I might have a torn meniscus but it does not show on the MRI, I got a cortisone shot and the doc said no pivoting actions for a couple of weeks. I need to lose weight to help my knees, aparently I'm knock knee'd also which is not helping things.

Is it safe to do any of the dvd's listed above??

Thanks !!!

my sis had a serious knee injury and can no longer do step. i am still recovering from an ankle injury. its been over 4 months! i am so frustrated. anyways,i do her step tapes/dvds without a step and no pivotting. its accually kinda fun. have u tried swimming laps? thats another exercise i do besides kickbox and high/lo.my sis cannot do squats or lunges but she can do wall squats. before the first week of may i had been dancing for over 6 years. i miss that alot.

I have knee issues myself and anything "torque-y" really hurts. Step is also painful for me. So I skip all of that. I do do Drill Max and Kick Max and KPC and Bootcamp for cardio. LOVE THEM! The others are all just not made for someone with knee issues. I've not tried doing the step workouts without the step yet, although I may try that at some point. I wear an Ace knee brace/bandage on both knees when I'm doing the kickboxing workouts, just for a little extra support. And I take out the twists and turns anywhere they appear (i.e. kickmax - chambers where she turns in a circle - I just do continuous chambers).

RE: Can I do Low Impact, Drill Max, and Low Max w/knee...

I have bad knees and I don't do Drill Max cardio because the jumping is just too much for me. I don't have problems with Low Max or LIC.
Not to be a kill joy (I wish I could do all of DM, but the cardio kills me so I only do the weights portion.) Just be careful. Good luck!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Hi,

I did this myself about 5-8 years ago. I was digging holes for a deck and stepped back into one. That was it! It took quite awhile to heal fully. Just trying to step over a driveway tye about killed me. x(

I didn't do any step routines for a number of months.

Let it heal first. Then slowly add in leg exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knees. Start with no weights and work up to using leg weights that are adjustable in order to increase the weight gradually.

Wish you well,

Thanks...

I tried Low Impact and Drill Max and could not keep up and I was not even doing most of the moves.

I decided to do the Gym series upper body routines and I'm sitting on the exercise ball for all the standing exercises.

Doc said to do the exercise bike or walk on the treadmill but I cannot do more than 10-15 min. before the knee starts to hurt. I'm gonna buy a knee brace and see if I can bike/walk better with that on.

Hi again,

You should really try to give it a rest period for awhile. When I tried walking on the treadmill it really aggravated my knee. It was the pulling action of the treadmill it seemed that made it feel like my leg was dragging. Watch out for tripping or scuffing you feet!x(

How long have you had this problem? I am a bit surprised at your doctor for telling you that you can bike or use the treadmill.

Take Care,

I hurt it back in April, did not go to the doc until late June. They did a MRI and it did not show anything. He had told me at that time that meniscal tears usually do not heal.

I need to lose 30# so that's why the doc wants me to exercise thinking it might help the knees. Two days after the cordisone shot the knee felt good but one time on the bike and it was back to hurting. He only advised me to no pivoting sports.

I'm going to ice/massage it for a couple of weeks. After that if it's still not doing good I'm thinking to just keep doing what I'm doing until it really breaks.
