Can someone help me get started w Cardio Coach

I was hesitant about trying these. I don't have cardio equipment I don't belong to a gym and I'm not a runner. But I heard such rave reviews I decided to try a couple. I started with Vol 2 and 3.

No surprise to others here but I really got to like them. I use my own exertion levels. For me that's walk, walk fast, slow jog and run. THANKFULLY the run is minimal. I do mine outside. I live in the SF bay area so I'm lucky to have pretty decent weather year round and that helps.

I like that the times vary. Today I did Vol 3 because I only had about 30min and wanted to be outside instead of inside with Cathe. (Besides I did STS biceps inside after doing Vol 3. :D) And I get a good calorie burn.

I now have most of them thanks to the sale. But I've only tried through Vol 5. I have to admit I'm a bit scared of the 21min challenge 1 as those 4min intervals wipe me out. In time.... ;)

No, I don't have Press Play.....but I'll be sure to get it!!!!! Isn't running outside great? And yes, I must join a gym for the winter because I don't want to lose the endurance that I've gained.

CC Outside??

Hey I have two CC workouts and I love them for treadmill and indoor cycling but I am wondering how you would use them outside? I have alot hills around my house and don't run with an ipod as I am afraid of getting run over on the country roads... no shoulder to run on? How do you do hills when your not at a hill or vice versa? How do you listen to it and still hear traffic?
Just wondering... I love running outside in the morning but it is usually still dark when I run (going before the kids get up). I would love to add this to my runs to add variety.
Any suggestions?
Heather

Well ladies, I bought Vols. 2-6 yesterday! Got them all loaded on my iPod and am ready to roll! Of course, we're supposed to get rain from Hurricane Danny this weekend, so I don't know WHEN I'll get to start trying all my new volumes!

I don't have a lot of hills where I live but I DO have sidewalks. So I do speed instead of hills. walk-walk fast-jog-run works for me. I do my CC after I get home from work. If there's a lot of traffic I will run with just one ear plugged in. It's going to be a challenge as the days get shorter though

I just recently started running with CC outside and I understand your concern about not being able to hear what's going on around you. I run on a bike trail so cars aren't as big an issue for me as skaters and cyclists. I keep the volume turned down low and I can usually hear fine, but like Brenda said, you can try using just one earphone. I'm so new to running that I don't need to worry about what to do if I'm on flat ground during a hill challenge -- the flat terrain is still plenty taxing for me :p -- but I would try adjusting my speed to accommodate, (if I had more than 2 speeds -- slow and slower ).

WOO HOO!!!! Congratulations, Tricia!!! Now is a good time to buy because the sale ends on the 30th!

Brenda, you will LOVE Volume 5! The music is GREAT in that one, especially in the first challenge! Let us know how it goes!

Did vol 4 tonight. Got home late and didn't want to run much past sunset (me = klutz). I like that one. I did vol 5 last w/e. Tough! If I get a hill I just pace it for my exertion level. Seems to work fine. I've yet to do Vol 6-8. :O

And just to let you know how much of a sweetie Coach Sean is....
I bought my initial volumes when they were dirt($5.98). I waited and waited but the sale was the buy-more-save-more one. I did buy more and ended up with about a 30% discount. Less than a week later - the 5 for $29.99 sale went up. AARGH! So I emailed him. I didn't really expect much. But he said he would send me a link for additional volumes. And he did. Very cool.

Miss Lee you are such an enabler. ;)

I am fortunate to live in NYC and right near the Hudson River.....so I usually run on the path that's right along it. However, when it gets colder, I run on the sidewalk (never in the street, because in NYC I'd be run over in a heartbeat). I don't worry about the "hills" thing if I'm not actually near a hill......I just bump up the intensity. And truthfully, for me just to keep running at a steady state is a challenge....so if I'm not actually going up a hill....I don't really care (I just pretend I am). I know that sounds ridiculous.....but I really do burn a lot of calories anyway!!!

So, Michele, how HAS the running been going? You should be close to week 8 or 9 by now, yes? I'd really love to hear how you've been doing! I know things have been busy! And with fall coming, it's only going to get busier!

Just drop me a note sometime or post it here! You know I check the forums daily! Ok, ok, multiple times a day!:eek:
