Buff Badgers Week of May 16th

heartymax

Cathlete
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I did STS legs yesterday since I didn't get it in on Friday. This morning was Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. I am able to do some of the push up sets on my toes....that 10 second rest break in between in just not enough.

Morning Ladies,

Saturday was Cardio Callenge, and this morning Shoulders & Arms.

heartymax, Cathe never gives enough time for a break on those push-ups. :D I end up getting on those knees at some point during her drop down sets.

Lala, DD said that during their taper downs, they just do upper body weights. They also recduce the amount of miles, it is suppose to help your legs to stay fresh for the end. I hope that has helped you some.

Have a great day!

HI there! Saturday was KenpoX and Sunday was StretchX for me. I had never done StretchX before but I really needed it yesterday!:)

Starting week 2 of P90X Classic. Today is Chest/Back and Ab Ripper.

DS had me up most of the night with the flu. Wish I could stay home from work with him and sleep!

Heartymax, you'll get better at those pushups. In P90X he does only various push-ups for chest work. My chest gets so sore! Last week I would just collapse cause there was no way I could do even 1 more!

Hi Laurie!

Enjoy the day- Susan

Good morning! I'm officially back in the workout saddle! I did Low Impact Circuit (including the bonus cardio segment!) and a Stretch Max on Saturday. Sunday I did the LIS and HIS premix from 4DS and about 10 minutes of yoga at the end of the day. I'm trying to get myself to enjoy yoga

Tonight should be a FIRM circuit. Not sure which one yet. I've decided to stick to circuits and cardio for awhile since I've been really stuck on weight loss lately.

heartymax- if you can do any push-ups on your toes, I'm impressed! I'm just not there yet.

Susan- So sorry your DS has the flu... yuck!

Hi,

Sat. made it through my 6 hour bike ride. There were 8 mile long climbs at 23% grade and the rest of it was hills too. They just didn't stop. The down hills were so fast but we had to use the brakes because it had sharp turns everywhere. I've never seen so many hills at one time in my life. Nothing Sun. and I did Peak 10 cardio/strength 2 today. I thought 1 which is the original one you can buy from Mary was harder. I really like the workouts though. She uses heavy enough weights and I love the boxing moves and athletic style she does. I didn't even look for scratches and they all play fine.

Susan, sorry you didn't get to stay home and sleep. Hope DS is feeling better today.

Laurie, have you seen any results from S90?

Heartymax, nice job on those pushups.

Sam, Love the HIS LIS premix. Fun workout and great music. Glad you are back at it again.

Enjoy the lovely day.

CTX Kick Box and abs this morning.

Sam-----Glad you are back in the saddle! I like LIC and everytime I do it I wonder why I don't do it more often! I just recently got strong enough to do push ups on my toes. It was STS!!!! When I started Meso 3, I could do about 8 reps on my toes. Now I can do a few sets but I need more rests:D

Laurie---did you try out your new ball yet?

Karen---I am scared just thinking about those hills. I remember as a kid biking riding down a hill was scary for me! Glad you had fun!

Susan--WTG on P90x. You will rock your way through this time:D

Hi Sue and lala!

Morning Ladies,

S90 Ultimate Ball, so my new stability ball has officially been used. Well I did use it for some weight work in the S90 workouts, but this is the first time that I have been able to use it through the whole workouts. :D It probably was about time for a replacement ball anyway, sure do like this new one much better.

Susan, StretchX is a great workout, I think that Tony does a great job on getting every part of your body on that one. Hope you where able to get some sleep last night. How is your DS doing today?

Sam, Glad to hear that you are able to do workouts again. ;) I think you either enjoy yoga or you don't. Myself I love it, but I have to put it into my rotation. Otherwise I will not even do them. ;) Kind of like stretching.

Karen, I have lost some weight, and can see definition in my body overall. I have not done measurements, but I know that I have lost inches. Not that I have a huge amount of weight to toss out, so I may be surprised and just have gained muscle. My shoulders and core are much stronger than when I started this rotation.

heartymax, CTX Kicboxing is on of my favorite workouts. This one surprises you on how tough 30 min. of work can be. ;) As you can see I did try out my new ball this morning, and those pikes on the ball where even better.

Have a great day!

