CABIN FEVER

Good evening everyone. I'm having a giant case of cabin fever, or Sunday Night Blues, maybe both. It has been a long, cold winter for some of us, (and I ski) but I think I need a vacation. A day at the beach, some sunshine. At this point, I think just a picture of a palm tree would work. Anybody else need winter to be over? Maybe just a warm day? Let us know what you think. Yes, even you that live in a tropical paradise; RUB IT IN!! Going to set up my work-out room for tomorrow morning. Have a GREAT week everyone! I'm out.

I am with you Karen. I have cabin fever, too. Generally we get a snowstorm, followed by a week of sunshine. At this attitude (9,000') the snow won't melt off, but the beautiful sunny days are appreciated! My snowplow has been broken and until it warms up I can't plow the thick ice on my long driveway, so I am walking in. Definitely thinking of sunny, hot Hawaiian beaches!

Plus the Shovel Max, as an additional workout, has appeared to often the rotation.

I am ready for spring and dreaming of warm sunny days, to go hiking, mtn biking and trail running. At least I know my long, tough indoor workouts are getting me in great shape for summer sports!

I love your signature quote Karen! Beautifully said!!

I live in the northeast AND ski, but man oh man am I tired of wearing so many layers!! I forgot how my body looks or how my skin feels!! My fingers and toes get sooooo cold, they burn my husband when I touch him..... Or so he says! I try to embrace the weather being that I was born and raised here but, I too, grow weary of the frigid temps, dry skin, dry hair, stale indoor air, shovel max, shovel max and more shovel max! Aaaahhhhh. Even my dogs look at me funny when I try to get them to go out!

But we must endure and look for the silver linings in life.....we wouldn't appreciate the warmth and sunshine without first surviving the cold and grey..

Hi Karen,

I love your signature too!

I live in SE Michigan and this is the worst winter I've seen in a very long time. I am so ready for the snow and cold to be over! I have never been more determined to move to a warm climate than I am right now. I am very grateful for my Cathe workouts, Spinervals, and my spinning bike this winter.

I live in upstate NY 40 minutes from the city and have never seen a winter so snowy and cold. I feel so lazy and unmotivated. I'm right there with you all! My 8 yr old had the worst case of cabin fever! I'm ready for the spring so I can too wear some clothes I've been in sweats uggs and my north face for weeks!!!!
Counting down the days until my pool club opens!!!!

I'm in the UK - it's been a mild Winter, but it's not stopped raining. The SW of the country is under water, people evacuated from their homes. There are days on end when the sun just doesn't seem to rise.
I keep telling myself that, with a shelf full of workout dvds, at least I can keep busy!

(PS - not getting outside ought to mean I have plenty of time to do housework - it hasn't happened ;) )

I am in upstate NY and I am so over this winter. It really hit me yesterday. Piling on layers to go outside and even having layers on in this house. We have 2 woodstoves going and I am so tired of checking them first thing in the morning and all day long for that matter. My w/o room is freezing and sometimes I don't feel like working out at all and I don't.
We are going to sell our house this spring and I am seriously thinking of moving to a warmer climate. I should stop. I am depressing myself!
I so want to be outside (or inside for that matter) with light clothes and lots of sunshine.

I've always liked winter, here in Ontario, but I am so missing my running. There's so much snow here, that it's impossible to be out running. Just when the roads start to clear up, more snow comes. I hate running on the treadmill, so I'm just doing Cathe workouts to keep me sane and fit. I was lucky, and I mean LUCKY, to have spent a week in Roatan,in January.
My husband and I spent our time on a paddleboard and snorkeling. Sooo relaxing. I hope everyone has a great day, I'm getting ready to put on a million layers for my walk outside. It's COLD!!!

Every time I turn around I have to shovel here on the lakeshore in Western Mich. I am worn out. The mounds are so tall its hard to throw it out of the way. Now, I have one of my many ice jams that is causing leaks all over my window and kitchen ceiling. On a good note, there were 11 Robins on our neighbors tree Friday. I stopped what I was doing and had my daughter take pics. Well, off to shovel the driveway and try the new roof rake. Your post will help me daydream of surfing on our beloved Lake Mich and laying on my paddleboard to get me through this very tiresome job today.

I am in the Philadelphia region. I don't know if I could take FL year round, (perhaps I could?!) but I totally WANT and NEED to be a snowbird!! I HATE winter. I always have, and the older I get, the less tolerance I have for it. I am not even depressed.... I am full on . We were without power for three days last week because of a terrible ice storm, and another storm just like it is expected this Wednesday night into Thursday. :( What is scary is wondering if a tree or live wire is just going to snap and drop on my car at any moment. My husband promised me that we could get a rental in FL for the winter next year. If he doesn't follow through, I will get in my car with my dogs and go by myself. I don't care if I have to wait tables or pick up trash to make a few bucks. I NEED to get OUT OF HERE!! Rant over. Thanks for starting this thread. I needed to vent.

That is exactly how I felt the year I moved here. It was so much work just getting to work, bundle up, go out shovel the driveway, come in, get ready for work, go back out, start the car (if it started) come back in finish getting ready, go back out to get in the car, oh look the snowplow went down the street and buried me back in my driveway, I said I'm otta here and moved to Fl.

Yes snowbird is the way to go, best of both worlds!

I TOTALLY ENVY you!! If I was single, I wouldn't hesitate for ONE second to do just as you did.

Yes....but...you live in the UK! How interesting and great is that!?

Also, I am in The California SFO Bay Area...this is the warmest and driest winter I can ever remember! We need water and rain! My dad lives in Aptos which is by Santa Cruz right on the coast and they are rationing water there....they can only use 30 gallons of water a day per household! If you go over the limit or if they see puddles in your yard, or you just washing your car....BOOM! Huge fine!

Every one hunker down! This winter has been a tough one for us in the Mid-Atlantic (I'm in DC) and guess what, we are already under a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday nite into Thursday. I'm pretty sure it's going to be an East Coast event.

I'm sorry to hear about folks who lost their power. That's misery. Saw the damage in the Philly area on TV, looks like a hurricane roared through! Best wishes to you and I'll pray that you are spared the worst last this week.

Snow/ice tip from a Pittsburgh native: if you have to keep your car outside, put the wipers up before a winter weather event. Makes it easier to scrape/clear your windows.

I try to keep reminding myself that the crocuses will be making their appearance in a few weeks....even if there is snow on the ground. Another sign: I heard the birdies singing early Sunday morning, something that starts to happen when spring is imminent.

Like I said........silver linings in life! Thanks Swimmer for staying positive. Spring will come.........eventually!
