really good prices...perhaps you can find a solid color to match the bottom that you have?

take it in and get it altered to fit you perfectly. Heck, if you need padding in the cups they can do that, too!