Hi! Hope everyone had a good weekend and a good start to the week! Sat I did some running, yesterday was PUB and today I will do some hill running.

Laurie, thanks for the advice from DD...and yes it helps!

Karen, you are so awesome on the bike...and the running, too! Will you be doing any duathalons or tris this summer? I looked at the MN 1/2 marathon, but in August I´m not so sure...it could be very hot:eek:

Susan, there is such a bug going around. :( Hope you sleep better!

Sam, you are getting some great workouts in! I really like circuits, too, it seems that you can get everything done at once!

Hi Sue!

Hello, everyone. I did The FIRM Complete Aerobics and Weight Training last night from BSS2. It had been probably almost a year since I've done that workout. It was nice to see how strong Cathe has made me. I was able to use 12's for my heavy weights, and the cardio seemed much, much easier (and more boring) than I remembered.

Scored two workout videos at Half Price Books today. I got Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Step Boxing, which looks awesome, and... this is sort of embarrassing... the first Yoga Booty Ballet DVD. I had always wanted to try it. It looks kind of weird; but, hey, it was only five bucks.

Tonight's grocery shopping night, and my weekly day off. Is it weird that I love grocery shopping?

Karen- You must be in incredible shape! I can't imagine doing anything except sleeping for six hours :)

Heartymax- CTX looks so great and versatile. I think it'll be on my birthday list come fall, if I don't buy it for myself sooner...

Laurie- A new ball makes such a difference, doesn't it? I got a new one not long ago, and I couldn't believe how much more I enjoyed my stability ball workouts.

Susan- I hope your son is feeling better.

Hi, Sue!

Have a great night, everyone.

Heartymax - It's great to work up to doing more pushups on your toes but there's no shame in going to your knees once you can't do any more on your toes. I do it all the time. :)

Susan - Are your abs screaming from Ab Ripper yet? My abs have never been so sore in all my life as when I started my P90X rotation.

Sam - I love LIS and HIS cardio. Great workouts. Even yoga! I'm impressed. (I, too, am trying to love it - without success so far.)

Karen - Wow! on that 6 hour bike ride. You've mentioned liking Peak 10 workouts before. Maybe I'll order these as an early, early birthday present to myself. (Birthday is in July :p)

Laurie - I'm itching to try S90 but probably won't do a full rotation like you. Too many other workouts I want to do! You know how it goes. :)

Lala - Great job with your running. Bet you'll be glad when the weather finally warms up. When is your race?

Here's how my weekend went:

Saturday - Disc 32 Plyo Legs
Sunday - Yard work
Monday - Disc 33 Shoulders, Bis, Tris - 3 sets in a.m. and Results Lower Body in p.m.
Tuesday - Nothing yet. Cardio planned for tonight.

LAST WEEK OF STS! I've seen more definition in my arms and substantial improvement in strength. I think it's substantial anyway. Been stuck at 35 pound barbell bicep curls forever and ever. I did 50 pounds last week!

Hi,

Sue, Nice that you are seeing definition. I got great definition with that STS rotation also. My body likes splits like that. Nice weight on the curls.

Sam, nice to bring back some older workouts to see how much more in shape we are. Nice find on KCM dvd. I had to laugh at the only thing you do for six hours is sleep. Cute.

Lala, it would be fun if we could meet up and do a 1/2 together. You are the one who inspired me to give it a go with the walk/run you were doing saying you could even do a 1/2 this way. Nothing else except two more bike rides like the last one only 150K and 200K instead of 100K and the 1/2.

Laurie, cool you get such great results from such short workouts. Goes to show you don't need to spend hours working out. Glad you are enjoying your new ball.

Heartymax fun workout you picked this am. Are you doing any set rotation?

Have to go nordic walk a 5K and bike 17 miles.

Have a great night.

STS Back and Triceps today. I love working the triceps, but appreciate the improvements that I have seen in my back definition. My butt is still sore from the Sunday leg work and today is Wednesday---NOT FAIR-----DARN SLIDING DISC!

Sue--awesome strength gains for your biceps! Loving that upper body definition---huh!! What's your plan after STS?

Karen---I am repeating Meso 1 and 2, but not 3. I wil be on vacation before I can repeat 3. I will take a break from STS for a short while after that.

