"Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" outstanding book

There have been many suggestions on this site to order this book. I finally did it and am so glad I did. It is a wealth of information and well worth the cost, IMHO.

RE:

It's an e-book and I believe I paid $39.95. It's over 300 pages long. It appears to have the sort of information that Sarah has been using to help people on the site beat their plateaus because it parrot's some of the things she's been saying.

Anyway, the author Tom Venuto goes into extreme detail on nutrition, bodytype and workout information. Also, he throws in a lot of psychology as it pertains to reaching fitness goals.

It's a great book...I wish I would have ordered it sooner. If you're interested in fitness it's a must have!

RE:

I agree with you. I have been on the program for 13 weeks and have lost 5 lbs. and 7% body fat. I am now at 15% which was my goal. I've never felt better or performed better with my workouts. This book is the total bomb!!

Where can you buy this book? I am having problems finding it at Amazon.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

RE:

Just wondering if this book would be a good idea for a vegan. I've been thinking about this book because I've read so much about it on this forum and for those who have read it and put it to practice, do you think it would be appropriate for a vegan? Thanks ladies.

I should have attached the email address with my original post but here it is. It's not a book you can buy from Amazon...I believe you have to purchase directly from the author's site.

I'm not sure about the vegan info because I haven't read the whole thing yet. Maybe a fellow vegan will chime in here and help you with that :)

P.S. Some of the things he's mentioned about nutrition, I have experienced already but I have learned them over years and years of trial and error. If I would have read this book and followed it's principals years ago, it would have been much easier for me.

RE:

Well, I finally did it! I have toyed with this book for ages and just always managed to talk myself out of spending the money. I couldn't do that today, so I am off to read....thanks Candi;-)

RE:

Thanks for the push, Candi. I've been considering this book for a very long time, and I think I'll go ahead and take the plunge.

Regarding vegetarianism and the book, I e-mailed Tom about a month ago asking if the book is appropriate for vegetarians. He said that when I order it to mention that I would also like the paper on vegetarian diets.

RE:

Candi, have you ever heard of or read Cliff Sheets' Lean Bodies? I wonder if it is a lot of the same info. Otherwise, I would be interested in getting this. TIA.

RE:

Marla,

Unfortunately, I do not have Lean Bodies although I remember this book also being discussed on Cathe and that it was a great source of information. Maybe someone else knows if it's comparable.

I remember you asked me if I would recommend Ms Fit to you. I believe, after skimming through the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle book that everything you need to know is right in his information and if you are reasonably intelligent you can reach your goals on your own by using his tips. I can see how Karen was coming up with my macronutrients now and how she was tweeking my nutritional components by how my body was responding to her eating plan. I believe that even though the information outlined in his book is basic, it's critical information to reach specific goals.

I've been thinking about purchasing this for months and finally took the plunge myself. I'm glad I did.

RE:

So...is this a hard copy book or something that is downloaded to your computer? I am so confused;( .

RE:

I appreciate your input, Candi. I will give give this one a try. Sometimes we all need reminders when it comes to our diet & health and this is probably just what I need to focus & recommit. My diet has been terrible for the past couple of weeks.:-(

RE:

Thanks Candi. It's good to know that the information Karen was giving you is in that book. It just didn't seem like spending the money for 6 week stinks was cost effective when you don't know exactly what your plan is based on. I appreciate your input.

KarenL - this is a downloadable book (ebook) - not a hard cover.

RE:

I purchased BFFM before Cathe's Road Trip, but haven't had a chance to print it out and read it yet.

The book is only available as an e-book. You must buy it, download it, and print it out.

I've heard nothing but great things about this book, so I did buy it. Just need a little time to put it together and read it.

Marla -- I do have Cliff Sheats' book, but I couldn't give you a comparison until I at least print out the table of contents. Let me know if you want me to do that, and I'd be happy to do it tonight or tomorrow. :)

RE:

It will come in as an Acrobat 6.0 file. You will need more than a half ream of paper to print out the book because it's a little over 300 pages. I used a 3 hole punch and put it in a binder.

There may be a more efficient way but this is the way I did it.

And...you do get some bonus books as well. I haven't looked through those yet.

RE:

I also have "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle" and find it worth every penny. I actually printed it out and put it in a binder because I refer back to it constantly. I've incorporated a lot of Venuto's teachings into my lifestyle, but I have not followed the book as a "plan." I intend to start though as soon as I get back from vacation because out of all the books I've purchased - including Cliff Sheat's Lean Bodies - it's the absolute best. I think it also beats "Leanness Lifestyle" AND "Body for Life."

BFFM is straightforward, no nonsense, no gimmicks, no quick fixes, no dogma. Two biceps up!!

Thanks for the offer Marla, but I think I'll just go ahead & go for it. The binder idea sounds good too. Thanks.
