how many calories do I need in a day in order to lose weight how do I find out how many calories I burn. Anyone thanks! :)

I'm not even close to being Cathe, but this is what I know.

To determine your resting metabolic rate, that is, the amount of calories you need to simply breath, pump blood, and be alive: Multiply your weight by 10 calories per pound (or 22 calories per kilogram).
For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, you need approx. 1,200 calories to simply do nothing all day except exist.
Add more calories for general daily activity apart from your exercising. If you are moderately active throughout the day, add about 50% of your resting metabolic rate. If you are sedentary, add a little less than 50%; if very active, a little more.
For example, a moderately active 120 pound woman who requres 1,200 calories for her resting metabolic rate needs about another 600 calories for activities of daily living. This totals 1,800 calories per day - without exercising.
Add more calories for your purposeful exercise. If you are running, the general rule of thumb is 100 calories per mile, but more precisely, this depends upon your weight. If you weigh more than 130 pounds, add a few more calories. If you weigh less, subtract a few, or go by these guidelines:
120lb - 95 calories per mile
140lb - 110
160lb - 125
180lb - 140
Hence, if you are a 120-pound woman who runs five miles per day, you burn about 475 calories while running. This brings you to about 2,275 calories per day to maintain your weight.
If you want to lose weight, subtract 20% of your total calorie needs

I hope this helped. It helped me. I got it out of Nancy Clark's Food Guide for Marathoners, but it has a lot of good information about everyday needs also.

Good luck to you,
Christi

What is the average number of calories you burn when working out with Cathe's tapes? I have purchased the Intense Cardio, Cardio Kicks, Circuit Max, Leaner Legs, CTX Upper Body, and Ab Hits.

I would say that for the cardio you probably burn about 100 calories every 10 minutes, as a rough estimate. So, something like Imax would probably burn 500 calories, since you don't burn as much on the cooldown and warmup. This is just a ballpark figure as it depends on your weight, metabolic rate, intensity, etc. But no one can nit-pick it that closely anyway.

For a strength training tape it probably amounts to 100 calories in 15 minutes, but something like PS Legs burns a lot more than S/H TBA per minute I'm sure.

Hello, goshorty!

A pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories so to lose 1 pound you need to burn or eliminate that amount from your lifestyle. It is safe to lose no more than 1-2 pounds per week and 1 pound is easier and less stressful than going for two! Thirty-five hundred calories divided by seven is 500 calories per day that have to be eliminated, whether by exercise or shaving them off the diet . I think a great way is to chose a workout that you know will hit 250 calories and slice 250 from your diet. Do not drop below 1200 calories ever. I recommend not dropping below 1800. Hunger is not necessary to fat loss!

A terrific way to reduce your caloric intake is to eat as you usually do but to make your servings slightly smaller. Lean proteins, fruit and vegetables and unrefined grains are the way to go! Get lots of fiber in your diet and a little protein at every meal. This will fill up your belly, keep your blood sugar level and you won't be hungry. Good luck and let us know how you do!