Sam----I understand what you mean by "boring". Loving Cathe workouts can make that happen! I remember doing a few FIRM workouts after starting Cathe and I too was amazed at my cardio endurance. I purchased CTX last summer when it was on sale. The truth is----I rarely use it. I have done leaner legs twice, upper body once and kickbox a few times. I have not done the other workouts. I don't do circuit training alot. It was one of those "I gotta have it" and later on----I wonder why I did??? At least I enjoy kick box better than Kick Max and I did get it on sale so the price was good.

Laurie---glad you like your new ball.

lala---PUB---That is my all time favorite Cathe workout. I can't remember my first purchase, but I started doing Cathe about 8 years ago and I truly believe that PUB was one of my first and I used to do it 3 times a week and was eating very clean and got good results. I am enjoying STS, but I am looking forward to going back to some of favs once I get back from vacation!

Hi Susan!

Sam - I have 1 YBB workout and weird is the right word for it! LOL However. . . I have thought about giving it another try and seeing if I still have the same opinion. It was so long ago that I can't remember any of the moves.

Karen - 200K? That's 124 MILES! I know because I had to find an online conversion calculator and figure it out. LOL That's awesome.

Heartymax - After my rest week I'm thinking of doing a short S90 rotation. Another 90 day rotation is too much to commit to. After that I don't know. Gotta say that I loved lifting heavy during Meso 3 though.

Did Gilad Step and Tone cardio last night with 2 risers on each side and 3 pound dumbbells. This one always surprises me how much it makes me sweat. This morning was STS Disc 34 Chest and Back, 3 sets. 2 more workouts to go and I am done with STS! :D Can't believe I stuck to the whole rotation but the fact that there are 36 dvds helped a lot.

Hi! Today is a rest day. Yesterday I ran hills...5.4 miles. Really didn't mean to run that far ;)

Karen, I would love to do a 1/2 with you. but I think you run way faster than I do!

Sue, my 10K is June 3...the start of our dairy days and my last day of school :D Thanks for doing Karen's 200K conversion..I knew it was far!!!

Sam, I have always wanted to try KCM step kick box. How do you like it? I love the little bit the Cathe does in some of her workouts and have always thought I'd like more.

Heartymax, It is nice to get back to other workouts after STS. So much to choose from!!

Hi Laurie! Hi Susan!

Hi,

Today I did Michelle Dozois Peak 10 Pure Strength 2 and her Flexibility workout. I really think she does a good job of working the muscles without doing to many reps.

Lala, nice job running that far and doing hills. Yikes! I don't run that fast. The further I go, the slower and I start out slow so I would just like to run it to finish. I probably would have to walk some. You are going to do great on your 10K race. We don't get out of school until June 8th.

Sue, thanks for the calculation on how many miles it was. I was just trying to forget I have to do it. I barely made the 100K last weekend. Again, nice job finishing STS. That is the only rotation I have ever finished.

Heartymax, those disks do it every time don't they. Sneaky things. Glad you are seeing results. You should be in good shape for your vacation.

Tomorrow I work all day and Friday I go to the zoo with my DD8 2nd grade class to Minnesota. Sat. is soccer in Chippewa Falls so if I don't get back have a nice weekend.

Enjoy!!!!

Hello ladies! I forgot to check-in yesterday! I did do PlyoX though. Today was Shoulders/Arms/ and Ab Ripper. I am also going to do a quick cardio workout too.

DS is doing better. Can't keep that lil' ball of energy down for long! Now my DD has caught the bug however. Hope it's out of the house by the weekend!

Sue, yes, my abs are crying a lot lately. They just ache all the time. I hope that means it's working!:D I am so glad you saw results from your STS! Way to go!

Karen, you never cease to amaze me with your biking! Man oh man, I would never be able to do what you do! Have fun at the zoo! :)

Lala, you are going to do awesome come June 3rd!

Heartymax, that must have been a tough leg workout if you're still sore today! How soon will you have to do it again?

Sam, I just heard of the Half Price Books up here in Appleton and I want to go look through it. Wonder if I can find some great deals like you did!

HI Laurie!

Gotta go- that cardio is calling me! Think I'll either do CardioX or P90 Cardio Intervals.

See ya later! Susan

Hi there! Today I am doing Pilates Max. Burn and then I hope to get on the elliptical for a bit. I am supposed to do Yoga but I have decided to alternate between pilates/yoga. Last night I did one of the bonus cardio workouts I got with P90X called Cardio Intervals. It was fun and just what I needed.

