Can a married woman and a single man be just friends?

RE: Can a married woman and a single man be just friend...

I'm in a 5+ year relationship, and I can't imagine having close/intimate conversations with men other than my boyfriend and brother. I did have close male friends when I was younger, but I don't think its right for me now. As someone else has already said, the male friends that I used to be close to have disappeared...

I'm married and I have lots of good guy friends. Most of them are friends of mine and my husband's. He doesn't mind at all if I hang out with them alone--which only happens if DH can't go for some reason. But, I think that it's individualized to the person b/c some women have trouble just being friends. I, on the other hand, grew up with lots of boys around all the time (brother and his millions of friends) so I'm used to practically living with guys and just being friends.

In my experience, men could not be just friends. A few times I had a male friend, each time the man ended up wanting to be more than friends which I had no interest in which ended the friendship. I don't think men can handle it.

THis is based on what I have seen happend to ppl I'm very close with. My oldest sister has gone through two husbands b/c she thought it was "ok" to have single guy friends. Didn't work b/c she is an emotionally starved person. My mother became good friends recently with a married man she grew up with and that turned into an emotional affair.
If you enjoy their company that is fine. Enjoy their company in the presence of your mate. Earlier in the last century it wasn't modest to be alone with the opposite sex. I think that should be true even today.
I grew up around guys since the girls have always hated me. My best friends have been guys but it always turned out that they eventually wanted more. So then it made me feel like that was what they were after the whole time. Then I felt betrayed. I got over that. I think Trevor is right. Its just how guys are made.
