Body Fat Question

I know I could go to my doctor's office to find out my body fat %, but I would just get to see his eyes roll and alot of why questions being asked (blah, blah, blah....) Last time I seen him, he said I looked like I could blow away from being too thin. He doesn't have a clue what I am trying to do which is gain weight..muscle, that is, and I don't want all the lecturing so how/where else could I get my body fat %?
Thanks
Charlotte~~

Also, if you're trying to gain weight, make sure you're eating lots of good protein. I've heard of people trying to gain only by drinking "Weight Gainer" shakes. That's not going to work. You have to eat, and not just drink those shakes, for them to work.

Good luck in your endeavors! I hope you reach your goals.

Catwoman-yeah, I here ya. I am not much for tuna fish and eggs, but gonna have to eat more of that stuff too. Nibbling on peanuts right now.

similar problem.

Hate getting it done at the gym too, they always try to sell me their personal trainer packages.

I bought some calipers. As long as you are performing the measurement the same way each time, the relative change should be accurate. The type I bought you take one measurement at the waist (sacro iliac) area. That way I can do it myself.

Just a suggestion: there's a vegetarian sausage on the market called Gimme Lean. It has no fat, tons of protein, and tastes great in a bunch of different things. I like it sliced like sausage patties, chopped up and mixed with scrambled eggs and veggies for a breakfast burrito, in soup, etc. And it has fiber, which is a bonus!

I use an Omron bodyfat monitor. It's battery operated, and you hold you it in your hands like a steering wheel. You input your height, weight, sex, and age; it measures on electrical impedence.

It can be pretty darned accurate most of the month...it will give you whacky numbers when you are retaining water/PMSing. If you lift weights, you want to take a male reading and a female reading, average the two results and subtract one.

Here is a link on where to buy one:http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/om/body.html

It costs about as much as 1 Cathe DVD.

You're welcome! There are some more specific instructions on getting accurate readings on www.theelitephysique.com/consultations/
like doing it first thing in the a.m. and locking out your elbows, etc.

I love mine! Keeps me from having to go to a gym to get tested, and I know to disregard it when I'm retaining!!!! LOL

Snazzy, but how do you know it's pretty accurate most of the the time. Do you have other methods you're comparing it to?