Hope you all have a good day!

Susan

Morning Ladies,

S90 Tabata Inferno yesterday, and Chest & Back this morning.

Lala, When you are in the zone I'm sure it is tough to stop. WTG on the running.

Sam, A friend of mine has the yoga booty, she really likes it. She also loves to dance, so that may be why. ;) Yes it is very weird that you like to grocery shop. That is one thing that I just dread doing. I would love for someone else in the house to do that job for me. Maybe it is because I spend my day writing purchase orders. :D

Sue, Congrats on the increase in strength. When you start you S90 don't be surprised if you have difficulty lifting heavy at first. ;) I had to go down in weight, and it really was a shock.

Karen, Great job on the bike ride. If I where you I would be ready for summer to get here with all that you have going on. Or is your summer full of sports also? ;) Have you tried out all of the Peak 10 yet?

Susan, Good idea on doing pilates instead of the yoga. Do something that you enjoy, otherwise you will just dread doing the rotation. ;) I have found workouts at Half Price also, go take a peak.

Have a great day!

Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here! Last night I did Step Boxing for the first time. It was fun and really fast-paced. There was a "cardio weights" section at the end that was definitely more cardio than weights. I think I'd just treat it that way next time and go really light with the weights. The abs section at the end was very basic, which I really like because my abs are incredibly weak

Not sure what I'll do tonight. I've got a goofy disc in my neck that slides out of place from time to time, and today is one of those days, so it will definitely have to be low impact with no weights.

Laurie - I think I love to grocery shop for the alone time. I go on Tuesday nights, when the store is really quiet, and just sort of zone out. But, yeah, I'm a weirdo... :)

Susan - I prefer pilates to yoga. What videos do you use? I had one, but gave it to my mom. Half Price Books is great! It depends when you go as far as videos are concerned, but it's definitely worth a look. I also love buying cookbooks and kids' books there; they have a ton.

lala - See above for my "review" of Step Boxing. Overall I really enjoyed it.

Sue - Upon further review, I think I'll be returning YBB. I think the outdoor backgrounds are really beautiful, and some of it looks fun, but it's just a little too "out there" for this Lutheran schoolteacher  Plus, it doesn't look very cardio-intensive, and I've become a bit of a cardio addict lately.

Heartymax - I'd be happy to take CTX off your hands if you don't want it ;) Seriously though, why do you think you don't turn to it much? It's definitely a collection that I'd spend money on, but I don't want to if it may not be worth it.

Karen - Have a nice weekend; it sounds like you'll be kept busy!

Lala - My kids would be jealous if I told them your last day of school is June 3 - so I won't tell them! ;) They are already counting down the days! Their last day is June 8.

Sam - I LOVE CTX! Maybe I'm nostalgic since it was my first pre-order with Cathe but I love the short, intense 30 min. cardio segments and the 10 min. per upper body part segments. Not to mention Leaner (Meaner) Legs. Oh, and the great music - best of all Cathe's workouts IMO. It's very time efficient and you can do 1 workout a day or mix and match. I love KCM's Step Boxing. Once you get used to the pace and learn the workout, it's much easier to follow along and a lot of fun.

Laurie - Thanks for the advice on S90. I know these workouts are relatively short so without the long rests in Meso 3, it's not surprising to have to go lighter. Looking forward to trying something new.

Susan - Good compromise between yoga and pilates by alternating them. Great job so far on your P90X rotation.

Heartymax - Is your butt still sore from Sunday? I hope not for your sake. I'll tell you the same thing I told Sam - I LOVE CTX! :D We all have different tastes though and if you're not into Step (I can't remember if you are), you wouldn't like 4 of the 6 wrokouts. The weight training alone is worth it though, I think.

My chest is so sore today. Nothing on the agenda for tonight so should be able to do my cardio. Last night DD had her final concert band concert. She still has a jazz band concert next week. They acknowledged all the graduating Seniors, letter earners (yes, you can letter in Band at our school) and other award winners. DD missed earning a letter by 2 points! Then when we got home and talked, found out she forgot to submit something for credit which would have given her enough points. Argh! Don't know if something can be done or if it's past the deadline.
