Buns of Steel ...

Fitness-Mom

Cathlete
Ok, who has/does Buns of Steel...the original?

I know it is really outdated, but I have heard people had some great results w/ this video. I guess if I can get past the leg warmers and headbands this would be a great workout to start again.

I'm looking for some great floorwork DVD's...Since hurting my knee almost 1-mth ago, it has been limiting my cardio and leg work.

TIA~

Hi.

I didn't have the ORIGINAL buns of steel but I had one that had 2 work outs on it. A standing and a floor. Each were about 30 minutes long I guess. Boy did they burn! I'll be they'd still give you great results if you stuck with them. I sold mine on ebay quite some time ago....

Have fun!

Funny!! I still have that one.

Isn't it weird how times have changed...for the better!! Thank goodness. I would have never realized until now with a lot of concentration being put on using proper form, how ballistic those movements were...ahem...way back then!!!

The outfits are way too funny!!!

I have the original Buns Of Steel, found it on ebay or amazon for $2 so I had to give it a try, it's VHS of course but let me tell you the outer thigh floor work on this had me in major PAIN the first time I did it! I work out my legs/butt a ton & lately haven't found anything that is floor work that has hurt so I was shocked. I have never done the full workout as it so old but I do the outer thigh/butt work of this at least 2 times a week now- I think it's only like 15-20 min total so a great add to your workout.

If you are looking for some other good leg/butt workouts here is what I use, most of these are low impact even on the standing parts so you may be able to do?

B&G- love the whole thing but will add on just glute floor work to other workouts a lot

L&G- ankle weight work I use as an add on all time- part is standing then floor, think it's about 20 min total

KM- Legs drills
GSL- Floor work

Power Half Hour Bun Shaper- half & half on standing/floor work

Slim Series- Firm It Up- of the hour about 25 min is floor work

Slim in 6- Burn It Up- just got this off amazon so only have done it once but I really liked it as it works the legs/glutes different than Firm It Up. If I remember correct it's about half standing/half floor.

HTH! :)

That is so funny that you mentioned this. I used to have the original and loved it. Then on Thursday I found it at a thrift store for a buck. I haven't used it again but I am gonna try it. The outfit is horrible but if the exercises are still gonna give me the burn then I can look past it!

haha i am the buns of steel collector LOL. i have several videos including this one which is a decieving little thing.you think its easy but done with proper form, blam blast those thighs. cheesy look and dated all aside, these are great workouts IMO. not as tough as cathe of course but when you don't feel like dragging out the barbell these are the way to go.

BTW i own 16 titles

I just purchased a used copy off Amazon. I have used it once and OUCH!!! I am focusing on glutes and legs this month and next. I have also gotten the following:

The Firm Jiggle Free Buns- not so thrilled it is okay
Slim Series: Firm It Up- Great floor work
Burn It Up- Have not tried yet
Lotte Berk 4 pack- Can't really get into them- kinda slow but good toning workouts
Better Burn Better Bun- have no tried or previewed but heard great thing about this.

I mix these up w/ PLB, B&G, GSL and kickboxing workouts and drills.

I have also been doing Cathe's August 2004 rotation for Fat Blasing the Lower Body. It is great!!!!;-)

I bought a Buns of Steel workout at the second hand store. When I played it, to my surprise, it was a homemade porn. OH MY!

My Buns of Steel was tossed out, I used it so much with Gin Miller and Keli Roberts that it just got burnt out. Tamilee Web is a good instructor and her combos are well designed. Don't they have a website or Tamiliee to purchase it. She came out when I first started working out.

This is off the subject. However, I just love your pictures Janie and Kassia. :7

And yes I have that vid too... WOW the 80's what a good time:7

Janie......LOL that made me laugh so hard. I hope the copy I purchased isn't homemade porn!}(

Do any of you guys remember Charlene Pritchet(sp)? I used to do her show with my mom when I was really young. I think it was called It Figures. I was just thinking of all the 80's instructors.

Oh an who has or had any of Cindy Crawford's workout videos? I used to do them all the time!
LD

OK runnergirl, how young are you?? I used to do Charlene Prickett on Lifetime all the time! But not w/ my MOM! Rene and...Lonnie...who were her other workout buddies?

Lonnie,
I am not that young! I'm 35 but, I still think I was about ummm 10-12 when my mom worked out to that show? Anyway, it was good right? Maybe it was repeats! Heck I don't know! Anyway, from your pics I really am thinking you were working out right along with me!:D

I know this was from a couple days ago, but I had to post! I had all of the Cindy Crawford videos and loved them! The first one had pretty bad technique and I remember it got bashed badly, but the second one was really good. What I loved about both was the MTV-style of the videos with great music and scenic backgrounds.

It seems like all of the supermodels of the 90s had a workout video, Cindy, Elle McPherson had one with Karen Voight (I do like Karen, and it was also really good), and believe it or not, one of the hardest leg sections I've found is the "Perfectly Fit Legs" video with Claudia Schiffer and Kathy Kaehler. Ouch! Granted, I haven't done any of Cathe's strictly legs rountines, so I'm sure I probably couldn't even finish those!

Does anyone remember '20 minute workout' on tv? My mom used to do it every day. Very 80s!

Monica

LOL!!

I found my original Buns of Steel VHS last weekend when I was cleaning out our entertainment center.

It was wedged behind an original Sega and Nintendo game system. I really need to clean more often...
