Calories per day poll

For those of you who track your calories, approximately how many calories/day do you consume? I know that every body is very different, and I also know that there have been similar posts, but I'm curious.

So, just for fun, chime in if you want. Things to include might be height, age, body type, maintenance or fat loss, nutrient ratio, and how you track your calories.

I'll start: I'm 5'2.5", 45 years old, somewhat stocky build:(, working on leaning out my midsection. I'm using MyFitnessPal.com. I started out at 1200 base calories + exercise calories. That wasn't enough and I wasn't making progress. I've been on 1400 base + exercise while doing XT 90-day rotation. I'm finishing Cathe's April rotation and playing around with upping my calories to 1500 or 1600 base. I'm still working on finding the right balance.:p

I do1500 calories - I'm still 2 pounds from goal weight. Then I plan to start adding in 100 calories extra a day when I'm at goal and see at what point I start to add. I've tried going lower and higher but 1500 I still lose .25-.5 pounds a week and have good energy.

I'm 5'4", 51 years old, in fat loss mode (currently size 10-12, aiming to get back to my 6-8's). I do Karate 3-4X per week, Spinning 2X per week, full body weights 2-3X per week and I go for a half-hour walk most days at work. I am eating 1800-2000 calories per day, relatively high protein, no sugar, no alcohol, and minimal processed foods. In the past month I've taken about 1" off my waistline and 1/2" off my hips.

I'm 5'8" and 41 years old. I find that consistently eating 1800-2000 clean calories maintains my weight. Anytime I go over that or eat junk withing that allotment(whether exercising or not) I gain.

I am 50, 5 4 tall, if I want to lose weight I can do it easily if I eat 1500 cals. I usually eat 1800-2000 since I use my exercise points, but this only maintains my current weight. If I go over 2000 I definitely gain wt. I would really like to lose the last 5 pds but 1500 cals is just too little with the w/o I do. I walk 30-45" daily, do wts 3 x's/week, HC 2 x's week. I try to spin once a week as well.

I'm 42, 56 inches tall, and am always in fat loss mode! But I generally maintain around 135. I shoot for 1500-1600 calories a day and manage that M-F--but weekends are my downfall, so in essence, that is why I am in maintence mode--because I cannot get a handle on my weekends. (we eat out every weekend) I workout, at a minimum, 6 days a week. Strength 3-4 days and cardio at least 3 days--a minimum of an hour a day. It all depends on what "mode" I am in. I am getting ready to bump it back up to working out 7 days a week as I am not enjoying my "rest" day (plus the scale is creeping).

In the past, when I get into serious weight-loss mode I will eat 1300-1400 calories a day (no eating out) and workout 1.5 hours 7 days a week. I can drop relatively quickly when I do that. But I don't enjoy it and my husband gets very cranky when he doesn't get to eat out every weekend.

Thanks for your replies. It helps me to find out what other people are doing. I know it's very individual, but still . . . I'm getting a bit frustrated with myfitnesspal telling me every day that I'll reach my goal in 5 weeks. It's been saying that since January, so I'm obviously not doing something right.:p

I just started really tracking my cals on Monday - I eat about 1700-2000 a day. I'm trying to lose but struggling. I believe most of it is from poor food choices. I don't eat absolute crap but I "cheat" often enough, and w/ high-enough calorie foods, that I think it is preventing me from losing.

I'm also thinking my birth control is affecting things too...but thats for another post lol! I just feel really out of it, and recently went off of it for 2 weeks and I felt great and motivated, happy, energized...and have been back on it since Saturday and felt "normal" but I have now realized maybe that is not so normal. Also, while I was off of it, I had a much MUCH easier time saying no to unhealthy foods b/c I didn't really even find myself craving them.

I'm 5'5", weigh 134 pounds, age 56. I eat about 2000 cals a day-have a pretty good metabolism. I do cardio 2 or 3 days and heavy weights 2 or 3 days a week-never go over 5 workouts per week or I get too stiff, sore and exhausted. To lose weight I drop to 1500 cals and up the protein, decrease the carbs and will lose about a pound a week doing that. To lose weight I HAVE to decrease net carbs to 100g or less a day. Otherwise I can't lose.

I'm 31, 5'3, 115lbs and eat anywhere from 1500-2000 cals per day. I workout 6 days per week. 3 days I do cardio, 2 days I do Horizontal conditioning or total body weight training, and I do one day dedicated to a leg workout. I eat a higher protein/fat diet but I do eat carbs.

I'm 5'1 (don't know my weight currently -- whatever it is, it's PURE muscle . Just kidding ;)). I don't count calories anymore, but when I was in my early 20's I would lose weight with 1300-1500 cal/day. I've found that as I've gotten older, my body now prefers/responds very well with quality of food as opposed to a calorie allotment. If I eat very clean 80-90% of the week (including carbs from quinoa, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, spelt), engage in several miles of walking daily, weight train w/heavy splits weekly, my body automatically tends to lose fat/gain muscle. My goal right now is to gain muscle mass, get stronger, be fit, have fun :).

5'8, 125#...I think. I eat about 2000 calories, probably more. I don't count, I just eat clean...mostly 90% of the time!! Currently doing Whole30, so I have been eating clean 100% for 20 days now.

Routinely in the past I was at 1500. I'm 5'4" and 149 (hard to believe with those measurements I wear a size 4 or 6). Since starting crossfit I have realized that the scale isn't moving to my 135lb goal because I haven't been eating enough and am essential living in semi-starvation mode. So, I've upped my calories to 1800 and am anxious to see how this affects my body. I have also eliminated most of my sugar intake and all of my artificial sweetener intake. Protein on the other hand is up significantly. I think a lot of women are in semi-starvation mode bc of how society makes a woman feel when they eat a big meal. Hopefully, this doesn't backfire on me.
