Follow up: while perusing Amazon, I found this review of STS:

If you own any of Cathe's DVD's, chalk this up to the same as her other strength routines. There's really nothing that special about this set--especially for the cost. It's pretty much the same moves in different sequences for each DVD, some moves from Meso 1 being repeated in Meso 2, all the moves in Meso 3 being the same. It's a bit disappointing and should be better explained on the website what you're actually getting. To me, it's just like any other workout. Don't get me wrong, it's a good workout, but you can get the same workout from a $25 DVD. http://www.amazon.com/review/R3U1FT...ASIN=B001R5CG2M&nodeID=3375251#wasThisHelpful

This is honestly one of my biggest "fears" about buying STS and why I've kind of hung back a bit (aside from lacking the equip I want to do it properly). Anyway, can one of you give me a better explanation as to how STS works? With the different DVDs in all 3 months, what are you actually getting each week? How are the workouts different?

Klaudia, I love that dip! A friend of mine from AZ used to make it all the time for parties and I would just sit and eat it. Now I've just moved on to crepes...

Robin, interesting with the flu shot. Interesting about work... your kids don't take the bus?

Kate, WTG with the WOs! I need to do cf! I was reading a thread on it today... missing step!

Anne, enjoy tap! I know this is a source of joy for you!

Colleen, how are you liking month 2? Is it a whole new set of soreness? I think I'll be ready for the rev too!

Ok... I'm a posting junkie today.

ANGIE, LOL about moving on to crepes!:p
Re STS - that review seems a bit harsh, but possibly true. i didnt get any better resilts w/ sts than i did w/ anything else....but eats def coulda been better. i think i was too post-partum to really maximize it. i need to do it again, more focused this time.

I'm annoyed. I want to support cathe.com and purchase things directly from her. I was excited when I saw that S&H was the featured product this week b/c I've been waiting for that. So, I went to put it in my cart and was glad to only pay $34.99 over $49.99. Well, even though it qualifies for "free" shipping, it's only if you spend $99 - otherwise it's $8.50 (shipping to my mom's house, not to France). So, then I go to amazon and they have it for $41.95 with free shipping and we are subscribed to "prime" through Ryan's parents so it would come in 2 days...

So, it's cheaper and faster through amazon... why?!?!?

amazon does not sell bootlegged cathe (i hope) so buying it from amazon is still supporting cathe.com

it's not like those bargains on ebay:rolleyes:

angie

imo the main difference in sts and other cathe w/o is the fact that it's 3 months long and each month has different sequence to weight work..like back off sets, double waves, drop sets, slow and heavy vs lite and fast...which causes muscle confusion.

i guess you can organize your other cathe dvds to do the same like
month one do high reps light weight like ME, Hsc
month two do maintenance workouts like pyramids,
last month do heavy weights like MM or 4day spilt

it's up you if you don't want it you don't have to buy it especially if you like circuits. as for results sts is not for weight lost is more for strength...in which i did see results. now when the new stuff comes out i may not lose weight even if i do more cardio b/c my diet is poor.

imo i love sts because i love weight work and i'm n my 40s (perimenopausal)and not losing muscle tone is something i have to work on

the one thing i don't like about sts strenth is the crazy DBs weight selections like 14, 17.5, 26.5..it drives me nuts

angie have you thought about mixing some of cathe and insanity workouts to make a new rotation?

Good review of STS, Robin!

