Hi I am new to this forum and am contemplating the BFL challenge. Does anyone do this and if you do which Cathe tapes do you use for your workouts? I hate the gym and really enjoy Cathe tapes. Any advice on her tapes and BFL would be great. Thank you.

This topic comes up alot! There was another posting here just a short time ago that I replied to but I never bothered to look for it.
I did the challenge for about 4 weeks. The reason I didn't stick to it? I found those cheat days to be awful. If you are going to do the chalenge,I would recommend that you just have a small treat for that day.Don't spend the whole day eating. It really throws you for a loop, and for me,it took me a while to get back on track.I am not a terrible eater anyway and I think the reason why he tells you to eat whatever you want that day is for the people out there who eat awful. He wants to remind you of how awful it feels to eat this way.Other then that, the eating plan was good.I was a little bit hungry but nothing major. You are diffently going to need some protein shakes.
I liked the workout plan.(cardio). Just b/c in 20 min I had my work out done. But I didn't like the weight lifting plan.It didn't feel like my muslces were actually working,I was never sore after a workout. It just got to the point where I would do a cathe weight tape for that workout. And when I couldn't get for that 20 min run i would do a CTX tape.I really think that this plan is about the nutrition plan and whatever workout you decide to do that day will be fine.
The plan did work for me,for the whole 4 weeksx(.I'm such a looser:).I didn't have much to lose.I just have those love handles that drive me bananas,a dn i wanted to try something different. Not doing all that cardio for me was a switch and was probably nice on my joints.I was around 128 when I started and at one point I got down to 123.
I think I am going to try it again in the new year.I was waiting for the new workouts b/c of the upper and lower body pyramid. It's the samething that he suggest.
All in all, it is a good plan. Not everyone likes it.But the meals are what I normally eat.And I use to have a little something sweet for the first couple of weeks and I still seen results. My friend also bought the book but decided that it wasn't for her.
Hope I helped a little bit.Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Hi Taystesco!

I did BFL for about 3 weeks. It gave me good results and the eating part was pretty easy for me to stick with because I was never hungry. I think that I will begin it again in the new year, but without "free days". Instead I will have some kind of treat, but not pig out. Everything in moderation. My problem was with the protein, but I need it in order to maintain my muscle mass but still lose weight. I would really like to lose 10 pounds.

However, I am planning on revamping the workouts. Cathe's Pyramid Upper & Lower Body workouts will fit perfectly into BFL. Any of Cathe's cardio tapes will work on the cardio days. I think the main thing to keep in mind when scheduling your workouts is to do something you will enjoy and stick with. I need to workout with tapes so I can really concentrate on the movements and the muscles that should be worked. I have a harder time doing it on my own and I don't ever feel the burn that I should. My workout goals are to do cardio at least 2-3 times a week and strength training 3 times a week. As long as I work my whole body twice in one week with strength training then I think it should be enough. Do what works for you.

I posted a sample treadmill workout that I use when I am short on time and can only do 20 minutes. Feel free to use it or to modify it to suit your needs. It is located in the Open Discussion topic Good site on BFL. R_Lam posted the question.

I hope this helps. Sorry for rambling on

Thank you both so much for all of your information. I tried to do a search for BFL info but it turned up nothing on the Cathe forums. I will try again. I really appreciate all of the information both of you shared with me.

I think I am going to order the pyramid tapes and start the BFL on January 6, 2003.

Yes I do belong. I'm not a Body For Lifer, I do BodyRX instead but I pick up valuable tips from the BFL crowd too, on food and training tips.

I think they have a new group of BFL'ers just getting started. Look under the Winners Beginners Board.

Hi Taystesco!

I was thinking about doing the same thing once I received the new pyramid tapes! I'm hoping that these tapes will work out better with the BFL way than the others I've tried. I don't mind doing the workout alone, but after week 3 I need interaction, even if that means just having someone talking to me via video and not hearing or replying to my responses! :) :)
