Calories burned in Athletic Step and Step Moves

Amy Steppe

Cathlete
I hope I am not repeating things from another post about the above.

Does anybody have a ballpark on how many calories are burned in Athletic Step and Step Moves?

I know the number depends upon age and weight; I am just looking for a ballpark number.

The Workout Manager plugs in 455 for Athletic Step and 426 for Step Moves. I don't know if that helps or not...

I did not know there was a place for this on the Workout Manager. Thanks for the help - I will check it out!

If you already have the workouts in your calendar downloaded from a rotation - when it says show details...just click on this and it will show you the calories for that particular workout.

Or you can go into Workout Manager - Calendar -- select Add Workout, then select DVD from the first pull down then select STS Cardio Step Moves from the second pull down and it will display it there with out actually putting on it your calendar. hth's :)

Hey Jann,

I found the workouts, but they show around 300 plus calories burned for the Step Moves and Athletic Step.

I guess the most accurate way would be to invest in a Polaris and plug in height, weight, etc.

Athletic Step - 412 calories
Step Moves - I'll have to check my notes. Will post back tomorrow.

Thanks, Marcy!

I do not have anything to monitor my calories burned.

I just got through with Athletic Step and gave it my all. It feels like I burned 1,000 calories!

That is one tough little workout, but one of my all time Cathe favorites.

When I did check the workout manager for me it shows for Athletic step= 449 Calories burned. For Step Moves it shows 421 as the calories burned. ;)

That is funny because for me it says AS is 464 and Step Moves is 433. I always wondered if the WM went by a general number of cals or if it went by weight and height. Do you think it is personalized that way?

I think the workout manager uses the last weight you have entered in the Weigh In section since the calories burned equation using the Mets factor uses your weight as data. That's why I update my weight quite often, so that the calories burned are reflected right. I actually don't think the Mets values in the workout manager are all accurate (it is mentionned somewhere in the site that they might need to be adjusted for certain workouts). The Mets value for CCC is 7 in the Workout manager, the Mets for HiiT 40/20 is 10 and the one for Step Moves is also 7. I personally think that CCC is as hard as HiiT and that Step Moves is a lot easier...

I think it must be...

The calories burned equation in the WM is personalized for each individual based on information, like weight, that you have entered in the WM. Obviously, a 300 lb person will burn more calories than a 100 lb person and the equation we use to calculate calories burned takes this into consideration.

That's awesome

That is so awesome. I always wondered about that. Now I love it even more! I have to tell you SNM I love this website!
