Has anyone out there bought this book? Please tell me if it's worth the $39 you pay for it!!! It looks like some good info but I want to make sure its for real! Pam

Hello Pam,

I just bought this book last week. It is indeed worth the $39! The book is packed with good solid, no nonsense information on how to burn fat and build or maintain muscle through balanced nutrition and training. In addition to the book, you also get a book with very balanced and great tasting recipes and two other books with lists on the best nutrient dense foods for our bodies.

I recommend that you spend the $39! I don't think you will be disappointed. If you don't like it, I beleive you can write Tom Venuto, the author, and get a refund.

How wierd that this got posted! I just purchased it this past weekend too and I can definitely say it is well worth the effort! The goal-setting part in the beginning is great, as is the advice on eating. I ate like he advised yesterday and at times could not imagine eating my next meal cause I was full from the last one. Haven't finished it yet but my advice is yes, buy it!

thank you for your advise...you know when something comes along you need to be skeptical esp. when your spending that much money. But I am having the darndest time trying to establish an eating pattern that I can maintain for life. I would like to lose maybe the last stubborn 5 or 10 lbs. and cannot. I also would like to have some good advise for my hubby to read, as he is pushing 40 and is a little discouraged at how his body is changing. I think I will spend the money, as I have had my eyeball on this book for about a year. Thanks guys!!!

How weird, I bought this a couple of weeks ago too! I definitely think it's worth every penny. The only reason I can say it might not be worth it is if you are a naturally thin person and don't have to watch what you eat.
I tailored an eating plan from his book (low-moderate carbs, zig-zag calories, 5 meals a day) and I am already seeing results - the weight is coming off even though I have crazy PMS this week!

momto2bratz, it is an e-book. I saved the files in acrobat reader and printed it out (at work) and put it all in a 2 inch, 3-ring binder.

Edited to answer Pam's last post: There is a lot of math in this book! I sat at my desk with a calculator to plan out how many calories I would need for each meal, and then broke it down into how many grams of carbs, protein and fat. I still think it was worth it - he gave a bunch of examples that made it much easier. I hate math and I actually had fun doing it...

Another question - is there a lot of counting stuff in this book? Don't know if that makes sense...Let me clarify...I did the Zone about a year ago, and it drove me insane how much counting carbs, protein, and fat there was. Now I don't mind keeping a little tally of things for the day, but the Zone was very discouraging how much math was involved. Is this truly a sensible eating book or is this something I will want to throw out the window in a month. I can't handle things that make me feel like I'm dieting. If I even have a hint that I might be restricted in some way, I will head straight for Dairy Queen just so I can blow it. I really want to make sure this is info I can use for the rest of my life, not just a quick fix. Thanks again!

Thank you!!

Come to think of it, maybe the reason I hated the Zone so much was because I did not get results and I was hungry all the time. Maybe I will get better results on this eating plan, and won't mind doing the math.

I have this book, and it is invaluable! It's common sense advice, given to people who have a range of needs. He does not assume that every person will react to a single eating/workout plan. The only math involved is calculating your total calories. Then after than, he recommends keeping track of your daily calories. You could probably use one of those online calorie trackers that calculate your % of fat/prot/carbs for you. I imagine that after a while, you'll have an idea of the size portions of food that meet your caloric needs, so you won't need to keep track forever.

Is it possible to buy an actual book? I'm not crazy about buying an electronic version.

Does an actual book exist?

No, there is no hard copy version available. I have the ebook too ~ it's great!

One more thing. I accidentally clicked out of my browser before downloading the supplementary materials and couldn't figure out how to get back in. I emailed them and they replied with instructions for me within 2 minutes. That's pretty good customer service in my book!

I have been thinking about buying this e-book for the last week! This is so ironic. I have been lurking on this site for a while and the people here always give great advice. Thank you so much. I'm off to download. :)

I'd had the book for some time now, and its still as good today as it was when I downloaded it a year or so ago.

Pam,

Just an update on your question about math. I was just looking at the book (bored at work) and I noticed that there's an appendix in the back that does most of the work for you. So I spent all that time with my calculator for nothing!

The book looks interesting and seems to have alot of postive feedback.

So I'm wondering how to save this book to Acrobat reader? We have Adobe reader. Oh, sometimes I'm so clueless when it comes to computers.

How does this plan of eating and exercise differ from the whole Body For Life plan? Is the information essentially the same thing or unique in some way? Does anyone know?
