Butts & Guts Review

One more thing, I don't know about the other premixes, but the Leg Blast premix does NOT include a warmup, there is an insert card telling you to warm up for 5 minutes, which I didn't like at all. I want my premixes to be complete, including warm up and stretch, then I know I have my time figured correctly.

I did B&G on Saturday morning. It was very hard and my buns were definitely on fire. I occassionally had to hit pause and take a few more seconds rest than the DVD before moving on to the next set of exercises. I fully expected to be sore the next day and not be able to move, however to my surprise I had zero soreness on Sunday. I was shocked. I have been using Gym Style Legs once per week, so maybe that is why there was no soreness?

I LOVE the ab work on this DVD. I have not tried the bonus section yet. I think that I will use this DVD more for the ab work than the buns work.

I did Butts and Guts this morning and loved it. Cathe's enthusiasm is contagious and she is inspiring as ever. I did only have time for the standing leg work and the regular ab section, but it was still a good workout. I really liked the warm up with the stability ball and the ab routine was terrific (though I could've stood for more oblique work). The firewalkers were not as tough as I had thought, but still pretty darn good. I don't really feel any burn in my glutes specifically, but throughout my whole thigh area. I think I am one of the people here who question how this is just a butt workout. I think my quads got just as much of a workout from all those lunges and squats. I really liked the low pulse lunges with your foot on the weight- those were killer! I liked how she repeated some of the exercies, but made subtle changes in them. It made for an effective workout without the boredom. I will try and do the floorwork and bonus sections later on this week and come back with more comments then.

I agree with the other poster that said it's easier than L&G. I didnt get any doms. I even did the bonus. Maybe I should go a little heavier next time. I do LOVE this workout. I think its funny when Cathe says during the split leg toe touches, in a drill sargent type voice "sqeeeeze that hiiiney!"

I did the Floorwork and Abs premix of Buts and Guts this morning. I was not that enthusiastic about the floorwork. I did like the stuff on the stability ball, particularly the bonus glute squeezes. I noticed several problems with the playing of the premix, i.e. several times an extra card would pop up for a milisecond and one exercise was repeated twice, but on the same leg. I am sorry I don't remember specific details at the moment, but I will write the problems down next time. I did enjoy the bonus stability ball ab section, which I tacked onto the end of the workout before the cooldown. That is a tough workout, especially when combined with the other ab section. My abs are feeling it tonight! Overall, I haven't noticed any DOMS from B&G yet. Maybe if I did the whole leg workout, and didn't split it up, I would achieve that.

Tht thing about B&G is it doesn't FEEL that hard WHILE doing it (the standign portion)...I din't think anyway. BUT, my hiney was sore in places I'm not usually sore and I love being sore in new places b/c it means I was worked out differently! I loved the sequencing and the pace of this workout. I thought the ab work (not the bonus ab work...that is good but not as tough) was tough in B&G. My butt and gut were burnin'! I liked the music but found the music boring when I got to the floor section, but my oh my, was the floor section another butt burner!!! I LUV this lower body workout and I enjoy the cardio factor in it. Great, great lower body workout and quite different from any other lower body offerings from Cathe!
