I saw this on Good Morning America this morning and wanted to share it with you. I plan to pick this book up later and read it to investigate. I am feeling like I need a change and this just may be what I need.

For those that already use Body for Life, please tell me how you incorporate Cathe workouts into this plan. My understanding of it, and I lightly read it years ago, was that there are short, 20 minute workouts daily that are already prescibed in the book. I currently work out about 1 hour per day (alomost all Cathe but some P90X and Firm) about 5 - 6 days per week and that would be a huge drop for me. Any hints?

Hi, I've been doing BFL for 5 weeks now. I did the workouts by the book for the first 4 weeks. It's UB-Cario-LB-Cardio-UB-Cardio then the next week you do LB-Cardio-UB-Cardio-LB-Cardio. The cadio is 20 min. of VERY HIGH intesity intervals. It's tough if you do it all out. I always add around a 1/2 hour of yoga after the cardio. I sometimes did Cathe's Lowmax/imax 3 on the last cardio day. The weight workouts are a pyramid style and are about 40 to 50 min. You do abs on weight days. You lift heavy. I used Cathe's CoreMax for all my ab workouts.

This week I'm changing it up a bit and doing Cathe's pyramids for the weight workouts. I'll keep the same cardio going as it allows me to get in the yoga/stretching that is always so hard to squeeze in.

I've noticed some great results. My weight is down about 3-4 lbs. and my bodyfat % is definitly down. My pants are all loose on me and my gut is dissapearing fast. The eating plan is key to this I'm sure. I'm in a check-in over at the yaya's and another girl has lost 12lbs !!! so far and she is only a week a head of me.

About the BFL for women book. Understand that I haven't read it. I'm just going by what I've read others have said. There have been mixed reviews on it. I've heard it doesn't have as tough of workouts and that there is more cardio added. She talks more about the hormonal changed women go through and how it affects us. I've read that it can be kinda to beginnerish talk, like it's for the women who found BFL to overwhelming for them to follow. She also says 'girlfriend' alot and that bothered some people. On the other hand people found that it had just things in it that the original didn't have.

To me, the origianl BFL is great and has a very practical plan to follow, especially the eating plan. It's NOT a diet, it just shows you how to eat healthy and smart, and not deprive yourself of your favorite foods. I LOOOVE the Eating for life book. That's been a great purchase.

Maybe someone who has read the BFL for women book can chime in and tell what they think.:)

Sunnyside - I am basically in a place where a few pounds dropped would help (but I don't think absolutely necessary) but body fat percentage change is a goal. I have decent definition but I know that changing that body fat would help. Is there were you are or are you in another place?

Also what is Eating for Life? Should I get that instead of BFL if I intend to use my Cathe workouts?

I've been doing BFL for 2 years. I do get the best results if I follow the book exactly but I also get results by incorporating Cathe. I usually do 4 weeks of book lifting (it is somewhat of a pyramid), 4 weeks of PUB/PLB and 4 weeks S&H. For cardio, you can use any interval videos. I use one of the IMAX videos or Intense Moves by Gin Miller.

Wow - Pam Peeke was on the Today show this morning, too. My dad did the original Body for Life (at my recommendation, of course) and was quite successful - my brother, too. All-in-all its a solid program. As long as this doesn't deviate too much from the original, it should be great. Based on what I saw this morning, it's pretty sound advice.

I just bought this book. Have not had a chance to really look at it yet though. I got my copy at a Walmart supercenter, so they are not hard to find.

OK, I checked out Body for Life, Body for Life for Women and Eating for Life. I ended up having enough time to check out all three a bit and bought the Eating for Life. I am going to use this and get back to better eating. I have been AWFUL the past few weeks.

I understand the concept of the 20 minutes workouts but I am very hesitant to do this. A change would probably do me good b/c I am not seeing the results I want right now, so I may go and buy the book and give it a whirl. I want to incorporate my Cathe workouts rather than the book exercises. I realize that isn't following the plan though. I am torn! ;(

Timber99, regarding your post above, I'm in the same place as you. I don't really need to lose weight, a few pounds or so, but it's the bodyfat % that I want to change. You should give it a try. Since you bought the Eating for life book, you'll find alot on info in there while also using the Body for life website and I think you're off to a great start. Remember that Bill Phillips, the guy who wrote the Body for Life book, no longer owns the website, so some people say it is not exactally like the book (I'm not sure of the details, but I think mostly some of the recipes are not correct ratios). But I think it's close enough for you to figure it all out since you have the Eating for life book. I found the Body for Life book on the ya ya swap for $6 bucks, so keep checking over there for a bargain.
