Boy Band Guilty Pleasures

Okay, I have a confession to make. I was listening to the radio this weekend and Color Me Badd's "I Want to Sex You Up" came on the radio. Now mind you, I had a major crush on them back in my teen years and like all boy bands, they died out a good decade ago and so did my crush. I hadn't heard that song for so long, and I ended up jamming in my car all the way home!

Somehow that song stayed in my head and I ended up getting reminiscent and pulled out all of my old Color Me Badd cds (yes, I still have them from over ten years ago!), and what do you know, I actually really enjoyed them! Those guys had darn good voices! Since I was at it, I pulled out my old Backstreet Boys and Boyz II Men cds too-heck, if I had New Kids on the Block on cd instead of cassette I would have dragged those out too! Now, I am almost 30 and happily married, but those songs bring me back!

So, this got me thinking, since it's Monday and we need some goofy discussions, who was/is your favorite guilty pleasure boy band? I hope I'm not alone here! :)

Lol, no you aren't alone. I still have all my BSB cd's. And I'll even admit to buying their latest one. I'm not as ashamed of them as I am of my {brings voice down to a quiet whisper} BBmak & Westlife cds (gulp)! Oh the shame....

Okay, ONE person so far, I feel (a little) better! :) You and I will hang our heads down and then have our own BSB party!

By the way, your dog is adorable!

OK, do the Monkeys count? I LOVED them, Davey Jones was so cute and the accent! Peter, what a big heart, Mickey, such a goof, but my fave was actually Michael Nesmith. If nothing else, you two can at least nudge each other and think, well, it could be worse. And yes, I have some Monkeys on my Mp3 player. :D

Oh yeah! There is a station here in town that plays mainly old school R&B and Color Me Badd is on every now and then. :p I love all those boy bands pre Nsync and BSB... However, there was one group during that time that had a catchy song I looooved - "Faded" by Soul Decision. Oh, and BBmak! Ha ha - good stuff.

For me...hands down...has gotta be Boyz II Men. I was in 6th grade when "End of the Road" came out...and I have been hooked ever since!!! Even to this day I have all of their CDs in heavy rotation in my car and my friends always make fun of me for it!!!

Also, my sisters were heavily into N'Sync during the height of the pop music phase....I must admit that I have a few of their songs on my iPod. One of my favorites, "I Thought She Knew", really reminds me of a Boyz II Men ballad...must be why I love it so much!!!

Ok..I'm officially a dork now...x(

Jody, I'm with you...I LOVED the Monkeys especially Davey Jones!!!! I still listen to their music from time to time.

I have a couple Color Me Bad cd's too. I believe I also told my hubby if he ever wants to buy me a surprise gift, he can get me the New Kid's greatest hits/compilation cd. Oh, the shame!!! I think I will go root thru some of the old stuff and see what I can find to listen to on the way to work this morning.

On a similar note, the classic rock station around here now plays Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, and the like. I am NOT that old.

I loved the Monkees too! I couldn't miss them on Nickolodeon every day. If I couldn't watch, I'd tape them on the VCR. In my teen years "The new kids" came out, but I was much more into Hair Bands at that time. I hated the new kids. In my late 20's I was watching MTV one day when they were profiling NSYNC. I was GLUED to the TV, I couldn't get enough. Since then, I have been slightly more receptive to boys bands. I loved Joey Fatone on Dancing with the Stars!

Okay, okay! You dragged it out of me! I went to a New Kids On The Block concert!!! And I enjoyed it! There - are you happy now??? :p ;-)

Well I saw Color Me Bad in concert. They were so cute . I also just loved Wham. I loved the other guy, not George Michael, don't even know his name. My all time favorite was Duran Duran. My older sister was allowed to take my friend and I to see the concert. We were such dorks. I have a picture of us that night. We wore matching John Taylor hats and British Rock t-shirts. Oooooh we thought we looked way cool.

I too saw CMB in concert. I love it. Its fun to hear it again. Just puts you in a good mood. Your far from alone on this one. I will even admit to liking Brittanys bubble gum pop stuff.:7

Okay I admit it I was a huge BSB fan and still listen to their cds once in awhile.

Funny story just last week my husband was driving my car and one of his buddies was going through the cds and pulled out the bsb and said
"jim I know your wife is younger than you but give me a break!!!" He protested and said it was from 10 years ago...but he knows I still listen to it. He has been harrassed for having a "tiny bobber" for a wife ever since and I am 37!!!!

OOOHH... come on, how about The Jackson Five??? Of course when Michael was young and cute and not a wacko!!

I'll reach out my hand to you.
I'll have faith in all you doooo.
Just call my name, and I'll be there...

I'll be there.
I'll be there.
Just call my name, and I'll be there.
( Just look over your shoulder honey)
Yeah yeah, yeah...
I'll be there.
Oh, I'll be there.
Whenever you need me, I'll be there...

:D

I camped out for New Kids on the Block tickets in 5th grade (with my friend and her mom!). I also loved Boys II Men back in the day. I haven't listened to any boy bands since then but I did go to high school with a member of N'Sync. ;)

Does Led Zeppelin count? ;-) I had such a crush on Jimmy Page when I was a kid...of course I was looking at pictures of him from 20 years prior. :* :*
