Can I just cry for a minute? Need help!

Cathlete
I had a baby November 7. I weighed 195 when I got pregnant with her, and 205 at delivery. (I'm only 5'2) I gained 10 pounds with that pregnancy and lost is quickly. I came home from the hospital wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was bigger to begin with, and this was my 2nd child. I have since dropped 30 pounds with diet and very light exercise. I had a c-section, so I didn't want to rush things. However, my CLOTHES AREN'T SMALLER!!!

How can I lose 30 pounds and my clothes still fit the exact same? I don't get it:(

With all that said, I just ordered cathe's beginner set and step. I am hoping to lose some inches...and weight would be nice too! I have so many gift cards to spend, but I want smaller clothes.

Got any good ideas for me...I just want to curl up in a ball, drink my coke I haven't had in forever and eat fritos...

jessica,

i want to congratulate you on the birth of your baby daughter. i have not given birth so i cant say i can relate in that sense. i have been very heavy and have lost a lot of weight. it just takes time. give yourself a break. first, pat yourself on the back for going through a c-section. i have had life saving surgery and have an 8 1/2 inch scar. long story, but i had to take things very slowly after that. at least 6 months.

take things slowly. i am sure you will get many responses from others who have had children and can give you better advice.

you sound like you need a big hug. i am sending you one and hoping you hang in there. you will get there.

Oh I so know how you feel! I was on bed rest from 26 week to 34 weeks, then in the hospital 20 days and gained almost 100 pounds(also had c-section)...when I left the hospital I could not even fit in my maternity clothes! It took my quite a while before I even begun to exercise, I actually just started in the last year and my son is 3. And even though I really would love to lose weight, the thing that pushed me was my health. Last year at 28, I was put on blood pressure meds, and was being watched because of my pulse rate going up and down. Now after exercising my blood pressure is normal, as well as my pulse rate. I can encourage you to stick with it, in no time you will tell a differance, not only in how you look, but how you feel. I am not the healthiest person when it comes to food, but my exercise makes me feel great! I know its hard but just stay determind. Also even though I have lost weight and can fit into some of my pre-preg clothes, they still fit different. And I think it does have a lot to do with what kind of clothes, like low rise jeans (although I like) can be hard on a c-sectioned tummy!

As soon as you get your step, you won't be able to turn back!!

Jessica -

For what it's worth, I've observed that it can take your body a long time to contract back in to "catch up" with your weight loss. Your skin and looser flesh is very elastic, but especially after an event like a pregnancy it can take some time for things to settle back in.

Also - I am finding Cathe's workouts to be THE BEST for inches lost!

This month I lost only 2 pounds of scale weight (I'm 5'5") but lost an entire inch from my hips and bust and 1/2" from my waist. I think you'll see those inches disappear faster than you think if you stick with the Cathe rotations.

I hope that helps. And here's a big long distance hug!!!

Cheryl

Thank you all for the encouragement. I just don't understand how I can drop 30-35 pounds and STILL wear a size 16. My stomach is getting smaller...I have dropped 4 inches since before I got pg with her.

I am anxious to start the beginners rotation. The order went through today so I hope to get it soon!! I am in Virginia, so it shouldn't take too long.

Thanks again!

Hey Jessica!

I also wanted to congratulate you on the birth of your baby. I haven't had children, so I can't comment on how you're feeling or how it is to lose or not lose after childbirth. But I did want to also congratulate you on losing 30 pounds!!! That's awesome! Don't give up. And STAY AWAY FROM THE COKE AND FRITOS! Those won't help you reach your goals and they certainly won't help you get into smaller clothes. :) Cathe will help you and so will putting the right foods into your body for fuel. You will need lots of energy now trying to keep up with two kids AND your workouts. So don't sabbotage your efforts by putting junk into your body. You're off to a fabulous start. Keep up the good work. There are lots of people here who can help you.

Hang in there!!!!!

Jessica,

Good for you! You've taken the first step. We're here to help if you need guidance.

Just remember, like Suz said, food is important! Eating right contributes about 80% to weight loss.

Yes, about this food stuff...every calorie counter site i have seen tells me to eat so differently. One site says 1200 to lose, another says 1800...which is it?

The same thing happened to me. I didn't have a baby, but when I was losing weight my clothing size didn't change until after I had already lost more than 25 pounds. Then all of a sudden I was dropping sizes like crazy. Eventually I went from a 16 to a 6.

Be patient, your body is going thru a lot of changes right now. I'm sure you'll see a difference very soon. Congrats on the new baby!

Your on the right track by ordering Cathe, you'll love it!I've been with her since early december.Congrads on the new baby,I also have two kids,5yr old and a 20mnth old,and let me tell you your gonna busy, very busy!My workouts are a release for me,cathe is sooo fun, don't worry so much about the weight you'll do it,last year I lost 32pds just by doing step aerobics three or four times a week, drinking water, and watching my diet.I lost an average of about a pound a week, and oh how the inches will come off!

And talk about curling in a ball,I've been on a weight loss plateou for several months now,so I KNOW BELIVE MEx(.thats why I joined Weight Watchers today, can't break the plateou.Maybe they can help me.

Good luck to you and your babies!!!
Amy:)

You can try this site, it gives you calories needed and can even zig zag them, which a lot of people have found to be effective in weight loss. Congrats on your weight loss...next time your at the store pick up 30 pounds of dog food and then realize how far you've come!! Make sure you don't go too low on calories, you could put yourself into stavation mode and actually hinder your progress. I like a site called amihungry.com.

Congrats, good luck and don't give up!

Hello there, Jessica! (from another Jessica!) I can totally relate. I have 3 girls & let me tell you that I was NOT one of those who fit back into their clothes right after. I gained WAY too much each pregnancy (between 50 & 60 lbs each time) & was depressed to still be in my maternity clothes 2 mos after I had my 3rd child. But that's when I got serious about losing weight & although it took me almost a year, I had dropped about 70 lbs!! So... it can be done. Back away from the Fritos & Coke and pop in a Cathe DVD!!! I started out just walking & doing pilates when I first lost weight. I've only added Cathe in for about the last 10 mos or so.

Good luck!! This forum is great for healthy ideas & support!

Jessica, it takes time. My first baby was c-section and it was really a year before I was really fit. Your time right now is taking care of a baby and healing. Just continue to watch what you eat, exercise when you can and be patient.
