Butts and Guts Frequency

Help! I am totally new to Cathe's videos, and I'm really confused about how frequently I should exercise.

I just attempted my first Cathe video, Butts and Guts. Needless to say, I couldn't make it all the way through! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how often I should complete this workout. Two times a week? Three times a week? Every other day? I had always heard that you should wait forty-eight hours between weighted workouts to give your muscles time to rest, so how ofen should I (attempt) to complete this workout video?

You attempted Butts & Guts as your FIRST Cathe workout?? OH MY WORD... I have been with Cathe now for about 18 months and I STILL can't make it thru B&G!!

I would do B&G no more than twice a week, that one's a killer!
 
I try to do B&G about every 10 days or so. It is absolutely killer!
I remember before I did it the first time (when it first came out) I thought, "well I am going to do the bonus leg workouts at the end of the dvd FER SURE!" Then about half way through the basic w/o I was wondering if I was going to live that long. Still haven't added the bonus exercises to the regular w/o. Am way too tired by the time I get done!

I really enjoyed Butts and Guts. I ordered the DVD off of Amazon after reading some good reviews.

Since I only have one video, what other Cathe workout videos would be recommended for someone new to her workouts? I do have a bad knee from an old stepping injury, so I'm kind of hesitant to purchase step tapes again.

Hi Jaime,

If you like weight work, I'd go with the GS series. It's a three day split. There's also Muscle Max and Muscle Endurance which are total body work outs.

I just did it yesterday & must say I remember why I dont do it every week!:eek: -
If you play the Intro to Program off the main menu Cathe usually states how often to do her workouts...Its been a very long time since I watched that Intro so I cant be sure its mentioned- worth a try.
Personally, from a physical standpoint, I'd do B&G 1x a week +do a traditional Leg workout..(2-3 days in between)..Thats how I use these type of workouts anyway.
 
Butts and Guts is my all time fav leg workout. Gym style legs a close second. Both are great! Lately I only do one w/o focused on lower body about once a week. I do total bodies a couple times after that or I'll do a three day split with GS. I always give the body parts I worked a 48 hr break. So if I do lower body I could do upper the next day but I wouldn't do specifically lower the next day. I could do cardio also and if they threw in a few squats its no biggie.
 
I love the Legs and Glutes tape! Also, the high step tapes are great too! There not traditional step tapes....oh yeah Drill Max is awesome too....not sure you can go wrong with Cathe!
 
Hi, I love Butts & Gutts too. Here's what I do......I break up the workout into two separate days. I do the standing work on one day and the floor work and abs on another day. I really like separating the two, because I feel I put so much more into each day than if I do the whole thing at once.
