tell me what causes underarm "bleach" stains on shirts??? This is like the third nice work short sleave shirt/sweater that I have had this problem with. It's a ribbed tan shirt and now the underarms are a bleached orange color! Is it my deoderant? Toxic arm pits? Is my body too acidic??? I'm getting tired of throwing away brand new shirts. :( Does this happen to anyone else? We're not talking "yellowish" arm pit stains here - it's literally a bleached out area of the shirt. :( And it's only the nice expensive shirts. >:l And yes, I clean my shirts after I wear them! ;)

It could be your deodorant. Your body's chemistry make react with certain deodorants causing a bleaching effect. You might try to switch brands and see if it still happens.

I would LOVE this answer too Liann. Not so much me or shirts -- but mine is with DH and sheets! My DH sweats like a menopausal woman at night and generally sleeps on his stomach with his arms extended up to kind of crasle his pillow. My sheets and pillow cases are all completely bleached out where he sleeps (and sweats!) I put brand new sheets on our bed on Monday of this week and Tues morning he said "hmmm, did you see my pillow?" Bleached out blotches all over the place.

Don't some folks here use those crystals? I wonder if those would help?

I'd love to hear some opinions on this too. Whenever our shirts come out looking funky, I usually blame it on some mystery chemical in my detergent. Which doesn't help much, as my shirts are still ruined. x(

Lorrie and Liann, I had that problem with the bleached sheets, I think some detergent are to harsh on your cloth! I switched to environmentally friendly laundry detergent! I buy mine in Costco, it is called Wintree with natural lavender scent,I really like it! I don't have any bleached stains anymore! I do use the crystals, love it! My skin is very sensitive!

Thanks Belinda. My bleached out sheets are only on DH's side of the bed / pillow. But I will look for that detergent. Is it a powder or liquid? I ask because I have a septic system and need to opt for liquid detergents.

That Oxyclean stuff seems to really work, vinegar works on those types of stains too. I get them on my white sheets from my self-tanner! Gross.x(

You welcome, Lorrie! It is a liquid detergent! I also like Seventh Generation liquid detergents! If it's only on your DS's side of the bed/pillow, maybe go only with white sheets?