Clean dinner in the books, despite a few snafus! My baked potato BLEW UP in the oven! Oooops!:p So I had more salad - no one wanted to share their baked potato with me!:p

hey all. day 2 squeaky diet done!! and dinner was delish - basically i used ground turkey breast, scallions, garlic, chopped onion and red pepper, a little milk and oatmeal. i kind of winged the amounts, then stuffed 4 hollowed out red bell pepers and put it all ina crockpot on low for 8-9hrs. to serve i sprinkled with 2%cheddar cheese. i had mine with zucinni.

angie, thanks for the info on sts. i have been drolling over it, but i did not like the equipment requirements. i need some fresh weight workouts, but i don't know anyother good instructors.

robin, do you have any chalean weight stuff?

kate, hwat is for dinner?

klaudia, how was your wo?

i am so proud i got to the gym and did some hiit on the cybex! i totally did not want to go, but i knew i would just sit on my butt and snack. i did it! and kept it clean after. early run for me tomorrow.

katie, if you read this, i saw that rticle you posted on fb re running and body weight. i guess i don't really find that to be the case for me. i have more defined abs when i run a lot. i do have to keep mindful of diet. some day i will experiment by drastically reducing my miles, but i cannot manage emotionally right now to do more than cut back a bit. how did your day go? do you notice a difference on days you don't run with your appetite? i don't. sometimes i actually eat more:eek: hmmm

Nina, WTG on Day 2! Your dinner sounds yummy!
I made T-Bone steaks, baked potatoes, roasted carrots and steamed broccoli. Mike is crazy-stressed w/ work and needed a "You're an awesome DH" kind of dinner! I had salad w/ leftover Mexican goo on it.
Good job on getting to the gym! Never heard of a cybex! Sounds like an enemy from the Terminator!:p

All girls are in bed - I'm headed down to do 4DS chest 2x. Peace out!:p

Hi ladies!! Have I missed checking in with you guys! Sorry for being MIA the last few days, but it has been a whirlwind. Football games have started and dd is back in ballet so it's been hectic to say the least. I am sooo tired. I somehow managed to get my workouts in last week and keep the junk at bay for the most part. I have to catch up on the last couple days and I promise to be back with better personals. I really miss you ladies and the motivation I get from just reading your posts! Pomai isn't walking yet, but she's much more mobile which is also another reason why I'm so tired! I have to watch to make sure she doesn't put everything and anything in her mouth, kwim Kate and Nina?

Angie - DH really wants to get Insanity. We're thinking about it, but hate having to deal with Beachbody. They always add on charges that we have to call for.

Nina - Sorry about fighting with DH. I can relate though. Between all the madness and planning a party for P, we've been at each other at times. We've gotten better at communicating which helps, but it's hard I know.

Kate - I'm nursing between 5-7x/day. Some days she "snacks" more then I feed more, but it is a lot less than before. How are your girls doing? Any bday party plans for J?

Katie - WTG on running this weekend. Seems like it's getting better for you.

Robin - I had soda too! I drank a coke to keep up or so was my excuse.

Anne - I hop tap lifts your spirits and have fun decorating your condo!

Klaudia - I really should write what I eat also because I do snack more than I like to remember. ;)

Colleen - Have you seen major results with Insanity yet? We're thinking about getting it, but not sold yet.

Alright I will be off to help the kids with homework. DS caught a cold and I sent him to school so I'm sure the teachers are loving me for it, but he had a field trip and really wanted to go. He doesn't have a fever or anything just a stuffy nose and sore throat. Hope he gets better quickly. P is also up from her nap so catch up with you ladies soon! OH and workout for today will me MM!

Lisa

Angie - I'm contemplating S&H also, but not totally sold. I wonder how different it is from GS series. I have the until this week to decide so we'll see.

Lisa

Um, yeah, that burned like a (*&(*^(^, but oh did I LOVE IT!!!!:D:D:D:D

Lisa, Great to see you!
I bought the stuff to make J's invites, now I need to make them.
The mobileness is CRAZY! I love it! She's into e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. She pulls up to stand and can stand alone. She's taken a step or two at a time but can't classify it as walking yet. Soon!
Have fun MMing!
Sorry DS is not feeling well - I woulda sent my kid too!:p They're contagious mostly BEFORE they act liek theyre sick anyway.;)
the big girls are doing good. Isabel LOVES school! Gina is working on it!:p She's a little *emotional* right now but I suppose that's to be expected out of her. It's much more smooth than last yr tho.

Better start payroll....cya!
