Can we talk about wine??

Donna, not to hyjack the thread, but I had to tell you that your lab is adorable! He looks just like mine! Ours has got some dark spots on his ears though that look like they were dipped in caramel.
Oh, and the wine thing, yeah, I can relate. But I only uses drink it maybe once every few weeks. But I don't limit it at that point to just one glass. a friend of mine and I get together and release our stresses. It get ugly with food and the wine combined. I've stoped that though. Mainly because she lives a half an hour away and I don't like to spend the money in gas anylonger. :(

Amy - I'm with you! Pop it open! :9

I'm a wine lover, too! I try to stick with one night a week or once every two weeks, though and only allow myself 2-3 glasses.

Ahhhh, the joys of consuming SUGAR in the form of wine... A couple of sips of this (or a bite or two of chocolate) makes me want to ingest even more sugar! Gosh, too bad it causes such a craving for sugary substances, eh?

Sigh, I love my wine as well! :9 Could drink it every night. I'm a white wine drinker though. I love my chardonnay! I too only allow myself to have wine (or any kind of alcohol for that matter) one day a week... Saturday! I look so forward to Saturday!!!:7

Add one more wine lover to the list!! Especially a good red but their all acceptable.

I have tried to limit my consumption to a glass or two on Sunday was well as one occassional glass during the week. But lately here hubby and I have gone to many events that include alcohol so I need to cut back again to my "rule". Actually I don't really have a problem with overeating after wine, it's just the wine that's the problem!!
Love it.

mmmmmm, i love my wine! glad to hear i'm not the only one... i'm not a big dessert person and don't even crave other foods with it - just that yummy nectar all by itself suits me fine! }( pinot grigio is my favorite, but i like it all (except the sweet ones).

one question, though... is there evidence that it causes weight gain in the middle (aside from the tendency of people to overreat as their inhibitions are lowered)? i see that several people alluded to this phenom but have never heard anything about it specifically. i realize it's empty calories, but my curiosity is piqued since i have been desperate to explain why, over the past couple of years, my mid-section shows the effects of weight gain much more than it used to. ???

What the heck is the point of exercising if you can't eat or drink things you enjoy??? Life is short, enjoy a few damned things before you leave this world. Sheeesh!!

Many people gain weight around the middle as they hit menopause. Others have due to stress. Personally, I try to avoid behaviors that lead to the bad eating, such as going to happy hour right after work not having had anything to eat. I always end up downing a basket of popcorn so now I don't go unless I've had something good to eat....and then I can have my wine. Damn popcorn!

No way will I give up my wine! I only drink it (2 glasses) if I'm not working the next day, since I have to get up at 5:30 on workdays.

It helps me relax after my usually stressful work weeks. I sip those 2 glasses slowly, and usually don't crave dessert with my wine - lucky, I guess.

Dreaming about Riesling or Pinot Noir . . .

Picture it: The wine court at "The Great New York State Fair" A summer slice o'heaven for those who like to support their local wineries and those sangria slushies are just sooooo wonderful.

You guys are killing me.....this thread keeps popping up...yum slushy sangria.....I have to wait to Saturday for a glass of wine.....

Can someone explain to me why wine works for the French. French women are exemplified for their slimness. Wine is a part of everyday life there. Why is it demonized here? Why does it make us fat and not them? Just curious.
